The future of robotics at Waseda University

Professor Tetsuya Ogata from the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering at Waseda University, introduces the University's Frontier of Embodiment Informatics: ICT and Robotics Unit. About the Unit:
Waseda University’s Frontier of Embodiment Informatics: ICT and Robotics Unit is one of the seven units attached to the Waseda Goes Global Plan, which was adopted in 2014 as a top level initiative of the Top Global University Project by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
The Frontier of Embodiment Informatics: ICT and Robotics Unit was designed based on the University’s Graduate Program for Embodiment Informatics, the latter which was launched in 2013 and constitutes a five-year graduate program that targets three fields: embodiment mechanism, computer science, and networking technology.
The Unit uses a multiple research supervisor system with participation of famous international advisors. Additionally, it provides opportunities for students to participate in joint research with international professors and to study abroad at renowned research institutions. Through a synergic effect, we aim to deepen students’ motivation, foresight, and research capabilities using an education program composed of subject groups offered at the leading program.
