In 1987 I met Tab at a store in Santa Barbara that sold animal feed & supplies. My grandmother & mother freaked when they saw him, I was 17 & had no idea who he was. He signed autographs for the two of them on store stationary, he seemed very normal and nice. He would've been 56 at the time, but I do recall how big & strong he was, with the bluest eyes. Extremely handsome, but he struck me as straight. I knew I was gay since I was 10, how I wish I had known about him then! Of course, I would've had a ton of questions about how to deal with all I was going through. But knowing now how closeted he was, I surely would've scared him off. I dated girls until college & was often suicidal. After reading his autobiography & now seeing the movie, he had it much rougher than I did. Glad that he turned out happy & that I did too.

Is Tab really gay? Because he says in his biography that he fell in love with two women

Met the man last evening at a screening of the documentary in Philadelphia. He was most charming and gracious. A most darling person, actually. Very approachable and down-to-earth.

A Truly elegant gentleman. Few of todays Hollywood leading men have his level of dignity, class, strength of character and self respect. He is from a bygone era. Things are so different today. I saw the documentary and was very impressed at how he carried himself, but ,never took himself so seriously. When his career was over he knew it. Though I agree that things are much better for young gay actors I still think it must be difficult. Very few will land leading man roles. The stigma is still there.

I wanted say, I watched this documentary and it made me cry. What a beautiful man, he did a lot of things trying to take care of his mother, but he really never cared so much about the Hollywood life. He honestly was an amazing actor. But he was very genuine in an industry that has no value or respect for that. I couldn’t believe that he was in his 80’s when this documentary was made. He looks amazing. I love that he did some work for kicks and never took it to seriously, and in that found the love of his life! He sounds like a man we could all learn a little from

He's a model human being, what a beautiful person. Arguably the nicest person in Hollywood, so grounded and honest. NO hidden agenda's, just this is who I am.

I just finished watching the documentary. It was very well done. No matter how you feel about the gay lifestyle, you cannot deny that he is a good man. The film itself isn't tawdry at all. This is his life story and it is very interesting. It's quite a look into the Hollywood studio system during the Golden Age of film making.

It makes as much sense to posit that the gay "lifestyle" is something one can have critical opinions about as it would to say the same about the straight one. In truth, neither is a lifestyle--they're part of an individual's bedrock being.

At 3:34 the woman who says "Oh my goodness I'm flabbergasted" is Jean Stapleton, who played Edith Bunker on the 70's show "All In The Family"

I'm grateful, like Tab, to be given the opportunity that I now enjoy, but what a shame that for the vast majority of people in this world being true to who you are will get you rejected, imprisoned or killed.

I watched the documentary of him. Most parts were pretty good. he had a pretty sad life, concerning the situation with his parents which i think helped to lead him to homosexuality which is very sad, the premature death of his beloved brother. i don't think he had too many honest and good people to lead him away from this sinful lifestyle which leads to hell. he seemed in many ways like a very timid and insecure person. i'll be praying for him to turn away from his sinful, destructive lifestyle before it's too late for him. otherwise he seems like a nice man. it's very sad how people buy into the lie that it's ok to be homosexual. it's not. Wake up before it's too late for u!
