Arabic alphabets are some of the coolest looking scripts in the world, they remind me of elven script from LOTR, exept i rather spend my time learning a real language than fictional.

Everyone has an accent and everyone has their own individual accent within the pronounciation group.
You are doing great job capturing the bottom line.
    Thank you!

I have been studing turkish aswell and considering how different it is from arabic it´s difficult for me to undrrstand how they used the arabic alphabeth back when they did, i suppose there must of been quite some difference in the writing even when they used arabic script.

Hey Maha! Really good video... Thankyou!
    I'm from Holland.
The last time i've did something with Arabic was years ago in the mosque..
I used to read Arabic (Quran) but I never understood what I was reading.. Your other video's help out..especially the counting.
Btw..you're gonna be famous if your popularity keeps rising like this.
Maybe you can host a talkshow or something in the future.. I see something in you..in the way you speak/the ability to learn people things.
    Blessings!

thank you for you lessons - I find them very easy as an English speaker to follow. You speak clearly and slowly and explain the sounds very well. I work in the UAE as a teacher and most of my students are Arabic speakers. I teach them English but I want to learn Arabic - you are helping me - shukran

For pronuciation, is it good to listen to arabic music and learn to sing along? I learn lyrics really fast, sounds and things like that, in any language if it's a song, i can learn to say it through repetition. i would like to know if you think that's a good idea to do. Because I'm aware there are different dialects, but will that affect my pronunciation at all? i like Nancy Ajram and Haifa Wehbe and they are from Lebanon. Will how they speak be different than perhaps Ruby who is Egyptian?

no i am not Lebanese, and i am teaching the STANDARD ARABIC so you won't end up catching any dialect from me. This is actually why i am teaching standard and not my dialect.

    Hi, Maha,
I just started Lucha's course. I am using it to prepare for the Arabic course that I'll be taking next semester. Your other videos have already been so helpful in preparing my mind for this totally new language for me. I was wondering what book that is you're using to teach the alphabet. I definitely need something to help me practice writing.
    Thanks

@LearnArabicwithMaha: That's comforting to know and thanks for the reply. Don't think I'm against any regional dialect, its simply that I'd like to learn proper language first.
Still, your pronunciation of the jiim/jeem is different from what I've learnt and spoken. I'm from around the Persian Gulf and I've heard Gulf Arabs pronounce it as the g in giovanni not the j in jean-paul. Could you enlighten me more on that? Thanks.

ج is actually strong like the name George, exactly like the English G...you should clarify that in your dialect it is preferred to be not as strong, but in classic Arabic and not slang...it is G.

I'm guessing from you pronunciation of 'jiim' at 1:30 that you're of Lebanese origin. Could you confirm that please? I'm afraid anyone who learns from your videos will end up catching your accent, so we need to know which one it is. Thanks and please do respond.

  • @elchami743

@LearnArabicwithMaha you actually didn't understand what bellig.. told u, a dialect is different from an accent. We know you're teaching STANDARD arabic but your accent (The way you sound) is very similar to the lebanese one. I agree with him cuz my lebanese friend once heard you and she said "she's lebanese cuz of her accent", but i know you're from palestine, i also know that the dialect spoken in lebanon is the same one in palestine and syria, so maybe that's why your accents are so similar.

I suppose it´s just lot easyer to go make stupid statemants here then actually confronting other fools.
