    This really is the contest I've always wanted to see. And my theory is correct that you just get the Thai fighter to the ground and that's pretty much it. The first Muay Thai fighter that also has Olympic level Greco Roman wrestling will be completely unstoppable

    • @NotUnymous

      MMA should always be superior to a one or two style limited fighter...

    • @dannyshroyer5770
      @dannyshroyer5770 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NotUnymous I mean every style technically is a bunch if different methods and styles combined. Typically fighters specialize in one or two areas. Like yeah they'll have aspect of other styles mixed in as well but they are predominately trained in a certain style that they accel at. So I'm saying that someone that masters both styles would be damb near unstoppable because the muay thai stand striking is just devastating and rediculous, and Olympic level Greco Roman wrestling is one of the most dominant styles out there because it controls the pace and leverage and positioning in a match.

    • @Ryan-ts9pi
      @Ryan-ts9pi ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Most Olympians train Greco their entires lives. It would be difficult for someone such a high level at that to also be an equally high level of a striker I feel like. You see people more than sufficient in both (Usman is a really good wrestler and has become a really good striker.) But you don't see someone with Maia's BJJ become a world class Thai boxer. Charles Oliveira would be one of the closest you can get bc he is very dangerous off his back but also has really good Muay Thai (not Rodtang good)

      @@asharedo When you train for grappling yes that makes sense in muy thai you dont train for grappling on the floor maybe the occasional clinch. You can train to take a hit and Rodtang is proof of that so this was way favored for DJ not even just a little. It's interesting to see the score as The Minghty Mouse lands cleaner kicks n hooks n dodges or blocks so many killing kicks n punches from Rodtang. His chocking Rodtang in the last minutes of the 2nd round of the fight is truly impressive indeed.

      i hope mikey makes the transtion to MMA someday; i too listened to that EP of JRE and was ecstatic when he mentioned that he loves Muay Thai and has trained it mildly since a young age and is also interested in the idea of competing himself and could see it one day. i truly wish he focuses his training on striking (and some wrestling takedowns/defense) soon since he is still young and if he grinds those arts for 3 or so years and mixed with his literal god-like grappling; he would be a monster to reckon with. but he has to start competing in it before he hits 30 if he wants to have a run at a belt
