I kicked Food Network to the curb when it became reality TV ... phony drama.. back stabbing competitions. Seriously, it use to be so much fun and you really learned a lot. I cannot be bothered now with the same old, same old.. Including the same Guy And Bobby!
I loved watching Sara. She was part of my Saturday morning. The direction of the Food Network has gone to shitz. All the reality show bullshitz is ridiculous.
@danielhylander9535 It's been ages since I watched the FN. Once they started going the reality show route and everything was Guy Fieri, I lost interest. I miss the early 2000's Saturday morning lineup. It was the best.
Sara is probably my favorite chef personality. I miss her shows! Thank you for this post. I found it to be informative and helpful. I am going to buy her cookbooks now.
I cant stand any of that reality TV stuff (and in reality, scripted) I was tired of it 15 years ago. Not to mention all the informative cooking programs have moved to youtube anyway. A person would learn more about actual cooking technique watching a couple Adam Ragusea/Kenji Lopez videos than they would watching a month worth of Food Network programming. Plus I feel better knowing my ad revenue is going directly to the independent creator rather than filtered through the cable service provider, the network and its execs, the producers and the shareholders before finally trickling down to the actual people making the damn show in front of and directly behind the camera.
Stopped watching the Food Network when it transitioned to reality based tv and was no longer a cooking channel. Same with HGTV. It’s all reality and contests with no real decorating and DIY instructions.
Gone are the days when I watch Food Network. Sara Moulton was one of my favourites. Now all that network has are a lot of loud mouths shouting and what looks like utter confusion.
I agree food network is nothing but contests. So sick of it. I don’t care what you do with a box full of idiotic ingredients that no one ever has in their house.
I never thought about her disappearing. She fit right in with the PBS chefs. She has a really nice manner on tv. She's not a huge personality, but a competent, friendly lady in chef's coat you'd hope would cook for you and teach you stuff.
I really loved Sara’s shows on Food Network. She was so “normal,” down to earth, and not “fake” like many of today’s hosts are. Her instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. I still enjoy her on PBS.
Food network is not the same. Use to have great chefs on all the time. Now every time I turn on food network Guy Fiery is always on or Bobby Flay. So glad we have TH-cam to go to they have great cooking contents and tons of chefs too. 👩🍳🧑🍳💚
Yes! Totally agree. I especially enjoy Chef Jean-Pierre. A Michelin starred chef who had an in-person cooking school for years, now has an excellent and entertaining how-to-cook TH-cam channel.
I used to cook with her in the afternoon, remember it was live and you could call in while you cooked with her. She was the best! I'm glad she is still doing so well.
Sara taught me how to boil water then how to fry/cook eggs 😂 but in all seriousness, Sara got me started in the kitchen. She was good at explaining things and made things so simple and fun and she wasn’t afraid to show mistakes either and all of that took the “fear” away. Sara and before her Natalie Dupree [sp?] I watched these ladies every time they were on! ❤
I had the opportunity to meet Sara at a University of Michigan alumni event - I can’t say enough how lovely she was and took time with each person that spoke with her
Sara is my all time favorite for cooking shows. I do not watch the glitz chefs and I am selective about shows on Food network. Sara with her refrigerator blackboard with the menu of food featured that episode was so well done. Sara is practical and so helpful to the home cook.
Sara Moulton. Rachel Ray. Emeril Lagasse. Wolfgang Puck. Mario Batali. Alton Brown. This was the after-middle-school cooking show lineup I remember from back in the day! All these names are still committed to memory lol. Such good times!!!
@@thomaskauffman2108 Yes!!!!!! The Frugal Gourmet!! I hv his cookbook Cooking with Wine! 👍🏽😄😄 I loved him. He taught me "hot pan, cold oil, foods won't stick." 😄 Very sad about him. 😔
I'm glad she's doing well I will always watch her show on Saturday mornings help me get her recipes and she's a great cook she's still a beautiful woman congratulations Sarah keep doing what you doing❤❤❤
I love Sara and her great simple recipes. She created very comfortable atmosphere on the show, just like you cocking with your best friend. Sara please come back!
I absolutely love watching her on PBS and Instagram. She lives close to my area and takes little road trips to farmers markets. Fresh ingredients always. She’s a good teacher even if you’ve been cooking all your life!
So happy to see Sara again.. She's one of the great ones.. I learned so much from watching Sara. Food network has lost what most of us went to FN for...learning to copy and upping our cooking game..
Get rid of Guy, he's on too many shows and it's a turn off. I'd rather watch past videos of Sandwich King, no joke. I'm tired of seeing Guy every day, retire him, it's old and stale.
Guy and Hunter need to go, nothing new and too many of HIS shows. We are tired of him, give someone else a chance. I ONLY watch, In The Kitchen, a class show. Run reruns on late at night. Kick Guy to the curb, boring as all .
I adored Sara Moulton when the Food Network was about cooking. Now, I admire her tenacity in finding other outlets for her immense talent. She is an inspiration to anyone who wants to make cooking an enjoyable part of daily life instead of just another chore. She is one of my heroes.
One of my favorite Chefs to watch. Food Network is no longer the great channel first delivered to viewers. It is now the Guy Fieri channel. He is okay in small batches. Just love Sara.
I turned the food network off when they switched over to phony balony reality programs that are not so real. Real cooking and genuine people hosting is my cup of tea! Those were the days.
I ALWAYS loved sweet Sarah, still do and see her on PBS all the time.... Precious lady. Loved her ever since the first time I saw her and knew she was very special.
Before clicking on the video, I was like "Oh what happened? I watch her all the time on PBS." 1-2 minutes in, "oh I never watched her when she was on Food Network."
I watched Sara religiously! Loved her shows and learned so much from her. She is so down to earth, practical and creative. Miss the old days of Food Network. It was innovative and interesting. And I miss Gourmet Magazine. It wasn’t just a food magazine. It was also a travelogue. Its articles were well written and had such a broad scope. Nothing available even close these days. Now it’s just fluff.
What is being said is that there are men who think women should not professional chefs in a kitchen. They think that women should do kitchen stuff at home.
Yet, the majority of male chefs, will credit their mom or Grandmother for getting them interested in cooking in the first place. It's a double standard. 😕
Food Network (FN) was the only "regular" TV I had on & watching it was largely where I learned to cook. I'm grateful for the time when I watched the chefs prepare real food & teach technique. Sara was among my favorites. Now, I rarely, if ever, watch FN. Way to go Sara. Never give up!
I loved watching Sara Moulton. She essentially built food network. She’s very invested in her cooking and helping her audience in all aspects. I followed her to PBS. I was so disappointed when they dumped the original chefs who built that network that I left too.
Food Network is primarily entertainment and cooking contests which are fun. For real cooking instructions and learning I turn to PBS shows like Sara Moulton's. Sara's EXCELLENT ❤
Sara Moulton, Julia Childs, Jacques Pépin, Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis... are just a few who belong on the Top 10 list of individuals who have presented method cooking segments on FN. I won't say who does not belong on the list because that list would be WAY too long. There have only been a few "true greats" in Food Network history.
There are very, very few reality shows I can tolerate or even enjoy. I grew up watching cooking shows on PBS and then early cable programs. Sure, my grandmas were great influences but even bigger ones were those like Julia and Sara.
I stopped watching The Food Network when they switched to the completely droll "reality" TV shows. They are generally pointless, a waste of time and do nothing to elevate anything. Please can we get past this stage of TV. Please.
Between Food Network and HGTV back in the late 90s to the early 2000s they had all of my time and attention and by the time they started doing reality TV and competitions and trash television I haven’t looked at them since then. Such a shame, too, that they allowed some VPs to run their network quality absolutely into the ground!
Were you a fan of Sara Moulton?
Yes. But to be honest I never paid attention to her food because her likable personality was the dominant
Yes, I still watch her on PBS!!!😁❤️
Huge fan! Her personality was the attractant. The amazing recipes were the icing on the cake, so to speak.
Not were, ARE! Absolutely. Very down-to-earth and natural, AND an excellent chef. Screw Food Network, can't keep a good woman down!
Yes!
I miss the days when the Food Network was all about cooking, recipes, and instruction, with solid chefs.
Same here! I can't stand all the competition crap. I watch re-re-re-runs of Alton Brown's shows for that reason.
agree
Me too, I don’t watch that channel anymore.
Yes! Now it’s all celebs and cooking competitions. Why don’t they get back teaching how to cook? Miss those days!!!
I totally agree. And I am so sick of shows pitting chefs and regular cooks against Bobby Flay (as if he is the God of cooking).
I kicked Food Network to the curb when it became reality TV ... phony drama.. back stabbing competitions. Seriously, it use to be so much fun and you really learned a lot. I cannot be bothered now with the same old, same old.. Including the same Guy And Bobby!
The "old guard" on Food Network was way better than what is on there now. You can still watch her on PBS weekly. The best cooks are on PBS or Create.
PBS Create is my favorite cooking show. I catch it whenever I have the opportunity!
I watched her all the time, but lost track of what happened to her. I'm thrilled to know that I can still watch her. Thank you for showing this.
She’s my favorite!! There’s just something calming about her. You feel like you’re spending time and learning from your favorite aunt!! ❤
I loved watching Sara. She was part of my Saturday morning. The direction of the Food Network has gone to shitz. All the reality show bullshitz is ridiculous.
I can’t watch the channel anymore

You are absolutely correct. I dearly hope that the now two-decade long "reality show" obsession on every network will finally end.
Sara is probably my favorite chef personality. I miss her shows! Thank you for this post. I found it to be informative and helpful. I am going to buy her cookbooks now.
I really miss the old cooking show where you actually learned something new. I haven’t watched the Food Network years, it all the same old stuff.
Yes, before they went down the route of celebrity cooks.
Americas Test Kitchen TH-cam channel has some videos that sort of capture the spirit of the TV Food network of the 90s
Yep. Just call it the Guy Fieri channel

I don’t watch food network anymore. Everything isn’t a competition.

right and i'm not "getting" the purpose of all the screaming. Love the Kitchen show but screaming unnerves me.

Indeed! Competition shows promote seeming impossibility of producing edible seared scallops or beef Wellington!

I think Sara is one of the most likeable celebrity chefs out there. Food Network really went downhill in the early 2000s
Love 💓😢Sara keep on

I loved watching Sara…..I still use some of her recipes over 20 years later! I gave up Food Network when they gave up real cooking…..
I agree the Food Network is not the same anymore I don’t watch much anymore

Alton Brown, yes! I've always watched anything he's in. I still use his turkey brine recipe every year.
The food network did her a favor when they released her. They turned into a crap channel.
She is one of my favorite cooking shows. Alas, even on PBS, it's rare that you can fine her show. I have given up on cooking shows.
Yes. They really messed up by getting rid of Emeril, Sara, and Alton Brown's Good Eats, among others. Yes, that includes Curtis Aiken too!
Well, Emeril wore out his welcome. Agree about Sara and Alton.
I quit watching
I got tired of Emeril really fast. He was more about personality than cooking.
Wow! Sara is such a wonderful cook. She is a wonderful teacher. We want her back now. We all make mistakes.
She was one of the reasons i learned to cook. I watched her, jacques pepin, justin wilson, the galloping gourmet and many others. ❤❤❤
