I binge listened to A Good Girls Guide to Murder series after seeing you recommending it and I absolutely loved it! Also The Thursday Murder Club is so fun and funny, book 3 is coming out in September 😊 Looking forward to reading more by Lucy Foley as well.

    PLZZ CHECK OUT
The Wintringham Mystery by Anthony Berkeley
Republished for the first time in nearly 95 years, a classic winter country house mystery by the founder of the Detection Club, with a twist that even Agatha Christie couldn't solve! Stephen Munro, a demobbed army officer, reconciles himself to taking a job as a footman to make ends meet. Employed at Wintringham Hall, the delightful but decaying Sussex country residence of the elderly Lady Susan Carey, his first task entails welcoming her eccentric guests to a weekend house-party, at which her bombastic nephew - who recognises Stephen from his former life - decides that an after-dinner seance would be more entertaining than bridge. Then Cicely disappears! With Lady Susan reluctant to call the police about what is presumably a childish prank, Stephen and the plucky Pauline Mainwaring take it upon themselves to investigate. But then a suspicious death turns the game into an altogether more serious affair... This classic winter mystery incorporates all the trappings of the Golden Age - a rambling country house, a seance, a murder, a room locked on the inside, with servants, suspects and alibis, a romance - and an ingenious puzzle. First published as a 30-part newspaper serial in 1926 - the year The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was published, The Wintringham Mystery was written by Anthony Berkeley, founder of the famous Detection Club. Also known as Cicely Disappears, the Daily Mirror ran the story as a competition with a prize of GBP500 (equivalent to GBP30,000 today) for anyone who guessed the solution correctly. Nobody did - even Agatha Christie entered and couldn't solve it. Can you?

Lucy Foley’s books are just next level good. I love them so much and just the way she can tell a story that sucks you in. It’s perfect. I just finished reading the Paris Apartment a couple days ago and gave it five stars. Absolutely loved it. I think my ranking of the three books that I’ve read from her would have to be The Paris Apartment, The Guest List, and then The Hunting Party. But they’re all very good. Would for sure recommend any of them.

Not a Lucy Foley fan. 🤔 She is to mystery what Riley Sager is to thriller-aspiring to mediocrity in writing with "twists" that even M Night Shyamalan would be embarrased of trying to pass off as "twists". 😏 Agatha Christie is a favorite author of mine. Love the Murder of Roger Ackroyd. My favorite Christie as well as my favorite mystery trope (locked room) is found in the ingenious, Cards on the Table. 😍 Roger Osman's series is very enjoyable and great fun. All 3 have been really good. Anthony Horowitz is a "new favorite " author for me. His authorial tone is the most like Christie to me. I know Ware gets that comparison often (undeserving, imo), but she is No Christie. 🤨 I did like One by One, but normally she is a 3 star or less for me. In the Market for Murder sounds good. I'll have to add it to my TBR. I love a cozy mystery. Murder on the Orient Express is very good as well. Most of the Poirot series is well done, and quite a few in the Marple series are good too. Not a fan of her Tommy and Tupence series, but nobody's perfect. 🤷‍♀️

I've liked most of these but I would not place the contemporary writers on the same list with Christie. She set the standard and many of these stories are inspired by hers, and comparisons to her are made in the marketing of these offerings. Therefore not appropriate to have Christie on the same list unless as number one.
