you didn't realise it but the marine you called garp is actually captain morgan. you can see his shattered jaw. this fight with kuro was the reason he wears that metal jaw.
@Robinoyo The nameless solidier is none other than Cpt. "Axehand" Mogan. He got promoted after getting rid of Kuro. And he believes it himself because of this very hypnotisation here. In Live Action Helmeppo said it as well: Usopp is lying because his father had caught Kuro and every navy member would know it. But he got never caught and hid himself as butler.
You know...for all the times I watched and read this series, I just now realized that surviving marine was Captain Morgan. I think it helped that the Live Action Captain Morgan made a fuss about being the one who defeated Kuro. Not sure how I never put that together.
Really?! Hahah! We I first read this arc 20 years ago I caught that. For that reason and Kuro's glasses adjust reveal made me start loving how Oda connects elements.
Devil fruits are a legend on North Blue, West Blue, South Blue and especially East Blue (the latest is considered as the "weakest" ocean) On Grand Line, devil fruits are more known, due to the fact that strongest pirates sail on it... and a lot of strong pirates have eaten devil fruits. It stays a rare thing to see a devil fruit user, but not once in a lifetime.
Since you are comparing live action to the anime, if you recall in episode 1 of the live action, Morgan boasts that he killed Kuro of a Thousand Plans. The live action never went into the details but now you know why he said that even though Kuro is alive.

Yeah.. Idk how you didn't either considering most fans know that.
