As minimalist as this music video is, I appreciate how it captures the hidden melancholy and sadness behind the song. To me, it represents how whenever one is going through a sad/dark time, there are sometimes beautiful moments of distraction where we can put on music, dance around in our loneliness and tell ourselves that "wallowing in it would be such a waste." But - unfortunately - once the moment has finished, we are still left to deal with those feelings on our own. I think Sigrid conveyed this brief moment of happiness even while her solitariness and sadness are in the background amazingly.
Room goes from red to blue to show that despite all the times we say "Wallowing in it would be such a waste" we are still sad and ultimately lonely throughout.
As a filmmaker, i really love this video. So many metaphors (we call it semiotics) that seem to be so seamless in transition. If you slowly follow the video, you will realize that all colours were dominant in bright red and orange. But as the music goes, everything that Sigrid touched and looked, even the lights turn dark blue. Sigrid also took off her jacket from red to blue. Sigrid expressions also seemed to change as she continues singing the song, from happy to sad, you can see from the very last shot she almost cried, very contrast from the beginning of the video. note: Red means love and blue means sadness in this video
Oh my lord, thank you for pointing these out, I was wondering if I missed something in the video, since this version and the TV version is slightly different (also I heard her singing 'I'm a little suicidal but don't feel like crying') and I was so confused but so focused on her movements, but now I see the bigger picture LOL! Same, I really like it. It's so beautiful to me too, so I really apprecuate her not wearing makeup in her videos. (If she does ig it's just camera makeup or smth but not anything that changes or even enhances her face in any way) I find it so beautiful - professional musoc videos, all them props and lighting and creativity, and in the middle of it a natural face. And all her videos I've seen so far are like that, some do have very minimal makeup tho but that's ok, there's so many without and I enjoy them so much.
