So many amazing moments in this. But out of everything, Raziel just standing there looming behind Mobius just cracks me up every time. You know what’s gonna happen and it’s just so satisfying.
Like you can see the smile even without him having a jaw.
I've always thought of the scene where Raziel first encounters the physical soul reaver at king Williams sarcophagus and after restoring the blade moebius quietly says to himself "by my soul you always had me my little blue assassin , but this will be the one and only chance you get, you can be sure of that" and then in this scene the irony is overwhelming since moebius was unable to see this path of his true fate
They did miss the distortion effect there. Were both reaver and raziel, in the same place.. and even when on the same plane of exustence they forgot it.
@@ThirtytwoJ Do you mean when Raziel chooses to be consumed by the blood reaver? If so I believe this is simply because Raziel has made peace with his destiny and there was no opposition from himself or from Kain to alter it
@ThirtytwoJ The distortion only happens when there's 2 Soul Reavers in the same place. The Reaver blade here is still the Blood Reaver.
An epic story...a wonderful game, not just back then...even now, a masterpiece for eternity.
I like how you lined up the locations across time between Raziel and Kain.
Not only that, but the way it was timed between the two.
Makes me sad Tony Jay is no longer with us. I hope square wises up and brings this series back

Got to love Kain's last words to the Eternal God. "You best burrow deep!" Because of course, Kain can now see and fight it forever (or until they both need a break to feed). And Kain is too strong to die and fall into the wheel.

I really liked the little editing embellishments, especially during the Raziel V Kain fights. I also liked how you showed the deceptive chronoplast visions from SR1 as they came to pass with different meanings, such as the Reaver absorbing Ariel. It's a shame you left out the final one, however. Raziel, standing on a precipice, wielding a Kain ensouled Reaver with a look of despair - instead became Kain, wielding the complete Raziel Reaver, looking down on his destroyed world with hope.
In other theory that was when Raziel stood on a balcony after death of Janos and when he achieved fire reaver. So because of SR2 it's not in here)

My thanks for the nostalgia from these beautifullly created memories strung into a movie fitting for fans of old.
Your take on making this a movie did this justice because you included the fights, and omg that 2000s 360 slowmo camera moment with Raziel's killing blow.
Some of the best voice acting ever. Raziel, Kain, and the elder god. Just epic. I really hope this rumor of remastered games in the series is true.

Hands down the best game in my opinion. I remeber when I was a kid I would literally play this game well all them but this one esp over and over and over again. I really really hope they remake these or add onto the epic story

I Hope The Series Gets Remastered with Voice Actors or a A.I. That Sound Exactly The Same as The Original Ones, Then Make a New Game, Then Make a Movie out of it as a Whole.

It's such a fantastic game series. The graphics are pretty dated. But the story and voice acting, 20-28 years later, still some of the best ever made.
Great video, I like how you did the editing to show Kain and Raz at the same points in time together as they journeyed. Sadly I didn't play this title often and had forgotten most of the story. Very nice to revisit it with the release of Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered.

Square did a survey 2 months ago of if people would like a remake / sequel / other game of LOK. Usually these surveys are getting 1K-2K responses. This one for LOK got 70K! responses, so there is hope

I don’t think LoK is the type of story to get a happily ever after. Frankly, I’d be disappointed if it did. It would be nice if the story was finished, though.
With Raziel's death it's already not happy ending. Well, until another paradox, of course...

You know what would be an interesting prequel game? Have the setting be during the fight between the Hylden and Vampires where the two player characters are the Hylden Lord and a younger Janos. It might be difficult finding a voice for Janos but I think it would be interesting to get more of the lore.
Nah both of them going back to the point the elder god appeared and plot twist... Kain or Janos is actually Raziels father. Tho that prob got all fked up by having to rework the story where the blood omen 2 studio botched it all up. Think i recall both being possible twists in the early soul reaver and reaver 2 development but the other studio screwed with the story so bad unexpectedly with their low research garbage writing that they had to scrap several aspects like who Raziels father was. In SR there was a comment bout kain being his father and a different planned ending, but in SR2 when Raziel meets Janos he already knows Raziels name and calls him "my child"... yet obviously the younger human Raziel doesnt recognize him at all. Bit of a cliffhanger they never were able to give an answer on due to having to rework things multiple times
Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau would make a good voice actor for a younger Janos, in my opinion.
The transition at 22:24 from Raziel idly puzzling out his scenario to Kain just absolutely terrorizing those Sarafan priests had me hollering lmao

If they ever make a live action soul reaver movie, i would love for them to get Luke Goss as raziel. The way he played Prince nuada on hellboy 2 was so much like raziel and his voice.

Always loved this story, but still its hard to belive that the squid was unoticed until the end, was it hard for raziel to say to kaine in their own way of speaking "well mobious was not the first one to tell me to kill you, so pherhaps the one who did was his master" or just simply tell kaine about the squid to see if he knew something about it, nor did kaine evet ask about raziel ressurection

Kain travels back in time and kills King William the Just. Causing a paradox that completely details history.
Back to present day Nosgoth.
On a bright grassy knoll, a crowd has gathered to witness the death of the last of vampire kind. The proceedings take place on a raise scaffold, so all eyes can witness this momentous event. Vorador looks up from the guillotine once.
The crowd cheers as Vorador’s head is lopped off, and held high by the executioner.
Kain flights Moebius:
Kain defeats Moebius:
Kain beheads Moebius.
Mortanius:
Come to me, my undead son. Make haste to the Pillars; the stage is set for the grand finale. You will have your vengeance.
LOK DEFIANCE TIMELINE SCREW UP.
Turel dies, and his soul energy flies out of him, into Raziel. Raziel is blasted by the energy as it streams into him. Hylden energy flows out of Turel and into Raziel as well. This energy hits Raziel differently, and he reacts as he absorbs it, doubling over. As he straightens up, his eyes briefly burn with green fire, then fade back to normal.
Mortanius stands in the center of an arcane magical circle, similar to the one at the Pillars, but darker in intention. His back is to Raziel. He speaks as though addressing someone far away, through telepathic sorcery.
Mortanius:
Come to me, my undead son. Make haste to the Pillars - the stage is set for the grand finale. You will have your vengeance.
Kain arrives at the entrance of the Cathedral. He is immediately confronted by Raziel, whose eyes periodically glow green.
Kain and Raziel battle.
Raziel defeats Kain.
Raziel enters the library from the eastern door.
EVERYTHING BEYOND THIS POINT IN THE GAME RUINS THE TIMELINE WITHOUT A PARADOX!
Moebius stands at the balcony, surrounded by his mercenaries.

The voice actors in the last 3 Soule Reaver games have theatre background. That said, even if half the main cast were still alive.. Hypothetically instead of a remaster, they were to try a remake/envisioning with Amy Hennig consulting.. I would hope they look for voice talent that has acting or even theatre experience. One critical thing studios forget these days is either voice direction/context, or voice actors who may have a voice, but cannot "act" when delivering dialogue.. or possibly fail to meet both previous points which really destroys player immersion. That said, who would you pick to replace half the main voice cast that sadly have died? Tony Jay as Elder God, Richard Doyle as Moebius, or Rene Auberjonois as Janos, and the few others? Simon (Raziel) and Michael (Kain) are still alive, but wouldn't sound the same. Michael, even in his mid 80's could pass as "old" Kain voice but Raziel and others recast choice...?
All actors mostly start in theatre you going lol but all the dialogue and story is from the writers.actors just read it off the page.

@vegitogtx9600 which ones? I used PC version, so maybe there were some differences between consoles, but besides that nothing was removed
@@Coldshade Some sfx related with light effects, like when moebious say ''don't threathen me Kain'' in PS2 in that moment there is a spark in Kain's body.
And other effects related with the reavers, and expansive waves when the reaver is overloaded or full power and impact against the enemies, that was removed.

I was using Topaz software to improve cutscenes and textures. I think for texture ripping was used TexMod.

Someone believes she was summoned from beyond SR1 era when activated Spirit Forge. Or maybe Raziel just changed history
The events of Soul Reaver 1 won't occur the same way after Defiance. Possibly not at all, in fact. Obviously we'll never find out what would have happened there instead, since the series was never finished, but essentially everything Kain and Raziel do in Defiance is an attempt to change history and prevent the events that originally lead to Soul Reaver 1 (mainly the corruption of the pillars) from ever happening.
The creator’s stated that she was summoned from the future, post SR1 time.
@@yewtewbstew547Actually, the events of SR 1 never changed. Defiance didn’t change their SR1 past in that way. Defiance allowed Blood Omen 2 to happen and of course would’ve led to Dark Prophecy. But SR1/2 didn’t change.
@@yewtewbstew547lastly it wasn’t an attempt to prevent the SR1, it was an attempt to restore the pillars after that. Afterall, Kain still needs to throw Raziel into the abyss etc. all of that still had to happen.

Also, there's this cool "Kingdom Hearts" fanfic focused around Roxas (that the author told me plans to return to this year) in which one of the worlds he visits is Kain's.
I wished I could say more, but I don't hand out spoilers, so suffice it to say Roxas, by this point, has earned his warrior title of "Destiny's defiant/destroyer", a title he worked towards to earn after refusing to merge back with Sora.
The name is "The Twilight Will".

Honestly, too many of the original cast are no longer with us. Tony Jay (The Elder God), Rene Auberjonois (Janos Audron), Paul Lukather (Vorador), these are voice actors that cannot easily be replaced and their memories deserve better than for AI to fill in the gaps left in their absence.
Having said that, if people want to retell the story, a reboot would be for the best. New voice actors, ones who will be available for the duration of the project and maybe a finale to the storyline would be nice. However, the concept of hope at the end of Defiance does give a pretty good ending in itself.
I published this idea for a crossover yesterday. A crossover in which a seed from the Flower of "Drakengard 3" (trying to escape the prison Mikhail was sending the Flower to) escaped to the "Demon Slayer" universe, accidentally tearing open reality rifts that brought Six from "LN" and old Kain (post-Defiance) himself to that universe as well.
The result is that Kain, feeling pity for the unconscious transforming Nezuko and wanting to make an experiment of how much corruption he lost, he turns her mother and the oldest of the girl's younger siblings into vampires. The reason for the mother it's obvious. The reason for the sibling is because he did not know of Tanjiro, and therefore he thought the oldest of the young males he found among the crimson pools was supposed to be the patriarch, given the clear lack of a father figure.
One important detail to note however is that it seems Kain might have been infected at some capacity during his transfer.

Great game unfortunately defiance screwed up the continuity of the story line.
...the writing is so much better in 2, I can replay most of 2 scenes over and over and not get bored. Most of these don't have repeat value...except... "Given the choice to rule a corrupt and failing empire."
