He makes his own wood screws. Over 50 years in the machinist trade, and I've never seen anyone take the time to make their own wood screws. Masterful. Frank
And even more impressive when you realize that, in normal use, these works-of-art screws aren't even visible. Only the builder and whoever takes this apart at some future date will ever know....(except for us of course).
Not necessarily. Owning such a clock is a privilege , but owning one that you yourself have built and spent tens (if not hundreds) of hours upon is indescribable. It's a great pride and pleasure to use something you've built yourself; the satisfaction is fantastic.
There is always haters. I have my haters even with 10 subs :D Always watch the ratio between likes and silikes. 3200 compared to 6. Just dont care them :)
Seriously, who "dislikes" these videos? On a bad day (like that's possible) Clickspring is better than anything on television. Amazing work (machining and editing) as ever, man.
I mean, at this point it doesn't need to be said that the quality of video/work is outstanding, but holy cow that wood! So beautiful, and it almost looks 3d. Just amazing.
Your camerawork is excellent, Chris. The macro shots really bring the viewer into the work. So many times while watching your videos I've forgotten how small the things that I'm looking at really are. Cheers mate.
Amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail, not to mention superb video lighting and editing skills. This is truly Best Of TH-cam! Thank you so much!!!
Unspeakably, heart breakingly beautiful work. You made your own wood screws?!?!?!?! And even screws that will never see the light of day again, after assembly, were made to perfection. Yours is some of the finest craftsmanship I have ever seen.
Ladies and Gentlemen... The Ten-Thousand Hour Handmade Clock. A sheer masterpiece of design and engineering, and after all that hand-finishing, and hand-made fasteners, it had BETTER be. ;)
You made your own woodscrews! They do say genius is close to madness.... Amazing videos, keep up the good work and I can't wait to see the final result.
The month wait from the last video was a killer, but dude, I'm left speechless. Those legs and the results on that wood base are nothing short of incredible.
Oh my. What beautiful little screws you make. Chris. You are the epitome of making absolutely gorgeous machining videos. Thank you so much. Starting my weekend with the videos.
10:40 Did anyone else have to go back and watch those wood screws being made? Like about 10 times? lol That is just awesome! You've outdone yourself with this video, Chris! Bravo!
I had to pull over and watch this when I got to notification that there was a new clickspring video! I can't get enough of this stuff! Especially when you add beautiful wood working! Well done again Chris! Thank you for your videos!
I write software. I never touched a lathe in my life, or even seen one for real. Yet I can't get enough of your videos, I have literally now seen them all. It's reassuring, that your attention to details ends up paying up, and gives noticeable results. Other programmers I work with always complain that I try to do things "too" right on the first try and spend an hour looking for the best solution before writing a single line of code, so it feels good to see I'm not alone. Like you, I do get tunnel vision some times, and lose sight of deadlines. Anyway, your videos are amazing, your craftsmanship is amazing. If you made a video of just your end results, it would look like "CGI Stock Picture of Brass Clock Parts #89273". They're so perfect they look CG! I love that! Cheers!
I must say in making the precision wood screws this build is of the highest level. Amazing to watch. To keep the clock looking that good a glass case should be on a future episode.
That is a beautiful piece of wood you found. Nice job on the finish. I had a feeling that the legs were not going to stay the way they were. The brass work and the wood really compliment each other Can't wait for the next video
Chris, this is truly magnificent! I honestly don't know which is better....the quality of your videos or the quality of your craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing!
That wood is beautiful. It almost looks like marble. I am putting an Arcade cabinet together myself, but it is no where note worthy like your craftsmanship is. In my project wood filler has become my best friend ;-).
I just wanted to praise you on your editing and camera angle work. You've improved tremendously, which is a large statement considering your original first few videos were amazing already.
A bravura performance. A vast improvement on the appearance of the clock. Textbook illustration of form tools and their use. A really beautiful piece of wood for the base. And you can indeed use a mill as a router. . Usually mills run too slow to do a really good job, but you got an extra boost because of the big radius on the router bit = faster surface speed which is what counts. What else could I ask for? I know: a description of french polishing. Oh, that's your next video! Off to watch it.
Absolutely Stunning Chris!..............Super sweet idea on offsetting the compound a few degrees on the rope knurl, it really added to the effect! Thumbs up!
Man i love these videos, i do not think i will ever make one but these videos of yours are so relaxing, i wish you would post more of them. it makes me cry when there are no more for awhile.
He makes his own wood screws.
Over 50 years in the machinist trade, and I've never seen anyone take the time to make their own wood screws.
Masterful.
Frank
Thanks for the encouragement Frank, very much appreciated :)
I don't have your experience, but that's a first here, too. Prettiest wood screws I've ever seen.
And even more impressive when you realize that, in normal use, these works-of-art screws aren't even visible. Only the builder and whoever takes this apart at some future date will ever know....(except for us of course).
An amateur clock making he says! an AMATEUR!!!
Amateur means hes not making money off of it. Professional means the opposite
Not his profession, therefor he is not a professional. Be damn, he sure could be.
mrgod 🤔 😂😂😂😂😂
mrgod master machinist, amateur clock maker.
Chris' videos are the literal meaning of the term "a labour of love", everything is done so perfectly. Bravo Chris
Cheers Marcus, great to have you watching mate :)
Cant wait until this clock is finished. It must be worth thousands and thousands
Not necessarily. Owning such a clock is a privilege , but owning one that you yourself have built and spent tens (if not hundreds) of hours upon is indescribable. It's a great pride and pleasure to use something you've built yourself; the satisfaction is fantastic.
He said on another video that this clock is not going to be sold. It is a present for his wife. That will be awesome when it is presented.
It's a priceless piece.
Its undoubtedly hundreds of hours, the question is whether or not it's thousands.
That's a figure I've been wondering about and would love to find out.
4 dislikes? who could possibly dislike any Clickspring video? this is damn beautiful
Heh probably other crafters and video makers. Chris sets the bar pretty high.
There is always haters. I have my haters even with 10 subs :D
Always watch the ratio between likes and silikes. 3200 compared to 6. Just dont care them :)
My thought exactly
Agreed. I mean, come on. Who makes their own wood screws?
The exact thought crossed my mind, "am I really watching someone making their own wood screws" Chris makes me feel inadequate and lazy
That piece of wood is absolutely gorgeous.
That's what she said.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Nope, I guess I pretty much set myself up for that one :D
Your right it looks like fire absolutely beautiful
Thank you 😌👍
Smithsonian grade work! Thanks for the outstanding series! The downers are simply FUBAR!

Seriously, who "dislikes" these videos? On a bad day (like that's possible) Clickspring is better than anything on television. Amazing work (machining and editing) as ever, man.
People just click it cuz they dont care and want to F with people's heads
I mean, at this point it doesn't need to be said that the quality of video/work is outstanding, but holy cow that wood! So beautiful, and it almost looks 3d. Just amazing.

Quality over quantity, and this quality is phenomenal. Great work Chris
Your camerawork is excellent, Chris. The macro shots really bring the viewer into the work. So many times while watching your videos I've forgotten how small the things that I'm looking at really are. Cheers mate.
That wood is lovely... from some angles it looks like the surface of another planet.
your entire site is a testament to detail, craftsmanship and perfection. well done
Never thought a timepiece could be so timeless...
Amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail, not to mention superb video lighting and editing skills. This is truly Best Of TH-cam! Thank you so much!!!

This is not normal, you are a real gifted man. Amazing work!
Masterpiece! Absolutely a thing of beauty!
Unspeakably, heart breakingly beautiful work. You made your own wood screws?!?!?!?! And even screws that will never see the light of day again, after assembly, were made to perfection. Yours is some of the finest craftsmanship I have ever seen.
Terrific to have you watching Terry :)
Ladies and Gentlemen... The Ten-Thousand Hour Handmade Clock. A sheer masterpiece of design and engineering, and after all that hand-finishing, and hand-made fasteners, it had BETTER be. ;)
I was possibly unreasonably excited to see a wood screw be turned
The clock is not your only work of art... I could watch you make screws all day long... Beautiful work all around...
Wow, making your own wood screws - dedication! As always, simply superb work. :)
You made your own woodscrews! They do say genius is close to madness....
Amazing videos, keep up the good work and I can't wait to see the final result.

It must have been a little tough to cut into those frames!
Oh boy was it ever!!
That piece of wood is marvelous.
Good job Chris, your videos are alway inspiring! Thank you
Чувство прекрасного и чувство меры выше всяких похвал. Многое узнал, хоть и не считаю себя новичком в обработке металла)))
Stunning work. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Probably the coolest wood grain I've ever seen.
This is one of the best series of youtube videos I've watched. Great job!
The month wait from the last video was a killer, but dude, I'm left speechless. Those legs and the results on that wood base are nothing short of incredible.

You are a true master of detail and polish!!
I can't even express how gorgeous that this project is coming out, and that burl wood was a wonderful choice!
I am a wood worker and I find the the way a machinist like you would make something out of wood
Breakfast and Clickspring, what a great way to start a weekend!
10:40 Did anyone else have to go back and watch those wood screws being made? Like about 10 times? lol
That is just awesome!
You've outdone yourself with this video, Chris! Bravo!
That plinth is a remarkable piece of art just by itself. The way you incorporated wood with the brass is amazing.
I can't get enough of your videos. I wish you would upload more often.
Beautiful choice in wood, looks excellent so far
If this ever gets finished, i want a 12h video of this just running along. I love your videos. Thank you for your work!

That piece of wood looks absolutely beautiful!
Wow. The finish and quality is superb. The base looks like polished marble. Well done.
