I can't express enough how valuable these videos are to people like me that want to do their own work. TH-cam in some ways is like free college classes. Anything you want to learn within reason is here for the taking. Just like with college, some professors are better than others at explaining things and teaching. You are easily at the top of your field. Good stuff brother. Thanks for sharing.
Yes followed this video closely and did mine. I had a slight misalignment with the mark at the bottom of the shock (ront) and it was not sitting inside the fork correct. Thankfully it was only slight and after release the told fork bolt and pushing up the hub it all fell in place. Thanks BIG Dog50001 !
Reallly well-organized and edited. I appreciate especially how you not only show what to do, but also talk about your techniques (like loading before tightening the bolts), and other things that might occur. Your planning, thought process, and execution is very clear. Thank you!
You are an absolute pro. I watched another video and there is no comparison, he took way more stuff off that made the job 3 times as long and more difficult. I think I can do it now, thanks a million.
I like that you include similar models in the title. I have yet to work on a Honda for two reasons. One, they're not many around where I live and two, (no surprise to you) they just don't break that often. Well, to be honest, I don't really advertise that I work on cars so no one knows about me. I pace myself. (ha ha) Interesting name, "compliance bushing". I come from an aviation maintenance back ground so I'm a big believer in torquing fasteners. Great video.
Great work - and great video - i'm just curious about alignments - when its just a single wishbone - i understand that its a must, but with this double wishbone - does it change any of the geometry? what is even adjustable on these accords? is it just the steering endlinks? thanks for your help
Excellent video... Helpful indeed.. Especially with loading the strut.. lowering the car to load the spring would have created an issue with the design of these KYB struts.
Pro tip from Eric the car guy: if the wishbone bolt is seized, which as this vid mentions is common, you can leave the seized bolt, disconnect upper ball joint and sway bar link and tie rod end and release the strut that way.
Thanks for the advice. I would say mine is seized. After PB Blaster, mini sledge, impact wrench, two cheater bars, a broken socket, torch heat and the bolt has not budged at all.
fucking A this is beautiful. Every other video I have watched were recommending me to go bash out the knuckle or include 14 other steps to get the strut out. You come in here with 200iq movement of just using the jack to slight raise the arm to gain more clearance. IDK how this video doesn't have more views
Very nice video. Ax question for you: Would OEM v6 accord struts fit on a v4 accord? Is there going to a difference in the ride ( aside from being different part #s). Someone is selling a pair brand new & i can't get a definite answer anywhere for this.
Dave, first off Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope its a safe and healthy one. Excellent video with a lot of very useful info. Santa was good this year he dropped off quite a few ATG training books thanks to Sandra at the Automotive Training Group. Excellent person and group to do business with. Hope you and your family had an enjoyable Christmas. Coffee time to enjoy my brew from my friend Mike the Disgruntled Mechanic. Mike if you are here the cup makes the difference Lol. Artie ❤️️

I took my shock off my 07 Honda Accord to replace cv axle after reinstall I’m getting a pop/Clunk noise sounds like its coming from strut how do I know if everything is oriented right?
i am currently working on my 05 accord. Watched one video an think i had it figured out. spayed the pinch bolt with pb. Went to crank on it with a wrench instead of using an impact tool. snapped the head off the bolt off. having trouble trying to extract it. Any suggestions on how?
I have 91K on my OE struts and I think they are due for a replacement. Do you think the KYB Excel-G is comparable to OE struts? If it is I would rather save some money and apply it to fuel :)
I think Honda OEM struts are better but they are usually very expensive and can sometimes be difficult to find for certain models. For the price, KYB make very good struts in my opinion and I use them a lot on Hondas.
So if the aftermarket struts doesn't have that Ring to support the strut over the fork means that the suspension is supported only over the bolt ? Looks like a bad design
very good video, however, I have always taken the nut off rather than try to spin the bolt, to me is just less contact area and less to have to overcome plus, I am sure those bolts are fluted for a reason, seems to me spinning them is going to reduce some of that...I am Not being critical of your methods, I am just offering options....
Big Dog, I tightened my new struts and new lower control arms bolts without a load a few months back. Should I go back and loosen and retighten the bolts this time with a load? I also noticed my car is higher on one side. Could this also be a problem? Thanks.
I would re-torque them properly if it was my car (fairly easy to do). Ride height (probably not associated with the work that you did) is commonly off from one side to the other on many vehicles.
Big Dog50001 Automotive Will do. Thanks for your help. Btw, just surpassed 200k on my 07 Accord. You’re videos have helped with the longevity. I look forward to your future postings. 👍
A just dropped 3 struts and my o6 accord, that right front is not coming out tonight its rusted in there good, soaking some wd40 overnight ill takcle it tomorrow🤓

You are an absolute pro. I watched another video and there is no comparison, he took way more stuff off that made the job 3 times as long and more difficult. I think I can do it now, thanks a million.
Excellent video! You explained every step and why in detail. Thanks
The amount of detail you put into every job is amazing.
I try! Thanks for the comment!
Nice work man! Both on the mechanical side and your production side.
I installed KYB rear shocks on our '02 Odyssey. Not OEM, but so far so good. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for the input and the comment!
Great job Big Dog!! Straight and to the point with spot on specs..
Absolutely excellent video! Very clear and shows how to do the job without a lift. Great.
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Great video with fantastic descriptions and explanations but also concise. Gives me confidence to sort my own Accord out! Thanks.
I appreciate the comment, thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video. I had no idea that there was a left and right strut. Plus the lower bolt needs to be replaced too.
👍
Man thanks for that tip on jacking up the control arm to get the Schock assembly out .
👍
Wow that car is clean ! When you say see the rust , I'm like what rust . In Canada that whole undercarriage would be rust. Great video
Congrats on the 20K mark! You deserve it. Ok now back to the video!
Thanks Mike!

Thanks for the comment Wyatt!
Great video. I really like the way you explain what you are doing AND the why. I have an 05 that need new suspension.
Thanks 👍!
Another great and thorough video as always thanks again Big Dog 👍

Awesome video and master tech tips! learned a lot!
Great video, thanks Big Dog
👍
Pro tip from Eric the car guy: if the wishbone bolt is seized, which as this vid mentions is common, you can leave the seized bolt, disconnect upper ball joint and sway bar link and tie rod end and release the strut that way.
Just be careful of the brake like and speed sensor.
Thanks for the advice. I would say mine is seized. After PB Blaster, mini sledge, impact wrench, two cheater bars, a broken socket, torch heat and the bolt has not budged at all.
Great work on the details.
Thanks!
Top notch as always
Thanks Jonathan!
Really excellent tips. Thank you.
Great vid! I might even try this myself lol
Thanks 👍!
Very nice and clean work,!!!!
Thanks 👍!
Love the info ..do I have to get the car front end alignment after replacing struts ?
Yes sir you answered my question about the alignment ! Great video and definitely subscribing!!
As Always Great video with excellent instructions and tips. Too bad KYB does NOT provide complete "Strut-Plus" for the rear end of the car.
👍
Great video, excellent detail. Thank you
Thanks 👍!

Great video 👍👍 and details. Thanks
Very well done.
Thanks!
Realy helpfull,Thanks!!
I appreciate the comment, thanks!
Im about to do this on my honda, what else would you recommend i change so the suspension feels like a brand new car?
Does the v6 use exactly same struts as 4cyl?
Idk you will respond to my comment but where can i buy the front bumper and new headlights? I got a 2007 accord it has a sunroof idk it's an lx or Ex.
Excellent, thanks!
Pretty good video
great work thanx for the tips
Glad it helped!
I took my shock off my 07 Honda Accord to replace cv axle after reinstall I’m getting a pop/Clunk noise sounds like its coming from strut how do I know if everything is oriented right?
Can a civic strut be used on an 2003 Honda accord
Do you know the Fork hole dimension
How important is it to replace the fork bolt and locknut? They are expensive and I would have to wait longer to have them shipped in...
Not very, but you should check after 1k miles
i am currently working on my 05 accord. Watched one video an think i had it figured out. spayed the pinch bolt with pb. Went to crank on it with a wrench instead of using an impact tool. snapped the head off the bolt off. having trouble trying to extract it. Any suggestions on how?
Drilling, cutting and a torch are probably in your future unfortunately.
How those KYB's struts are working out for your Honda so far are they good?
I have not had any issues with KYB struts or shocks.
So if the aftermarket struts doesn't have that Ring to support the strut over the fork means that the suspension is supported only over the bolt ?
Looks like a bad design
I bought some struts and they're not in line like the factory..What do I have to do is off about a quarter of a inch
very good video, however, I have always taken the nut off rather than try to spin the bolt, to me is just less contact area and less to have to overcome plus, I am sure those bolts are fluted for a reason, seems to me spinning them is going to reduce some of that...I am Not being critical of your methods, I am just offering options....
Good video .I like👌🤨👌
Thanks!
Big Dog, I tightened my new struts and new lower control arms bolts without a load a few months back. Should I go back and loosen and retighten the bolts this time with a load? I also noticed my car is higher on one side. Could this also be a problem? Thanks.

What’s the purpose of replacing the lower bolt and pinch bolt?
Giving them more money !
What impacts are you using?
I typically use Milwaukee impact wrenches and Sunex impact sockets.
@@BigDog50001 pretty pricey.. 💵
A just dropped 3 struts and my o6 accord, that right front is not coming out tonight its rusted in there good, soaking some wd40 overnight ill takcle it tomorrow🤓
Good idea!
Wow that car wasn’t from the rust belt!
Nope!
Yes
👍
Do you live in Cali?
Not for many years.
Soo, strut tower bolts tighter than lower fork to strut bolt eh
I have them same punches
They work well and were not very expensive.
If you paint mark the old part, and the old part doesnt go back in, 😂
I'm going to need a new Jack
Where's all the rust?
