I always smile by first pausing the video to find the winning move. sometimes I do, but sometimes the sacrifices are extraordinary. Yes these are interesting videos, and they make me smile!
I love how you demonstrate the tactical variations, you make it seem so understandable, the speed and timing and pauses are perfect, the repetition is perfect. So cool, if white takes rook white gets checkmated. by bishop and queen. Excellent video. thank you Mato.
My two favorite players are Alekhine (1892-1946) and Tal (1936-1992). Thank you, Mato for showing me so many of their wonderful games. I would love to see what would happen if they played each other. Unfortunately Alekhine did not live long enough for this to happen.... This game may perhaps provide a small clue as to what might have happened.
Because of the way you display games and the "guess the right move" moments in your videos , I am 30% better at chess. You are the best man subbed and liked.
I have no problem with the name, a bloke called Gedevanishvili moved to Australia in the late 80s or early 90s. Same name, bit it mightn't be the same bloke.
@@oneeyedphotographer it was the same bloke. Me and a mate had him as a chess coach for a year or two in the 90s. What a legend. I didn't know then that he'd played Tal!!!

Managed to see this one before you said it was the critical position :D Admittedly I played a very similar sacrifice in a King's Gambit game which turned out to be mate in 5. Sadly, I missed mate in 7 the move before :( Thankfully my opponent was too concerned about 3 of my pieces attacking f7 to notice the Knight sacrifice ;P Thanks for making this video for us Mato!
Sir....your channel has reignited my love for chess. Thanks for your posts and brilliant commentary, which is something like reading a chess book guide but much much better and fun.
Tal is a magician. Truly said like a magician's tricks seem to have no logic until he reveals the secret. Tal's sacrifices seem crazy for the average player until he displays his brutal skill winning the game.
Ha ha ha...Not only genius but also he was a chess magician.... I never see such a player playing this type of sacrificing pieces in almost every game....
There is a quote, I think by Najdorf, that goes like this "If Tal sacrifices a piece, take it. If Petrosian sacrifices a pieces don't take it. If Spassky sacrifices a piece, resign!"
The opponent should have left the room immmediately afterTal made a sacrifice, thus avoiding the embarrasment of the scrutiny of his shortcomings in chess...Great Tal, the greatest attacker in the history of Chess.
MatoJelic at 6:25 why didn't he capture the bishop with rook so black king can escape to f8? Thanks! I like all your videos, they really help me with my chess!
Like if you like Mato's video before watching it!!! I do it everytime... Hats off to Mato!!! Because of you i learned to play chess... Your voice is soo awesome... your accent is superb!!!!
Alexander Alekhine. His games had incredibly complicated positions and this almost always favored him. Lasker once said of him: "Alekhine's attacking genius has no equal in the history of the game".
Because king would have gone to h7 and Queen to h6 wouldn't work. There's a reason Tal was the greatest chess player of all time, whereas you will never even dream of being a chess player of good calibre.
i find when i try to play like tal, i screw up more than i win and m rating takes a hit. its one thing to do this stuff solving chess problems by yourself or playing for fun, it's a whole different ballgame when you do this in tournaments
2:08; I think the simple Bd7 would have been fine, better than castling. Castling in this position is dangerous, and doing it against Tal is a death wish. Also, at 0:34, I understand Black was doubling up White's pawns on the c-file, but this exchange is completely unnecessary. Black could have played the simple Nc6 and if White decides to exchange knights on d5, fine. Let him do it.

Great game, great sacrifices! Thanks, Mato!
Thank you Mato this is fantastic as usual !
Tal`s videos are my favorite ones!
The killa move was easier to find than pronouncing Tal's opponent name.

All Tal´s games were marvelous.

"The Magician" is the greatest player of all time!
Mato... the Bob Ross of chess commentary
In all Tal's games the other player is defending all the time, what aggressive style!!!
+Franz El Gato Search Fischer vs Tal and Nezhmetdinov vs Tal
yup Nezhmetdinov was Tal's teacher.
Except when you watch Tal vs Keres :)
Sacrifices make chess very interesting for real
Mato, tnx for the game. Extra tnx for the tal game. You r great. Nice to have some new vids.
I play standard chess (30 min) on chess.com, and I went from 1000 to 1250 thank to ur videos. Great work
Like always, Amazing Tal!!!!
He had controlled the mind of his opponents.
Mikhail Tal #1 , Kasparov #2
I am so glad I found you Mato.
Excellent analysis.
Your variations show you could have played as well as Tal.
I have one question here, can we say objectively that Tal was the most unpredictable player of all time?
Ha ha ha...Not only genius but also he was a chess magician.... I never see such a player playing this type of sacrificing pieces in almost every game....
the best chess lecture mr matto jelic
What's so interesting to me is that Tal won so many games with sacrifices. It's his trademark style!
If I was playing black vsTal, it was like :
"White to E4, and black... RESIGNED.."
At 5:38 after rook to G8, what if pawn takes pawn at e5?
I am having a hard time figuring whites next move.
Great chess videos
Your videos are great as usual !!! Question who was the attack master before Tal?
I love your videos Mato!
I ask my self what would Tal do and always guess right. ...not that I would have the nerve!
theres a fantastic game Tal Fischer where Tal was defending and won "The greatest player vs the greatest attacker"
Moto yet impresses me prepare to discuss your party chess, amazing memory!
That queen trapping was awesome
thank u so much mato.....tal play in charming way
The way he says,"check...mate."
when tal offer gifts, don't take it.
+Sairam Lingineni He's like Santa, except Santa doesn't mate you in under 30 turns.

Mato your The Man Tnx..
I would like tradution for português write in movo. Because in my country the language is português.
in 3:55 how about we move the queen to h5. notice if he takes the other rook we can still defend by moving the rook to f1.
at 2:17, after 1. ... Nxd4, instead of 2. Ne4, is it also possible to play 2. Rxd4 Qxd4 3. Bb5+ winning the queen?
Mato ? I just want to ask you some question ! How can i learn some tricky move, how much i must watch your video ?

what if black captured bishop with rook? Does he still have no "winning" variations?
haha nevermind i' blind
MrTakba I thought so too. So king can escape to g8 perhaps
5:25 Why not just Rg4?
check.........mate!
What if at 5:37 black plays f5 is that good?
Saw both sacs, woohoo!
Did you know that Dmitry Gedevanishvili is an Australian FM?
Queen to d6 checkmate ah ah ah. Mato's voice reminds me of the count from Sesame Street.

Rh8+! Kxh8
Qh6+ Kg8
Qg7++
Tal's sicillian attack: ''It's an offer you can't refuse''
Cool game!
Maestro Tal, the best instance of Virgil´s phrase: Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes.
6:29 why not just move rook to g4 then queen to h6?

Thanks Mato
Awesome
excuse me, on 3:19 should be not rook take queen but first bishop take h7 checs then queen h5 check
Qué bueno.
Tal loved country of Georgia, he was several time in Tbilisi and Batumi also
at 2.00 why didnt rook go straight up and take thew pawn - king would be bare
