Except I wanna use it for hauling mine and my daughters dirt bikes and wife polaris to races and camping. But I dig all the features. Outlets, ways to plug truck up, alarm locking etc. Well done.
I made them. They are simply a spring stick screwed to the bottom of the cabinet (towards the back). The stick has a small knob on the front side of it which sticks up through into the drawer. If you would like, I can post a little video of it tomorrow.
I was thinking about your truck an I was wondering if yu ould find the time to do like a Zombie Apocalypse video. Were its just you(maybe one other guy) and your truck, in the woods and you mill your own wood and make a small cabin. I dont know, just a thought. you know I love your truck
Hi, the locking system is something I invented, I call it the TAILLOCK, It is patent pending. It operates with a key FOB and for someone who is constantly going in & out of the truck & parking in city areas too, it cant be beat. It has been in use for 2 years now. I would be happy to tell you more about it, thanks for asking!
Didn't mean to type Ron Paulk as a comment. I noticed that he had been mentioned a few times and was attempting to do a search and got my wires crossed. Checked him out, nice work, however (in my opinion) yours is more to my liking. Superb job!
Very, very nice setup on your truck! Seems you have all your bases covered. Nice job. I have allways believed in being organized, as I am a Carpenter too, and throughout my career I have always been changing and tweeking my setup, trying to be the most organized, accessable, and secure, I can make it.
Awesome setup! Setting up a regular size cargo van myself. I really liked many of the ideas and will incorporate the whiteboard and maybe the magazine bins for caulk and paint. Sounds like you are getting a new van - I look forward to seeing the new setup.
I'm in the auto business at a commercial (among other things) truck dealership. We try to equip our trucks "work ready" with shelving and such. You should hook up with a dealership in your area to do this sort of thing for the guy who has no clue how or what's possible. Could be a lucrative side job. Very well done sir, and great video tour too. Hope business is good!
Thanks a lot! Click the link above to see a slightly more current version of it on American Innovator. - I get a lot of requests for such things. It takes quite a bit of time (& dime) to do such a thing. Most people in the industry have the ability to do this themselves. It is also so personalized for specific needs, it would be hard to create a "standard" at a dealership. I would however enjoy the process & individual design needed for each truck, but I don't think most people are willing to pay for it....
Go for it! this box is only 14', and packed! I love the trailer idea, although it would not work well for me in the commercial woodworking environment.
@kentnet11, sorry for the late reply, I found an inverter to be better for the quick uses, instead of continually firing up a generator. If I need it for an extended amount of time, I just start up the truck. (It is actually quieter than a generator anyway)
sweet! im currently fixing up my car to a very good KBB rating so i can afford a box truck to live in, store a track motorcycle and with the extra money fix it up. i have my eye on one that has a separate living space partitioned off already. but i wanted to fix up the back to make it a mobile garage, so i can travel to the track and camp. this is a great look at the necessary storage options for a work truck.
Thank You! The side ladder racks came from VertiTrack. The additional plug in is easy to do with a basic understanding of relays. When the truck is plugged in, the relay is powered & opens the inverter circuit & closes the power circuit. If this is not done, something will blow up...... The back door locking system is a product we are developing & currently in patent pending status. It is called the "TailLock" If you are interested in getting one, let me know. Brian
that has to be the most well thought out and executed mobile workshop ive ever seen.. i imagine you do a lot of custom closets, if not, you should just for your organizational skills. the only thing i was hoping was for you to show all the festool equipment you have stored. they obviously had someone like you mind when they designed the cases for their tools. i imagine you could easily outfit another box truck and turn a decent profit selling it to another contractor. amazing... was waiting for some flip up work tables and a retractable awning to be on the passenger side of the truck..
Thank You very much! I thought of the flip up work tables on the outside, but it ended there. I dont think I would use it. As far as the awning goes, I am installing one on the rear of the truck this spring. I just installed a garage door opener. Hey there, nice job! I like it, organized acessable, user friendly, everything you need in a mobil work shop. I bought a 16' x 7' cargo trailer 2 years ago for the same and it seems like I'm always changing and remodeling it for new tools or space. Anyways looks good and I might steal a few ideas from you! I'm always
very nice, I am borrowing some of your ideas for my trailer! Its amazing how many man hours you lose throughout the course of a week from searching through a pig sty to find what you/your guys need.
Great truck. I am doing the same thing with a step van now. Where did you get the side ladder rack and power locking system? Also, I have a power inverter which powers the truck but I do not have a power inlet to plug the truck into a direct power souce. Is it pretty easy to add?
AWSOME STUFF , I have bult some amazing industrial process trailers and I am jealous of your trailer , great work my man. I am going to build my own soon ,just may have to use yours for some ideas......that is a compliment I assure you. Thanks
Thanks Scott! I'm always improving on it. Check it out in the link I posted in the description. It is on the American Innovator, it shows many of the improvements. The ladders are store behind the tool box in that full height cabinet. I keep a 2',4', & 6'. Any thing other than that, I hang on the side of the truck.
Hi, just watched your video, thanks for showing your ideas. Im building a shop trailer for the farm and am curios where you got the white containers. why did you use an inverter instead of a generator? thanks for the help
Wow, this is a carpenters dream! I'm trying to choose an inverter, I was hoping you could help me out a little. Does the 5000 watt inverter give you 15 amps for miter saw and table saw no problem? I was researching a little and best I could figure is a miter saw might pull as much as 32 amps at start up which is still less than 4000 watts but I read in some places that people were having a hard time with 5000 watt inverters running skill saws and such so I was thinking I should splurge and get a 3000/6000. I definitely don't want to burn up my motors. And does it require dual battery? I was hoping to keep just the one. And also should I get sine wave? Thanks in advance.
Hi! I am actually using a 3000 watt continuous inverter now. It runs a tablesaw, chop saw, and small compressor with no problem. (although not all at the same time...) I found that my 5000 watt required the truck to be running most of the time which defeated the purpose. However, when it it cold out, and if your batteries are not in perfect order, you will need to keep the truck running to handle the start up surge of a cold electric motor.
I have a question about this incredible set up, with the two power inlets (the lead and the one for use at a loading dock) if you are running it from the lead doesn't the one at the back become live too?
That is a great question! I have a great answer! I have a powered relay in between the two inlets, which disconnects the opposing one during use. There is also an additional relay which shuts off the inverter system when the truck is plugged in.
Hi, I am also building a truck similqr to this one , video gave me couple of good ideas . And I have one question how does your inverter batteries get charged while on the road do they get charged from the truck alternator or from outside source .
The inverter runs on the 2 truck batteries. I chose not to install an isolator with additional batteries. So, while the truck is running the batteries get charged as usual. However, I use a toggle relay system to allow me to also plug in the truck with constant power. When this happens, the batteries are trickle charged at the same time. Hope that helps!
That is a bad ass set up. What are you running the power inverter off of? I was told that if hooked up to the battery even with the truck running it would ruin the battery and not work? Where did you find the heavy duty locking system to lock the doors?
Damian Sullivan you may decrease the overall life of the battery however I’m running 2 deep cell marine batteries and I plug the truck in that has a battery conditioner on it as well, I have no problems, get about 2 to 3 years out of the batteries

Yes, sometimes, lol. But I think they ultimately enjoy it. Almost everything has a place, so almost no time is lost searching for things.
Nice chop saw.
Great ideas for my box truck 👍
What side is your box truck.. How wide, long and height??
Yes, but the security system is top notch, including a GPS tracking system & 2 loop recording security cameras. Thanks for your concern!
Awesome setup. Your employees most likely have no idea how good they have it lol
Do you have some sort of transfer switch, pull you off the inverter when you plug in bldg power into the box truck?
Ac & Heat or fan in the back?
You and Ron Paulk should team up and design truck shop compartments for others.
