just watched this video from 9 years ago. Rory hasn't changed a bit. Still doing great job now with AutoTrader. I am actually looking at getting Mini JCW as this is still a great, fun car.
Great review, as someone who has owned one since September you have try one to believe just how good they are. All-round everyday performance car with some great technology. World class.
Enjoy mate! I'm having a hard time deciding between this and an M235i. The sensible house seems to be the BMW but I currently have a Mini One D as a courtesy car, it's horrendously slow but the rest of it is absolutely brilliant, I can only imagine how much fun the JCW is!
We got one of the first available in the UK and test drove it two weeks before any press release as we had the previous one, i got home from school one day and it was sitting on the drive and i just fell in love, id been in it a couple times before and loved it then. Every time it starts up i think my brain produces a plethora of endorphins. It sounds beautiful and looks so, i love it.
Greetings from Spain!, just got this car and it´s absolutely fantastic, a bat out of hell, and I must say your review was really helpful on my decision.
Bought mine at the beginning of Feb and get my clammy paws on it in a couple of weeks (unless Mini move the goalposts on delivery date again), so I took a huge leap of faith throwing all that cash at a car I'd not even seen in the flesh. Been a rabbid Mini owner for 8 and a half years and it still puts a huge smile on my face, so I'm confident this will be fun. Went out in my local Mini dealership's demo 2015 JCW a couple of days ago and it feels and sounds great. All the roars and pops are a real giggle and to say it goes like shit off a shovel puts it mildly.
Malc Wells I totally agree about how they still put a smile on your face. I've had my 08 Cooper S for almost a year now and I literally still look forward to getting in it every single time. Sometimes when I get out I just look at it for a second and think "man I really love you". LOL. I think it's hilarious when people tell me I have a "girl car". If they only knew the fun they were missing out on.
Rory Reid Took delivery of mine on Saturday. Fricken epic! Can't stop smiling and it doesn't matter how much I wanna throw it about, it keeps coming back for more. I'm in love
DuckTalesWooHoo1987 That's exactly how I was with my old Cooper. Even the gawping at it with a loving grin. I'm 10 x sadder with my new JCW. I just can't stop looking at it and touching it every time I walk past it.I REALLY need to get a life LOL!
Great review, man! Informative, fun and to the point. However, I would've loved if you showed more clips to listen to the exhaust and showed the rev counter on the HUD.
Well ....I have a x3m competition.....and just bought one of these as well, that is how much I enjoy driving it. So I have the luxury of both, I wanted a 911 which I drove but it's stupid expensive compared to this, and this car honestly filled my need for fun that I wanted in the 911, it's that much fun to drive, and my x3m comp, is a beast with 500hp and very high tech, but my coupe now being simple and raw with a 6 speed manual is a blast and comfortable to drive. Lots of torque even in 6 on the highway don't need to downshift to 5 or 4 surprisingly. And a used one is about 13k Canadian, tons of bang for the buck.
"Basically, if it doesn't excite you, you probably need to get checked out" You're right on, brotha! Nice review, great editing. Very enjoyable to watch! : D
I am still perplexed that they reduced the size of the fuel tank,...I wish they would go back to the 50 Liter / 13.2 Gal, or even better INCREASE the size and compete with VW on driving Range,...
That's a shame, any idea why the manual auto rev matches and the paddle shift doesn't?! Is that something BMW/MINI can add with a software update?! Cheers!
I really hate when they mess with the speedometer. That is one of the most "MINI" things about the cars and any time people look inside my car that this the thing they look at and really feel like it's something truly special. I just wish they'd not mess with it is all. I'm sure that even the ones without the old speedometers are still really fun. I fully admit to being a "purist" though.
DuckTalesWooHoo1987 I thought the same about the speedo as you, but within 10 mins of being in the new one, you forget about it. It's much more cool to have the big screen with all the cool stuff there in the middle. It actually makes far more sense for the speedo to be in your eye-line, for if you ever bother to check your speed, :) I really didn't think I'd prefer it, but the amazing thing about this car is that you can customize pretty much everything! That means that if you want the big central speedo, you can have it. You only have to go into the settings and you can have the screen as a chuffing great speedo. You can even set it as a favourite so all you have to do when you get in the car is hit the button you've chosen' ( 1 of 6 ) under the display, and there it is, a big shiny, digital speedo. So MINI haven't taken something away. They've given so much more. The whole ethos of MINI is individualism and customization, and this car gives you more than ever before.
Yeah it is cool that you can do that. My buddy looked in mine not long after I got it and literally the first thing he mentioned was how awesome the speedo is. I use the digtal speedo on the odometer to actually check my speed since it is much more precise. Can you tell me if you get less gas mileage from using sport mode? There is a noticeable difference for me. I love using it from time to time though. It honestly makes me "feel" like I am going faster because I don't feel like I have to slow down as much because of how responsive it is. Oh man I love my MINI! LOL!
No. The sport mode uses more fuel but i'm still getting more mpg than I did in my old Cooper. The pops and farts and bangs I get as well as the mpg and the OMG performance more than makes up for it though
Oh yeah. It is incredibly fun. The throttle response is phenomenal. I live in the country on a really wide and winding road and it is PERFECT for a MINI. It is Cooper country for sure.
They're brill on the country roads. I'm on the Lincolnshire coast so within 10 mins, I'm on some amazing and beautiful country roads. They make you wanna hit the corners at silly speeds though. Muchos fun.
I beg to differ. Mini 3rd generation is fucked up. It's not even small anymore. No more kart riding feel, suspension too softened like those japanese cars. I mean, going from Rxx -> Fxx, mini has lost it's DNA of being a traditional mini to being a BMW Fxx clone.2nd generation LCI Rxx, to me, were the best minis to date!
Nice review as always. Now onto the car it drives well,it's well equipped, it sounds nice, it comfy and practical, However the car IS HIDEOUS. I mean the front grill and bumper make it look like a bottom feeder however the back end is not so bad the exhaust pipes reminds me an F-type with "sports" body kit. While the paint and spoiler (On a front wheel drive car.....doesn't that make it slower) make it look a bit too boy racer and I think that will kill the sell for most people. And the damn thing doesn't even look like a mini it looks like a country men which is the worst looking car Mini Cooper ever made.
I must also be dead as I thought it was boring. 230bhp is not alot by todays standards. Well made yes, but it suffers torque steer and whilst it's playful it's also skittish when driven hard. Add to the fact to have nice toys like satnav and a good stereo and before you know it you are at 30k. Too much for any mini. I bought a 4 year old SLK 55 AMG for less money.....now that v8 makes you feel alive.
TheHocmaster It isn't that light and I just found it a pretty flat driving experience. I also tried the audi S1 and it's a totally different drive. My mate has just bought an S1 and it reinforced my view. The Mini just isn't that enjoyable, it torque steers and just isn't that playful. It's only my opinion and each to their own but I find the praise heaped on this car over the top.....
stuart christie probably because of all the driving assists... i like the supercharger in the 2006 and - better than the newer models, great true driving experience, jcw isnt a regular mini cooper.
Great review, but I'm not as enthusiastic about the interior, and the steering feel on the Cooper S I test drove was non existent. The interior looks nice, but it just stops half way down, like they got tired of designing it and gave up. The tachometer is tiny and useless, and the styling is hideous. The front looks like a mentally challenged fish, and the back looks like a cartoon reproduction of a MINI with lights that are too big. Maybe it's fun to drive, but it's not mini and it's not pretty.
just watched this video from 9 years ago. Rory hasn't changed a bit. Still doing great job now with AutoTrader. I am actually looking at getting Mini JCW as this is still a great, fun car.
Still have my MINI JCW and it won't be going ever, still love watching this review.

All-round everyday performance car with some great technology.
World class.
My new JCW arrives end of September. This will be my 4th. Simply cannot wait...........looks fantastic. Thanks for the review. spot on.

@@SgtHailWhich one did you go with 😮 ,you're 8 years older
This is one of the best channels for reviewing cars. I especially like this guy in this video. Funny, informative and simple
Just got back from work, and I wanna go back out in my JCW again after watching this xD
We got one of the first available in the UK and test drove it two weeks before any press release as we had the previous one, i got home from school one day and it was sitting on the drive and i just fell in love, id been in it a couple times before and loved it then. licenseplate Sweet! Enjoy!
Greetings from Spain!, just got this car and it´s absolutely fantastic, a bat out of hell, and I must say your review was really helpful on my decision.
Just picked up a 2011 convertible jcw, 211bhp. I thought it was quick, and then I found the sport button!
Rory
Congratulations on your move to the BBC2 well deserved.

Malc Wells Sweet! The exhaust is a good laugh, you're right. Let me know how you get on.
I certainly will mate.

Good Job Dude!, Just Bought an S Hardtop and it moves... Thanks for the review.
Great video, love the personality!! Much love
Just bought one of these. Torque steer in barely perceptible. No FWD car with 228 BHP should put its power down this well.
Great review as usual.
Jeff Wahomes salute to you, sir.
This little car is awesome. i want one now.
Great review, man! Informative, fun and to the point. However, I would've loved if you showed more clips to listen to the exhaust and showed the rev counter on the HUD.
really love your videos guys! keep it going!!
n excellent review. If I ever sell my faithful 2003 R53 Cooper S...this would be ideal to take its place.
Great video!

Great professional review . You should have your own show Sir 😊👌🏻🙏🏻
I hope they release the new convertible soon.
This or the vw golf gti performance pack?
Any Other interesting options?
well done !!! fun car..I look forward to buying a GP3!...
Excuse me, what song is being played from 5 minutes till the end....thank you and great review
great review sir, nice car too
***** Thanks Tanner87!
Im thinking of buying one woth 100.000km …Any reported problems? Is it reliable or Im gonna run to workshop all the time?
I am still perplexed that they reduced the size of the fuel tank,...I wish they would go back to the 50 Liter / 13.2 Gal, or even better INCREASE the size and compete with VW on driving Range,...
When driving the auto in 'paddle shift mode' does it still auto rev match when changing down a gear like the manual Cooper S? Thanks
Chris Tann No. Just the manual box.
That's a shame, any idea why the manual auto rev matches and the paddle shift doesn't?! Is that something BMW/MINI can add with a software update?! Cheers!

Top man/woman/person!
I miss my mini😭
All i hear is great things 😊
Nice reiview ! But i think that the Golf is better :D
Have you driven the AC Schnitzer version of this car? Look better to my eyes than this one
Brilliant
The R53 is the BEST MINI EVER, too much lighter and NERVOUS !
JCW GP (1st version) is the perfect machine and the king of minis !
Ehh, sorry, I must be dead
Jonnybarbs haha. you might feel differently if you drove it :)
I beg to differ. Mini 3rd generation is fucked up. It's not even small anymore. No more kart riding feel, suspension too softened like those japanese cars. Hmm. Now you mention it. But hey, at least it's different.
Luv it🍀😍😳😳😳😳🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍀🍀🍀🍀😍
difrentdizine & verry sexcy it is beautyfull car

Nice review, but I'd prefer the Golf R.
***** It's about £7k cheaper than a Golf R... if that helps :)
RecombuCars Sorry, I assumed it would be a narrower spread here in the U.S.
***** This car is closer to the Audi S1, which has a similar power output and 0-60 time
Why do u need to wear a helmet inside a car?
Great review, but I'm not as enthusiastic about the interior, and the steering feel on the Cooper S I test drove was non existent. get this instead of the vw gti or r more fun
GP is more powerful
They only made 2000 of them. They may as well not exist.
May aswel not exist? You having a laugh?
ericvtutube only 500 hit US soil.. lol. there is no point in trying to get one if u live here.
ericvtutube - R56 GP is 218hp and this new F56 JCW is 231hp. More powerful? Okaaaayyyy....
ericvtutube Check your facts mate. The internet is a great place to do so.
Massive rear spoiler on FWD car. So many details squeezed into a small body. Ridiculous.
Obelix Industries Nope.
