it was mainly voted no, not because we don't think they need a new stadium. it's where they want to put it. putting it downtown just don't make any sense, there's no parking, the roads can't handle the traffic, especially sense they put in these dumb bike lanes and if you got more then one event going on downtown traffic is hell. they can have there new stadium just put it where it already is, not only is there enough space. but there's more space around it that's not even being used right now! just empty land and it's right next to the main highway it's already in a perfect spot.
These are getting old and harder to keep up with, eventually they’re going to need a new stadium, and moving down does make sense considering we’re about get major upgrades to KC
Not the Chiefs going downtown it was the Royals stadium. Three suggested sites were given as options for the "new" Royals stadium. With the Royals and Chiefs sharing a complex with 2 separate stadiums, the Royals moving was needed for part of this plan. The other was the funding. I'm not sure clay county wasn't included in the proposed sales tax; the other county that is part of kansas City (I personally live in Clay County). We already pay a tax each year for the kc zoo located in Jackson County. Anyway, this rejected tax was more about the Royals stadium and the downtown location.
There has never been a plan to move the Chiefs downtown. The Royals would move downtown and I think they would be great downtown. The Chiefs wanted to just renovated Arrowhead which is also fine. But KC blew it and now they gambling with both team's future in KC.
@BGWhisperer bike lanes are dumb. They've taken away 4 way streets and made them 2 way so they can put in a stupid bike lane and then the bikers still ride in the middle of the street anyway and on some streets. Cars literally have to park in the middle of the street. Now tell me what's smart about that.
@@treylon_sprayart This is how I see it and I have been a Chiefs and Royals fan since their start in K.C., Jackson county has drawn money since day one ,the sports Authority and Jackson county has shared the parking lot money since the beginning, the folks in Jackson county have first choice on any ticket for any event, and just a reminder to folks in Jackson county, you are NOT the only people paying that sales tax ANYONE that buys anything in Jackson county helps pay it, so don't act like you are in this deal by yourself, either you want to keep the parks in your state or you don't it's up to you, because not only Kansas has makes offers ,so has other states ,wake up

No shit! Or why can't they have the players, coaches, and owners pitch in? It's not like they all can't afford it together? Or why can't they just have a fundraiser or a GoFundMe page or something?
Because they know there are other cities that will foot the bill because it brings jobs and money to the community. It's called corporate welfare many other corporations do the same thing it's not just sports. Basically corporate greed is out of control in the US.
There's no way in hell they're gonna have it ready by the 2026 World Cup unless they have crews working on it 24/7 and robots 3-D printing about half the construction. It's much too late for that.
Jackson county decline the sales tax, and Kansas approved a new stadium by using star bonds, so Chiefs are not leaving Kansas City, just switching which side of state line their on. Chiefs to KCK sorry KCMO.
@@xjudoflip7381 Like KCK is pleasant to drive through. Let's drive through three times as much run down suburbia to get clear out to village west. You make no sense.
Chiefs will never leave Kansas City. They may move across the river thats about it. I like Arrowhead but it is old and outdated. They need a new stadium and deareve a new stadium. They brought back the winning culture and SB championships. My guess is they move across the river in a brand new stadium.
Ask St. Louis about the Rams, San Diego about the Chargers, and Cleveland about the original Browns (now Baltimore Ravens) how accurate they think your statement is.
Arrowhead is amazing as it is. Why is it so imperative to add a (nearly) billion dollar upgrade? It's gonna be funny as hell when they move to Los Angeles. They can share a nice new stadium in a big market with 2 other teams. Call themselves the "Hollywood Chiefs" so they don't technically clash in the AFC with the Los Angeles Chargers lol Capitalism at it's finest.
Jackson County wanted taxpayers to fund a new stadium downtown. Not only would traffic issues be a nightmar, but parking would also be a problem if more than 1 event is going in the downtown area where they wanted to build the new stadium, but downtown also has the Sprint Center, bars, restaurants, and residents around there . I1t would not be an ideal location for visitors to the downtown area. That's why Jackson County residents voted down the tax. Where the stadium is now, it has plenty of room to expand, renovate, and the parking wouldn't be an issue.
They trying to move the team to Kansas by the Kansas Speedway and by Sporting KC stadium alongside with the Royals everyone knows who are native to KC that Missouri is such a better state than Kansas, the thing way the chiefs owners want or considering to moving to the sunflower state is base on the fact it would be a huge discount for building the two stadiums from legal betting in Kansas they have until 2030 when the lease is up.
To be clear: The Hunt family could easily kick out $800M to update their stadium. To put a tax on the citizens to pay for the stadium upgrades is the rich manipulating the middleclass to make even more money than they already do. I love the Chiefs, but the billionaire owners need to step up and make this real.
@gary-pietz4147 You mean tax people who could never afford to see a game so rich people don't have to pay for a more profitable arena to make even more. Is this Elon?
Don't you make enough money now? The tickets are already out of reach for many Chief's fans. Your response? Extortion? Threatening to take the Chiefs away. 😡
Cuz thats not how it works. Kanasa City been paying for years like this but now after SB championships have been brought back to KC no one wants to pay to upgrade a 50 year old stadium. Arrowhead is old and outdated. I hope they move across the river to show that Missouri made a big mstake in letting them move if it happens.

One of the Rich’s teams in sports. Finance your own stadium
Once you go inside, you're giving up that cold weather advantage
If you have a good team weather dont matter.
@Smile4MyAC130 that's an "if" which means not 100 percent across the board, which creates the idea of an advantage
Good teams use every advantage they have... much like successful armies.
How many dome teams have won the Super Bowl? Mister know-it-all I know the answer. Look it up. We don't want to down@@Smile4MyAC130
