  • Quick Video on How to fish live bait - fishing for Yellowtail. Theres many ways to hooking live bait, Captain Dave explains why hooking live bait at different parts of the body maximizes your chances of getting bit! For example; if you want your bait to swim away from the boat or away from the surface of the water, hook the belly. And if you want your bait to swim subsurface than hook the nose!

    Hi Capt Dave, I love your video. After 33 years in aerospace, I'm now retired and have missed out on a lot of saltwater fishing due to the travel demands of my job. So, I feel like I'm starting from scratch. So, please help me out here. You mentioned the term "On The Kite ". Please refresh my memory? Also If you don't mind, what So Cal outfit are you working out of ? Thank you and I am now subscribed.🙂

    What does your channel do for the East Cape, BCS, lighthouse -- ?

      @@YourSaltwaterGuide Wow - thank you for the fast reply.
      I watch the snippets videos Saltwater Guide once and awhile. I commend you for sharing allot of good techniques, advice and tips. Your Saltwater Guide channel talks so much bout Southern California, however, my family lives here in La Ribera, BCS, at punta arena, at the lighthouse. After searching TH-cam, I found one video posted years ago about the East Cape when you were on a yacht, but honestly it wasn’t much about fishing. You noted more to come - but I found nothing there.
      It seems you do videos every year from Cabo - but those waters are still not my fishing area. Certainly some suggestions are usable, but not enlightening about the waters I fish here at the East Cape, Sea of Cortez. I have fished some in So. California (San Diego along the kelp beds) years ago, but that has never translated into any fishing I do here at the Sea of Cortez, East Cape. So, if I purchased your channel to watch, would I find any fishing (tips) about the East Cape? The last year or two, for example, I am trying to get better at locating and catching wahoo and yellowfin tuna. Kind of a quest for me right now. I have caught both - but not where I am satisfied I know the best locations and techniques. Do you do any episodes on fishing the East Cape??? - for those species??? Or give local reports about what is going on here at the East Cape? I expect not.
      We did go out yesterday - I have a 21.8 ft. Sea Pro, 175 Suzuki catching allot of blanco bonita, one yellowtail and a 20 lb pargo, and assorted other fish (skipjack, triggerfish and whitefish). Had a great day fishing after a week of heavy winds. Best regards.

    Hi Capt Dave, do you use always use J hook for flylining for yellowtail? A deckhand told me recently you only use J hooks for YT rather than circle hooks

    • @Jakupdoesnt
      @Jakupdoesnt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only use circle Hooks size 2 for fly fishing.
