The world will stop when ONE Championship makes its long-awaited return to the Japanese capital on January 28, as some of the most iconic combat sports athletes in modern-day history converge at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena for ONE 165: Rodtang vs. Takeru.
In the headline attraction, two of the greatest pound-for-pound strikers on the planet will compete in an epic kickboxing super-fight for the ages.
Longtime ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon has become the biggest name in the sport, captivating fans with his in-ring theatrics, iron chin, and hard-hitting style.
But after a year of trading barbs on social media, the Thai megastar will face heated rival and three-division K-1 World Champion Takeru Segawa, who will make his highly anticipated promotional debut on home soil.

Takeru has advantage since its a kickboxing fight, but lets be honest... if there is one who can adapt in any circumstances this is Rodtang the Ironman 💀

I believe Rodtang will defeat Takeru because there have been multiple occasions where Rodtang had to face opponents larger than him, such as Jonathan Haggaty and Superlek (currently Muay Thai and Kickboxing bantamweight champion in One Championship). However, Rodtang has still managed to emerge victorious. This illustrates that Rodtang's experience is highly significant, encompassing both domestic and international competition, as well as various rule sets. This is in contrast to Takeru, who has primarily competed in his home country and under a single rule set.
Very good arguement! I think the fact it's in Takerus country and rule set may make a difference 🤔 but I can see rodtang being able to ware Takeru down if he's on his A game and doesn't get caught with something! Thanks for commenting!!!
fair point, i only believe rodtang beat haggerty because he was fighting a weight class lower so he was slightly compromised in both fights, i believe takeru is more durable than haggerty and will be able to stand with rodtang cause of the kickboxing rule set, if this was muay thai then rodtang would probably eat takeru alive
And rodtang also lost to Tenshin twice and superlek. They are only fighting under one rule set I don’t think rodtangs experience with various rule set matters at all, they are only fighting under one rule set

takeru used to be really small in 2013-2017 compared to opponenents and still knocked them out in crazy fashion.
I didn't even know they were fighting, I'm a big Rodtang fan but this is a real challenge for him, he needs to make sure he's training hard, apparently he doesn't train as much these days according to rumours going around in Thailand, I can't wait to see Rodtang challenged hard, it's going to be a belter for sure.
Takeru is not sb you can make fun of and it will be in kick boxing rule.

Well that didn't sound one sided😂 presume you are going on the assumption that Rodtang doesn't watch footage of fighters he is due to fight and can't adapt. Only thing I will agree with,is that fights in Japan usually give the decision to the home fighter as we have all seen too many times. Still would never under estimate Rodtang if he brings his A game IMO

its a fire vs fire fight and as am aware i think they are using the 5oz gloves for this bout. So they have taken a certain advantage from them. I.e Rodtang can't throw elbows, clinch and sweeps. Takeru has never fought with 5oz gloves hence why his hands are not as conditioned as Rodtang's
I think it depends on the ruleset, 60/40 leaning towards takeru although I doubt it’ll be a knock out finish
We should go back to old- school kickboxing (elbows, knees, judo throws). I don't like this watering down of the rules, there's really no need for it.
There are so may variations of kickboxing now! I'm sure Enfusion allow for 5 seconds of clinch with judo throws
@@prostriking That's a valid point but I would suggest that the elite of the sport should be expected fight with the rules I outlined above, not least because it would be a firm demarcation of who exactly the elite are. In summary: easy rule set for lower tier fighters, harder ruleset for higher tier fighters. Making two rulesets for the elite just seems pointless. I'm happy to have my view challenged.

rodtang do 5 round with tenshin , who is better than takeru( they faced each other and tenshin win) , i think i will have no problem to beat takeru
Hmm I think if Takeru had more rounds with Tenshin it would have been more interesting as those 3 rounds went too quick! But that fight with rodtang and tenshin is definitely a strong case. Can't wait for the fight!
@@prostriking nah bro, tenshin won almost every round and rightfully so, he outstruck rodtang by an insane amount. he also only beat takeru by points bcos he stuck to the outside and outboxed him and would have been knocked out if he fought inside, but rodtang wont have the same gameplan. takeru also fought tenshin with multiple injuries. tenshin was great but takeru was far from his best. this time, takeru has been doing training camps in the US and Thailand for a few months now and rodtang only starts training 2 weeks bfor the fight. takeru has been training harder. he gets this fight, either by KO (if anyone to do it, its gon be takeru) or by UD.
@@saileshnaidu8102You know that in 5th round it was draw to continue in extra round. I think Tenshin win but the fight is closer than anyone think. Rodtang also has a problem to adapt in the kickboxing ruleset because it was his DEBUT. In addition, many Thais who is familiar in Muay Thai scoring say that Rodtang clearly won because Tenshin lost his balance many times during 4th-5th round and that knee to body in 4th round should be KD.

You might not know Takeru. I know both him and Rodtang... And the chance to win for Rodtang is probably only 30-40%. Takeru is really different, something else. He is like Rodtang, a tank but maybe more a light tank, slightly weaker chin, but faster, more well rounded and packs stronger punch/kicks. Since Rodtang has been losing lately, I think something is off with him, and will have a higher chance of losing again.
