When you say it is easy, do you mean 'just recognising the consciousness and the ability to stay in the being ' is enlightenment ? Or is it the ability to stay connected to the being forever is enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a state of oneness, where consciousness rests in space. This state reveals itself in stillness, without thoughts. While it is most commonly temporary, it exists on a sliding scale.
The mind though, it's very hynotic, it's like a never ending narrator, you centre yourself be still and find that inner peace, then it starts again, yes it's illusionary yes thoughts are temporal and come and go, but it's very much an entity which is constantly changing it's shape and looking for anyway for your attention. It's very simple yes but the mind is the wall between that, only God has any power over it, the realisation must come from Grace and slowly through the process of the Divine unfoldment it looses any grip over your attention, the idea of a personal level of control over this process doesn't work, the mind just reminds you as it's always with you constant producing a new thought, all we can do is hand it to God.
I dunno everyone is completly different, some people live there life in that place, completly in a state of Love (All they know), others dragged around live there life enslaved by the mind they'd think you were nuts for pointing it out (All they know), some have to have a direct intervention. (Grateful to be saved)
