I'm almost 56, and I play games. Started off with an Atari 2600 and moved on since. These days, I mostly play on my Switch. While I prefer single player games, it's mostly because my reflexes aren't what they used to be. I can't do twitchy games like Sonic very well, I can do games like Tears of the Kingdom pretty well by using my head and planning moves carefully. Also, Animal Crossing was huge for me for a couple years during the Dreamtime that was COVID. Looking forward to Switch 2. Cheers, Wulff bros! Love the podcast and listen often.
As someone who is only 15 years old it's always cool seeing older people still playing video games I can only hope to be as cool as you in my 50s
@@dapper_1313 Thank you! I'm sure you'll be a very cool and kind person, with a start like this. Cheers!
That’s awesome! 🎉
Happy to hear that for you. I started with an Atari 7800 until now so far, also can't wait for the switch 2 and to see gaming evolve to what it is now is amazing and the excitement to play and experience is amazing, no matter the age.
@@rocknaaronshow3691 Thank you! I'm excited about the next Switch as well.
I'm 34 and sometimes I get the itch to play multiplayer and then I'm like "yeah this is why I don't play these anymore" then just switch to some other game instead that's more relaxating.
I'm 39, typically I don't play online but during COVID I did play COD with my mates that were basically casuals. Splatoon has got its hooks in me big time, too. Love that game. But typically I avoid all other online games. But I do get "itch" too. That Amazon game "new world" calls out to me occasionally 😅
Splatoon is another modern example of a multiplayer game with good single player.
Talking about multiplayer, what stats would interest me more is how many are interested in local multiplayer. Only Nintendo really seems to offer that now (at least I can only think of them) with Mario Party, Mario Kart, Super Smash etc. Do you think that's an older generation thing or do you think they still do it for the kids?
Well, I suppose not 'fortnite kids', but maybe for pre-teen siblings or some kind of birthday parties / sleepovers local multiplayer sounds awesome imo
Thank you for doing the podcast Wulff Bros :)
I’ve been thinking about this whole ‘owning’ digital games vs. physical copies thing, and honestly, it feels like a raw deal. When I buy a digital game, I’m basically just leasing it rather than owning it, and yet I’m paying full price. California’s new law is a step in the right direction by forcing stores to admit they’re selling licenses, not actual ownership. But it still doesn’t sit right with me.
Even with physical games, it’s not like we really own the content-we just own the disc. Companies can still shut down servers, revoke access, or limit features that rely on updates. It’s crazy that we’re paying the same amount for something we can lose access to at any time. If digital games are essentially just temporary licenses, they should cost less than physical copies. Anyone else feel the same way?
i only play single player games, or games like Borderlands and (old) call of duty zombies which can easily be played solo. Other people ruin games, toxic or not.
21:25 Space Marine 2 does PvE and PvP incredibly well. It's still new, lots of new content for them to add, but you can see how balanced the PvP is, and the PvE operations and Campaign are quite good!
Im older. I love single player games and couch coop. Gimme more games I can play with my friends in my living room
To clarify the comment bob read from this show; I meant PlayStation plus premium. It was there, but then they took it off.
Astro bot not a goty contender?! Blasphemy!
It's definitely my game of the year.
Bob couldn't think of a piece of non-tech to bring in? It's obvious - Zim!
Halo Infinite is real good, the multiplayer was rocky at first but is pretty solid now
Will: “tHeReS aLwAYs tHoSE PeOPLe tHaT sAy ZeLdA.”
Me, An Intellectual: ZELDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1:09:32 if only you could emulate the switch and play a game that way with steamdeck
Then you could just buy that physical and use your backup
Bob, have you ever played inscryption? I’ve never played balatro but it is also essential a rogue like card game. I played it this year for the first time and it was amazing. 100% recommend it.
For Star Wars Outlaws, the voice actor and the person who helped motion capture is really good looking, they then made her ugly in the game which makes no sense. That being said, I would buy Star Wars Outlaws for like $20 in a couple years
Xbox starting screen is smth that's now known as dark frutiger aero, so pretty much what u said
For me sort of cure for boring normalised controls was Steam Controller with Steam Input. Creating whacky configs was kinda fun and adds a little bit of spice and freshness.
For similar reason i play Nioh on m&k. I was a nice curve that ended up in the feeling of flow that controller just couldn't match. And it was unique to this game
Will have you been watching The Penguin? If so what are your thoughts on it?
I only just heard about Balatro from this podcast, and now my life is ruined. Thanks Wulff bros.
Bob, your Italian Microsoft impersonation was spot on!
Astro Bot or SH2R are my GOTY picks
I say F the polls, no matter the age(i am 44), play games and enjiy them. Same as watching shows, movies music, etc, it is something i can do, playing sungle player or family fun games with my wife and kids and it is part of my life since i was 6 (Atari 7800) and it is amazing to see the growth of it through the decades until now and further. Play whatever game that makes you happy.
guess i'm a freak then, bc i love couch multiplayer games.
Do you think we’ll see a Switch 2 Lite?
The real annoying thing about this required PSN network though, and any required account stuff, they don't need me to have one when it's single player. The explanation was to make it EASIER to ban people on their end for Helldivers but you don't need me in
It just feels like I'm paying for data collection on the side and if it's not that then what else? Why are we even bothering at all?
Will out here giving stinkpalms 😂
This whole podcast just made me realize that my brain will never get why people dislike horizon. I hear people share there opinions on it and I am convinced I played a different game cause to me it does every element the best in gaming history and is my two fav games ever made.
That’s how I feel about starfield it’s just different opinions
@@duvalouteast starfield doesn’t have a lot of flaws to me but it has a few huge ones 7/10 game
Weird to see these guys trash "anti-woke" people but most of the games that they say are "woke" are failing. People don't have a problem with women or races in gaming, the new zelda is doing amazing compared to other zelda games and Zelda is finally the main character but you don't hear anyone complaining.
Ahh Balatro, legal crack
Jokes on Sony I for horizon zero dawn steam key for $4 so the upgrade is still way less than the original price. Take that big corpo!
Kind of shocked that the guys were laughing about older people playing video games. From the look of the hosts they don't look that much younger than 55. They've got to be fourties right? Like heavily lined pale faces with receding hairlines That's like got to be 40 ish. M40 is a half a heartbeat away from being 55. Do they think that they're going to stop gaming when they hit 50 or 55? So odd. Guys you're not young. And yeah people with gray hair can like video games just like people who were just born can like video games.
Guy on the left is 40 and the other skinny guy on the right is 34. I agree with you they both don’t really look great for their age. They should go outside and get some sunlight
I’m 47.
I always appreciate when others express themselves.
What shocks me is understanding from others. So, good job you.
You know Will has gray hair, 2 kids and calls himself old right? They weren’t making fun of old gamers, just mentioning there’s not many of them.
Your comment reads like a self conscious “old” person.
Hi👋🤚🖐✋️👋🤚👋✋️👋
Astro bot is overrated, yes it’s great, but almost every 3d mario game is better than astrobot with the exception of sunshine, and that’s the game from which it borrows the most.
Nahh its up there with them
I would argue it borrows from Galaxy the most, but you're one of the few who thinks it is overrated. People have tried to copy Mario games before and failed, but Astro succeeded, uses the technology of the PS5 extremely well, and has the callbacks to other Playstation properties. Oh and I would say it is better than Odyssey, but that's me.
