I've been trying to find it for decades, asked speech therapists, singing teachers, searched the www.. And then I stumbled over your video and within the length of it, I felt it. Finally I know what to train, thank you so much!
Thank you. You are awesome. Thank you for not telling me that if I "sing with my diaphragm " and "have proper breath support" my "vibrato will come naturally" (breath support might be related, but its not magic). You're the man!
Oh my gosh yes I feel that. Honestly call me stupid or whatever but how da fudge are you suppose to "take control of your diaphragm". This video has helped tremendously THANK YOU TO THE DUDE WHO MADE IT
Yep! Not to put it too rudely, but most voice teachers shouldn't be allowed to address the vibrato at all. They only cause problems or make students feel stupid!
These are GREAT! I've already got a feel for vibrato, but these exercises definitely help me understand a bit better of what i am trying to accomplish. Thanks for posting :)
You are correct. Remember that these are only temporary exercises meant to "kick-start" the vibrato, they aren't actually finished vibrato sounds, so keep the volume and range pretty simple when doing these. Thanks for the comment.
this man is so right, i slowed down my vibrato (never had voice training) and it sounds exactly like those 3 excercises can do for you, not the back and forth business i'm hearing that you should do between 2 different notes,
Thanks for putting that out there! I know that a lot of folks don't like to hear all of my talking, but it is critical that the exercises are done exactly as prescribed. That being said, I certainly understand that no one needs to hear them for the one hundredth time! Thanks again...
Hi, guys. I'm sorry I haven't been responsive to your questions. I've been working on a large training project which will likely take me several more months. I promise to answer your questions and post more videos after the project is finished.
Thank you so much Eric! I have been trying to understand and learn vibrato from many many youtube videos. None has help me. Your video is a tremendous help. I am able to sing with vibrato as soon as I finish watch your video. Thank you!

Hey, you replied to my comment about a week ago. I've been singing everyday, trying to keep my vibrato controlled (because before i had an uncontrolled vibrato) and this worked for me! :D
Sarcasm noted, and appreciated! Haha! Yes, and I've been gone again for far too long. I'm going to get a lot more material out very soon. Thanks for your encouragement and hope to talk again soon!
I been through a bunch of videos that explained exercises and such. I still could never get the vibrato. Funny enough, it wasn't the video itself, but the description comparing vibrato to an air-hose underwater, that finally got that *click* that allowed me to figure out how to do it.
Thanks, Jennifer! I love it when singers can get their vibratos working when they'd just about given up on it! So many teachers just make students feel bad by saying "it'll come" or "singing freely and it will happen". Well, that's not always true. Sometimes nature needs a little push!
I will be trying these. Thanks. I have a small amount of what I think is natural vibrato in my voice, just can't control the speed that it comes out, and for my tastes it's a tad too slow.
I have the cd. It is good, but it requires work if you want to improve your vibrato. I am still working to find mine because I naturally have a fast vibrato. So for me, learning to slow it down and control is my goal.
@MowLiao I know my reply is a little bit late, but here's something you can try. Start out with an extremely slow vibrato. Singing it on a note like "Ah," it might sound/feel like "Haaa...haaa...haaa." You should feel a sort of flipping somewhere in the back of your throat. Doing this extremely slowly will get the general feel and control of how it's done, and then work on doing it faster. If this doesn't work, try slowly varying the note by half steps, then faster. This works for some.
@rafanavega (You have miss-read my post. Please read through thoroughly before commenting.) Vibrato is the oscillation between pitches, sing your scales and practice on switching pitches faster and faster until you begin to feel how to do it. Don't expect to do it perfectly over night, you need to practice. Encode it into your muscle memory will make it feel natural or effortless. You are the one controlling your voice, it is called proper technique.
Thanks, Jeugenline! I'd love to get the chance to work with your voice! I do Skype lessons with people around the world. Contact me at www.SingWithPower.com, or take a look at all of my training courses at www.BestSingingProgram.com
@rector559 with proper training and breath support it just occurs naturally... I had been singing since the age of 4 and didn't develop a vibrato til I was 15. I attended a summer voice camp after my freshman year of hs and by utilizing my voice properly, it just started happening and as you continue your progress as a musician you learn to use it better...
Mr.Eric I was looking about 10 min ago about what does mean Vibrato! And I was saying there is noway to vibrate my sound, then I found your fantastic video. I decided to watch it and do the exercises in 5 min...now I can do Vibrato like I know how to do it for long time and auto...it's really worked thank you so much! I have a question if you don't mind... how can I know if I do a 7 per second? fan from Arabs
trem·o·lo (trm-l) n. pl. trem·o·los 1. a. A tremulous effect produced by rapid repetition of a single tone. b. A similar effect produced by rapid alternation of two tones. 2. A device on an organ for producing a tremulous effect. 3. A vibrato in singing, often excessive or poorly controlled.
Good questions. A finished vibrato is not done by adjusting the speed of breathing, nor is it simple pitch adjusting or pitch fluctuation, although I may use those methods to help a singer "kick-start" vibrato if they can't seem to find it any other way. I've included an article I wrote in the description of this video. It directly answers your question. The article is titled "What is vibrato? Is vibrato “natural” (happens by itself), or is it consciously “caused” somehow by the singer?"
All that this man is showing is working!!! YOU CAN Develop your vibrato!!! Listen masterclass of maestro Galouzine, the part about vibrato. You are should trust the guy who has great international career.
If you aren't singing with vibratto, you are probably tense. It takes time to fully open and relax. Vibratto comes naturally when everything is in place. Just work on your technique and let your tension go to gain vibratto. It isn't manufactured from the stomach, it is a natural variation of pitch from your vocal chords when you sing freely.
I can do vibrato but it has problems...a singer told me I need to learn to "tighten it up". It is often not consistent sounding I think. Also, I LOVE Josh Groban's music and he is the master of Vibrato. When I sing the song "Thankful", I can do almost all the song perfectly except the loud, long vibrato part, the word "light" near the end. My vib is very uneven & forced - sounds bad...it's driving me crazy! Sometimes it is ok though, but not perfect. Why do you think this happens?
@StormWHM I have not misread your post; I believe it was you that didn't understand what I said. You stated: "Using yout throat makes it tighten up and then it starts to hurt and fatigue you." You state that *using the throat* is malicious - fallacy. Doesn't matter the intention behind it. Using the throat 'does not necessarily bring those conditions you previously stated'. Only it's bad usage.
You would be right, if the exercises to "kick off" vibrato were an end in themselves. The exercises are designed for those who've tried to find vibrato, but can't seem to on their own. More importantly, the exercises are designed to be very temporary, only until the natural feeling of vibrato takes over. They temporarily create very, very little extra tension in the cords/diaphragm, just as most new exercises until the singer adapts to the direction the exercise leads.
Great question! You're essentially asking: Is vibrato natural (happens by itself), or is it consciously caused somehow by the singer? I've written a mini-article for you in the info section of this video posting, and you can see the full answer at my singwithpower.wordpress. com blog.

Hi are these exercises all designed to center minute movements in the vocal chords? they seem helpful to tighten up the vibrato even if you already have one.
umm hello good day. I was wondering if by practicing this ill be able to get a nice vibrato. Im stil having a hard time to produce vibrato in my voice as a soprano singer. Any more Tips ill gladly accept it. Thank you!
Thanks for the video!! I take singing lessons, but my teacher won't teach me how to do vibrato, because she says it'll happen on it's own. I'm 16, will I eventually do it naturally, without exercises? (I'll practice yours for sure though)
Hey sir i would like to ask a question. i got really good vibrato but Im looking for ways to do unique vibrato like alot of black girls in there voices got those very distinct voices and theirs voices shift different pitches and they can control it and i think its vibrato any tips for that?
I'm soooo late answering this question, but yes, you can do what you're talking about. I will create a video to answer and demonstrate. Thanks for the question!
Your teacher may or may not be right. Let me answer it this way: Ultimately vibrato feels natural, just like hula-hooping feels natural and easy with little effort AFTER someone figures it out. Some people find it easy, others have to really experiment allot. I've written a full article on the subject. It's called "What is vibrato? Is vibrato “natural” (happens by itself), or is it consciously “caused” somehow by the singer?" The link is contained in the video description section.
Hi Eric, I just bought your vibrato program, and I started doing the exercises yesterday. I already have a vibrato that I discovered 2 weeks ago but my vibrato is uneven. I would like to ask a few things because I'm a little confused with some of your exercises, my vibrato is 5 pulses per second, so do I need to just follow the 5 pulses exercises only or do the faster pulse exercises as well? and also, I can sing with vibrato in descending tone but my vibrato doesn't come out if I sing in steady tone or ascending tone. Thus, I'm wondering if this will improve over time through constant vibrato vocal practices or am I doing something wrong? Looking forward to your reply.
Wow! I'm so sorry to be so late in my reply! If the vibrato is uneven, then you might be moving ahead to quickly in the exercises. Never go to the next speed until your pulse is very consistent at the speed you are at. Your question about vibrato in the lower notes is a good one and I"ll address that in another video soon. Thanks again for your questions!
You helped me alot! I could sing in the right notes, but I didn't have a charasteristic voice. I mean, my friends had strong voices, REALLY REALLY high voices but I didn't have THAT perfect voice. When we were singing in our conservatory, I always sang in bass and I was in vochals-we were singing INCREDIBLE with all of those different sounds- and with this video, I discovered that I have a REALLY REALLY bass voice. I am a girl but my voice is like I boy... I can sing Opera-man voice- and some people are afraid of me LOL Do you know why is my voice like this?? (SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH I'M ONLY 12!)
Okay, so I've been reading different things. If I'm correctly using vibrato, will my "Adam's apple" move while my voice is pulsing? The movement very subtle, but it's there. In other words, is vibrato more mechanical (consciously adjusting the pitches in my voice by adjusting my vocal cords), or is it more reactive (learning how the air flows on my larynx, and manipulating that to create the vibrato effect)? I hope my question makes sense.
You should only work with the one or two exercise types that come very easily, and even then you should do it quietly, in your spoken pitch area, and for only a few minutes a day. That should help.
Don't be too concerned with range when working on developing vibrato. Find a very comfortable, easy feeling vocal range to sing in until the vibrato comes. After that, you can begin to try using vibrato in more expanded ranges.
I purchased your vibrato cd's a few months ago and have a vibrato but can't really sustain it. I sing a song and go for the vibrato and sometimes I get and other times I don't. should I my practice increase? and if so, for how many hrs? I'm just lost and need a little guidance...thank you
There's no need to practice vibrato exercises for a long time each day. For those who don't have a consistent vibrato yet, I usually recommend only a few minutes a day of vibrato exercises. Rushing it will only cause problems. The the exercises do their job and it'll come.
I am wondering also, are you teaching a vibrato that you pulsate with from your diaphram? I have been really confused with myself how to sing with vibrato and am not sure if doing correctly. I know that I sometimes sing with a vibrato from my throat and it is really hard to not do that. Then I sing with one that seems to come from my diaphragm. Please help- I guess telling me how it feels when singing correctly might make more sense to me. (do u feel any movement in stomach?)
I REALLY need your help, I have been trying to change my vibrato for like a year and i can´t find out what is going ond with my voice I have a vibrato that sounds just like Enrique Bunbury, and i hate it. I don´t want it. I want to have a normal vibrato. Why this is happening? Is that my vibrato and i can´t change it? or am I doning somethinng wrong?
Hi, Edgar. I'm so sorry to be answering this so late! Without hearing you, I can't give you specific advice, but I really would recommend your listening to my full vibrato program. It's only a few bucks if you subscribe and that includes all of the training I've ever recorded. Let me know if I can help you more specifically with your vibrato. www.BestSingingProgram.com
Just a quick question.. If you wanted to sing like , Lets say, Katy Perry, Or Adele. Is it possible if you could be able to have that belting voice without hurting anything. When I do that, I mean it feels like I got it all down, But then again. I'm not so sure... (Not sure if it made sense.)
I've been trying to find it for decades, asked speech therapists, singing teachers, searched the www.. And then I stumbled over your video and within the length of it, I felt it. Finally I know what to train, thank you so much!
Excellent! If you want to dig into it deeper, you can get into it with the full training at www.BestSingingProgram.com. Thanks for tuning in!

How often should you do these exercises?
Thank you Eric you are a very big help! (:
Is it okay if my belly is moving while doing this?
Just a few minutes a day. Maybe 3 or 4 minutes is fine.
During the initial process that may, happen, but that will go away almost entirely as it locks in.
you're the man, you know how to explain
Thanks, Kevin!!
Thank you so much Eric! I have been trying to understand and learn vibrato from many many youtube videos. None has help me. Your video is a tremendous help. I am able to sing with vibrato as soon as I finish watch your video. Thank you!
Wow!! That's go great! Thanks for letting me know!
my ordered cd just came in today. I will report back with positive results soon. I am excited to improve my vibrato.
Sounds like I've been well on practicing, based on your exercises. I find them fun, simple and useful, so many thanks from this boy! :D

wow thanks !! i do these with my vocal excersises cuz i needed sumthn to kick off the vibrato n these worked perfectly thanks!

Great exercises Eric, thanks so much. God bless you!
You're very welcome!
Great simple basic step, thank you for your time to make such video.
Thank you for the help and breaking it down. the vibrato is coming simple now, with time and practice i should be able to speed it up

1/2 hour practicing what I saw on your video and I got it!!!
Extremely helpful video! Cheers from Costa Rica!
Thanks! Glad you made the trip! Haha!
Best Vibrato Video so far
I'm very glad it helped you!
Absolutely. In fact, the 2nd CD in the program uses some exercise variations on what you are describing.
Great instruction, Eric! You are a gifted (and practiced) teacher. Thank you.
Just coming back 3 years later apparently!?!?! To say Thank you, most helpful video!!
Sarcasm noted, and appreciated! Haha! Yes, and I've been gone again for far too long. I'm going to get a lot more material out very soon. Thanks for your encouragement and hope to talk again soon!
One of my favourite voice teacher
Great tools! I'm definitely using these with my students.
I feel lucky to have watched this video first. I might be able to develop a vibrato within the next two months.
I hope a lot sooner! Just a little a day is all you should do. Don't rush it.
I been through a bunch of videos that explained exercises and such.
I still could never get the vibrato.
Funny enough, it wasn't the video itself, but the description comparing vibrato to an air-hose underwater, that finally got that *click* that allowed me to figure out how to do it.
This is just the most perfect video
Thanks, Jennifer! I love it when singers can get their vibratos working when they'd just about given up on it! So many teachers just make students feel bad by saying "it'll come" or "singing freely and it will happen". Well, that's not always true. Sometimes nature needs a little push!

Never go to the next speed until your pulse is very consistent at the speed you are at. Your question about vibrato in the lower notes is a good one and I"ll address that in another video soon. Thanks again for your questions!
Thank You!!
You're very welcome!!
I love it!!! Thanks so much for checking in and letting me know how you're doing. How is your voice now?
What is the estimated weeks for one to develop their vibrato if practicing one of the methods everyday?
After that, you can begin to try using vibrato in more expanded ranges.
would these exercises work for country music
Absolutely!! The warm-up can be almost identical for ANY style of music.
I purchased your vibrato cd's a few months ago and have a vibrato but can't really sustain it. I sing a song and go for the vibrato and sometimes I get and other times I don't. should I my practice increase? and if so, for how many hrs? I'm just lost and need a little guidance...thank you
Thank you so much
Is there any recomended daily practice time for these exercises? thank you
There's no need to practice vibrato exercises for a long time each day. For those who don't have a consistent vibrato yet, I usually recommend only a few minutes a day of vibrato exercises. Rushing it will only cause problems. The the exercises do their job and it'll come.
Ty very much
You ROCK!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this Great tips!
Btw.. is it just me?.. or he looks like Robert de Niro?
More like "Michael" in The Office! Steve Carell
I REALLY need your help, I have been trying to change my vibrato for like a year and i can´t find out what is going ond with my voice
I have a vibrato that sounds just like Enrique Bunbury, and i hate it.
