Maybe one day you could do a video on Laserdiscs, like how is the picture quality, if there is a menu, how the player works, etc, for people like me who knows nothing about it.
Good for you, Kyle! One has to love those Laserdics artworks! It's like vinyl vs CD: technology goes forward but it always misses something. The 80s and 90s era was such and amazing time to live in that sense.
@@benbanks6302 Probably about 8 years ago or so… I first got into them when I was learning about old formats and I just thought they were cool! I collect them now because I like the art work and in my opinion the quality isnt really that bad! all in all I think its just a fun/ weird format that is cool to collect!
@@kylesmoviecollection I agree I see laserdiscs now more than 20 years ago when I began collecting them I wish I would have kept one of my players they go for a lot now a days at least I still have some movies anyway good luck on your collecting
How are you viewing your Laserdisc? I understand this doesn’t exactly work on a later model television I’ve seen some individuals purchase expensive converter type boxes. I’ve always loved the packaging of Laserdiscs
So I have a laserdisc player that has the red, white, and yellow plugs on the back any tv has those plugs. But also amazon sell A/V to HDMI converters for less then $20!
Love your collection Kyle .....Can you recall the first ever laserdisc you purchased ? I haven't watched all your videos yet so sorry if you have mentioned it .....Also is there a laserdisc your trying to track down which you really would like to own ?
The first one I bought was Hunt For Red October, it was $8. And im always trying to add to my criterion collection laserdisc so anything that has the Criterion logo on it or any Horror and older stuff/ more silent films!
@@SHANECatLovinActivistHistorian Really depends on the title, I personally wouldn’t pay more than $15-$20 for something I really want. But there has been times I spent more on something special!
I’m 100% gonna get pumpkin head but was curious should I go out and get the other 3 is it a good franchise to get into I just want your thoughts on the first and the others if you seen it no spoilers lol
@@kylesmoviecollection ah ok all good I noticed since starting my collection 2 years ago Halloween 4 5 6 are super hard to find idk why like 25 dollars an up I got 5 for 13 bucks was beyond lucky and my gf got me Halloween 4 and I got 6 from the USA Halloween 4 is my favourite in the franchise even more then 1
Here is a million dollar question for you. Why would you collect a dead format like laser disk ? And don't get me wrong laser disk was so awesome and cool back in the late 80's & 90's. When laser disk had some of the coolest movies releases on the format. But the laser disk players & laser disk movies are no longer being made now. So the question is why in 2024 would someone buy a dead format like laser disk ? And don't get me wrong I almost got into collecting laser disk back in around 1995 or 1996. But in 1997 DVD came out on the market and took off and took over physical media. And that was start of the down fall of laser disk format. But like I said laser disk format had more films being released on it then any other format to this day. And now in 2024 there are movies that only still only available on laser disk or VHS but still no DVD or bluray release to this day. And I had a friend that did collect laser disk & he had some cool movies on laser disk. And from 1991 until 1998 and he sold them all off to get into collecting dvds. And in the last two years I thought about starting collecting laser disk. Bc there is still movies that I want that still don't have a DVD or even a bluray release still to this day. But are available on laser disk and the only reason I have not started collecting laser disk is the players are not being made anymore & how would anyone get a working or get one fixed. Bc all the manufacturer companies don't make them or fix them. But your videos are cool bc they show the younger generation what they missed and how cool physical media was back in the 80's & 90's
so I definitely understand where your coming from, I think personally I just enjoy the artwork and the look of them. I thankfully have a working player but if it broke someday I can always find another one on ebay. I personally just enjoy collecting physical media and learning the history of home releases. Id say 20 years ago people would probably say the same thing about vinyl when cds existed. not saying laserdisc will come back like vinyl did. I also collect vhs (horror specifically) and those kind of came back. I think it all comes down to personal preference on what you want to collect if that all makes sense… thank you for the comment!
@@kylesmoviecollection like I said it is cool to see people that have a passion for physical media. And I will say this laser disk does have some of the best artwork on there packaging. And FYI how would someone hook up a laser disk player to the new tvs out today ? Bc the tvs 📺 are out now don't have the same kinda of hook ups. That the tvs had back in the 90's. Like my TV I have is a Samsung 4k 55 inch QLED and my TV don't have the hook ups that the older tvs had back in the 90's
@@tomboling2309 I have my player hooked up to a Samsung 55in 4k tv but I also have a 32in tube tv for vhs. They sell lots of different types of converters for just about anything!

I get a ton of duplicates but random lots always produce titles like these that make the lot worth buying and offloading unwanted.
dont know of criterian tittles but dracula stands out to me rest may me old hollywood or western film dont think friday 13 laserdisc would be in there
