    People around the world watching this may not realise that this lake is usually dry and empty throughout the year. It's farmland to multiple different owners, there are fences seperating the different land titles... in that lake.

      yes I have spoken to many locals and they have told me that, also been windsurfing races here in the big lake and lots of fishing many years ago.

    What an insane circumstances ! Windsurfer since 1976 and my favourite discipline is planing as soon as possible by low wind on flat water. Formula windsurfing, Raceboard en big slalom boards. But I never surfed on a " mirror" Too cool this vid! 🤟

    Looks like a dream! I've kitesurfed in similar conditions in a tiny lake in the netherlands, weeds grew up to the surface so I've been out with 20-25 knots and glassy water. Amazing feeling.

      Which lake ?

    • @artyfly100
      @artyfly100 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zonzeven it's a tiny enclosed part of the IJsselmeer, just north of Lelystad. I believe its called Strand Houtribhoek. After a few times kiting there some forest guard came to tell us it was illegal to kite there (we already knew deep down, but when it's windy there's nobody, so probably someone snitched). The spot itself is quite sketchy, lots of trees and wooden poles coming out of the water, also not a lot of room for crashing safely, so not ideal for practicing tricks.

    Had the same thing happen to me maybe 18 years ago in Lake Volvi, Greece.
    Wind was about 15knots as well, and for an hour it was glassy and calm; after that it turned into a normal lake day with chop.
    Sadly, just one picture back then (and pretty low res at that :D ) but the feeling is definitely unforgettable !

    • @TKM11370

      has to be some sort of temperature affect. We have it very occasionally on a sea breeze. I kitesurf and sometimes we get a breeze a few meters off the water. The water is flat a pancake yet where the kite is, we are super powered up.
