  • My review on the Champion 2500 watt dual fuel generator. I show how we use this generator to boost our solar/battery electrical system on those days when we need to run A/C all day long and our solar can not keep up. This is my second TH-cam video ever and it still feels awkward to talk to camera. I think of lots of things I wish I would of said after the fact so if you have any questions please feel free to reach out through the comments or you can find all my contact info on our website listed below.

    THANK YOU ALL!!!!

    Where you camping Memorial weekend 2022 by Hillman, Michigan at a state forest campground.?

      No we were in Montana that weekend and we don't go to campgrounds because of solar system we prefer to boondock. If you seen this camper in the video then that would be our cousin who we sold the camper to and he decided to leave on the logo. We are now full time RVers in a fifth wheel with a new logo design. ☺️

    Hi Derek - great video! I've got a Victron Multiplus 2 and the same Champion dual-fuel generator as you; I just wish mine would have the seamless switchover when I turn my air conditioning on as yours does. I have my Input Current Limit set to 12 when I hook the generator up; what is your BoostFactor set to? Do you have Dynamic Current Limiter "ON"? Do you have UPS "ON"? Do you have Weak AC "ON"? Thanks in advance for any assistance you might offer!

    • @ccrvsolar
      @ccrvsolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the delay response. Depends on the generator but with a single 3000 Watt Inverter dynamic current limiter off, UPS off, power boost is set to default. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps.

    Hi there! We are waiting for our Outdoors RV to be delivered within a week or two. It is only a 22FQS, so the size is limited. We will almost exclusively boondock for the next 5 years, here in Colorado and the immediate surrounding states. These will mostly be 1 week, but sometimes up to 2 week trips. We have space on the roof for 4 200w panels, and maybe could squeeze 1 or 2 100w panels in there too. I was planning for 4 100ah batteries. But, the current Battleborn sale is basically 5 for the price of 4. And, would want the 3000w inverter.
    So, you are the first to kind of answer the question….,is it a feasible solution to use a smaller 2500w generator to potentially charge our batteries while the ac and such are running off of the inverter? It looks like the battery draw would be a deficit, overall. But, you could really extend the time that you could power your ac that way.
    Safe travels
    PS. Are staying in TX as a fixed location for your solar installs? What part of TX are you in?

    • @ccrvsolar
      @ccrvsolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats exciting - I hope your new rig has been delivered!
      About our location - our home base in Northern Michigan which is where we are located right now but will be closing on our house December 1st and will be full time RVers. We will then be traveling the states doing solar installs and tech work. We do spend a decent amount of time in Athens, TX but over the next 5 months have installs booked in Arizona, Alabama, Michigan and Texas. If your still interested in a solar and have questions email us at ccrvtechandsolar@gmail.com and Derek will get back to you asap. Thanks again for all the video comments! - Lacey & Derek Green

    I have 2 of the 2500 dual fuel generators and have used them less than 5 times with our RV. I plan to only run on propane also. One of my recoils broke, and as you said, Champion was great with the warranty repair. I would also recommend these.

      Hey Curt, yea we haven't used ours since I fixed the recoil, our solar system provides all we need most the time but it's nice to have it for back up or when we really need lots of A/C. Thanks for your comment, I will have more videos coming soon once we are back on the road in October......

      I hook up the propane tank and open the valve. Selector to propane. Wait 15 seconds for it to self prime. Go to choke and pull once. Selector back to propane position. Pull cord once briskly. Starts right up. Works every time, at least for me. Also, pull cord gently until resistance is felt. Let the cord rewind, then pull with gusto.

    They do make 30 amp plug generators but many size and weight are massive to make them worthless for travel.

    • @ccrvsolar
      @ccrvsolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they do but they like you said they are normally bigger and we didn't need one that size due to our solar system. We have literally used our twice in 6 months while living fulltime in our Imagine Grand Design. Thanks for the comment.

    I am trying to connect my Champion 2500 Watt inverter like yours to my Multiplus. When I do that, the generator overloads immediately. Keep in mind my multiplus is set to off, so there is no AC loads. Only the multiplus connected. There is a surge of power at the start. Have you experienced this?

    • @ccrvsolar
      @ccrvsolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you turned down the the input current limit on the multi-plus. It default is 50 amps which would overload it....

    • @ccrvsolar
      @ccrvsolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Champion makes one with a 30 amp plug but for that to really be beneficial it would need to be a larger generator....since I run on propane this can do 1875 watts ÷ 120v = 15.6 amps so your never gonna get more than 16-17 amps out of this which I knew when I bought it hence the nice thing about the multiplus assist...this fits in my pass thru storage on top of a storage tote, little and lite was what I was looking for.....thanks for watching....

      @@gsxr419 I use this generator, on propane, to run my 15k camper A/C on low cool. It will run it on high cool if you burn gasoline. You just have it start it slowly and not have anything else pulling on 110v. I highly recommend this generator.
