While yeah burst timing is important, i for one, find it really difficult to burst properly against nago, cos like may, it seems like he has a lot of burst safe routes that do big damage cos his sword is so long.
I do feel that does get compensated by how a nago can get bent over by a blue burst if he went nuts with his specials and gets smacked by burst before landing a draining move
That’s kind of something he addressed, is that most things he can’t convert off without using a special, so the idea is to get him to use a special, and then prevent him from landing his big blood reducing normals in the combo afterwards like f.sss or 6H OTG. To my knowledge you can’t block burst after either 214H or 623H if you time your burst right. While it is hard to burst out of his c.S combo loops, try bursting when you see the 6S come out, or 5D if he goes for it in the juggles if you’re going to burst there, since 6H will give him significant blood drop as opposed to c.S giving him practically nothing, and 5D is pretty impossible to make burst safe
I got a super lucky kill against Nago yesterday where he decided to all in to try and chip me to death and it would’ve worked if I didn’t have burst, so he ended up popping
I mean if he doesn't use it when he knows it's gonna work, Nago has burst safe OS routes off any other bloody hit, might as well keep the corner with it.
The diff between a burst safe route and a non burst safe route for nago is like 100 damage and positive bonus and better blood drain Nago can't really do good burst safe stuff on every starter, and the first time you burst every other hit after that is going to crush your health bar and nago gets access to a bunch of blood greedier, higher damage routes that he wouldn't be able to do for fear of your burst causing him to pop blood before he gets to blood-draining H normals.

I don’t like how some ppl burst super early in the round/match. I like to use it to get out of a mixup or a sticky situation. Granted Nago and Ram can easily bait bursts like it’s nothing.
If you hold onto your burst for too long you won’t get a second one. Fighting against nagos having a defense burst is probably less useful because he can bait things so easily. His defense sucks so if you gold burst him youre better off. It’s just statistics.
@@toyboytb i don't think this is true. first off, never bursting nago's combos ever just because he can do burst safe routes is bad since it means he doesn't actually need to do burst safe routes in order to invalidate your burst. this means he never has to sacrifice the damage that burst safe routes lose him, and can just all in on every combo since you're not doing anything to stop him. if you just twitter burst him at the start of every game, now he can combo you as he pleases until the third round. but thats assuming you even GET that far; since you're letting nago bombo you for free, the game could easily end in two rounds since you have no lifeline. early bursts don't always guarentee 2 bursts a game, and most importantly, two bursts a game isn't necessarily a game-winning advantage if you sacrifice a bunch of strategic value (e.g. not having to eat every full course nago combo) to get them.
I've been running into maniacs who do hard burst baits. Like, I get that they do a trick, like jump after me for an air combo, but they are just jump blocking, but some people legit just sit on the ground and do nothing but block for what feels like 38~45 frames. It's weird. I still fall for it but its an instant mindgame situation that I notice happens a lot, usually with experienced but cocky players. Just an observation and critique of myself: I haven't the guts to just hit the ground and see what happens.
Doesn't necessarily mean they are cocky. They are committing to the burst bait, and taking the oki instead of doing a combo that will drop anyways. If they are experienced, they know after hundreds of games that people burst there, and they have a setup that beats burst and keeps their turn.
You’d be surprised how frequently I try to do 2S 5H and accidentally get 214H like in the beginning. I dunno why but it happens every now and then, and I also play on a DualShock 4.
I prefer to start most sets with kara buster and burst instantly if counterhit. If it works, funny as hell and they lose 40%. if not, I usually get burst back by the end of the round.

This Video is incredibly enlightening, I actually learned a lot from this. Thanks Hotashi!

Whenever someone bursts something that wasn't going to be big anyways, I love it personally. Early bursts before I even have positioning is great IMO.

Damn this is a very good video on managing burst. Can see alot of planning and decision making here.
This is a good video Hotashi. Thanks.

People usually do the hard read one after they RC or get a counterhit, and you have your burst. Watch out for that
A lot of people do the delayed burst these days aka the Hotashi burst
