Still driving my 9000 Aero today. I own many cars and have owned 45 cars in my lifetime. The 9000 Aero is by far the best. Mine is mildly tuned to 300bhp which is just about right for that chassis, and still does 40mpg. Did 500 miles this week and it was really enjoyable. Not to mention the best seats of any car, ever !.
There's one undeniable fact that proves the 9000 Aero was one of the best cars of it's era as well as one of the best to ever be produced. When the 9000 Aero was being reviewed by Car and Driver, beneath the cars picture in bold letters was this quote : "The Saab 9000 Aero is capable of accelerating from 50 to 100 mph faster than the Porsche 911 and the Ferrari Testarosa" From a 5 door, 4 cyl car that is capable of over 30 mpg, that's an amazing feat!
Such a great brand. They made gorgeous sedans and wagons. Most ppl do not get what the hype is about these cars until they drive one. Can’t wait to get more, have a 2006 9-3 right now and craving an aero, a Turbo X, a viggen and a 900!!!!
This is actually for the 1995 model year. The video was made in 1994 for 1995 cars. The dash was redesigned. Harmon Kardon stereo, passenger airbag and TCS disconnect were new for 1995. The V6 engine was new, with very few sold - totally a rare car. Some hatchbacks were built with V6 but not many. The low pressure turbo 170hp was new too. 225hp engine was manual only. Automatic Aeros had the CSE motor. The 9000 was finally reliable and fresh inside and out. This was the final and best 9000, and arguably, the best Saab ever.
I pick up my 1993 9000 CDE 2.3 turbo from the factory and drove it around Europe...then shipped it home to the US...probably the best riding and driving car I ever owned. Traded it in for a 1999 9-5....the 9-5 at 8 years and 75,000 miles was a maintenance nightmare.....not nearly as good as the 9000. It was a sad day when Saab shut its doors!
I have one from '91. It's past 500000 kms (310685.596 miles) and as long as it gets new oil and filters the car runs like crazy. I might give it some love next summer since it started raining in the trunk.
Traded my beetle for my 96 saab 9000 aero, best decision ever! Quiet, comfortable, and eats a v8 for lunch! I love my Saab, recommend to everybody who enjoys cars!
While I love the 9000 and would probably choose it over any other option if I were to buy a big, comfortable car from the 90's, this car is stifled by GM's pig-headed decision to not fund Saabs plans to offer the 9000 with 4WD. I think that had that option existed, the 9000 would've been a much more valuable car today.
@@Avidcomp who cares! Car was everything Saab could do in one car. As they say, the fans favorite car was the 900, and saab's favorite car was the 9000.
Saabs are some of the best engineered cars if you're not scared of wiring diagrams and technology. Per Gilbrand was an absolute genius. What we got from him was a car so far ahead of it's time, that even by today's standards an early 90s Saab model competes. No camshaft sensor, spark plugs which are used as ionization sensors, Knock regulation in a DI cassette, Multiple spark discharge at startup firing two cylinders simultaneously for quicker start, Burnoff at shutdown, the list goes on and on.
I was dating a girl in 1998 and her mother had a Saab 9000 and loved and swore by it. I ended up buying a 2000 9-3 2-door with a 5 speed manual. I loved that car. I still can't believe Saab is gone :(
I have 2003 9-5 Aero. Engine was overhauled with forged pistons. Full comfort, Aisin. Recently drove 1400 km (not per hour 😄) and… Damn, how quick it is even by today standards. I’m not talking about 0-100 as that is not where SAAB shines but 120+ kmh. Guys on a new BMW X were flashing everybody with high-beams but couldn’t break away from 21 years old SAAB at 180+ speed. And you’re fully relaxed… Wanna try late 9000 Aero. My SAAB mechanic who’s in this business for 30 years told me 9000 win at pre-120 speed hands down but after 120 9-5 is the king.
the 94 saab 9000 cd was my first car ive owned, most fantastic car ive ever driven all it offered was incredible considering how old it was it delievers the power very handy and smooth, its not an extrodinary powerful car but the feeling of the car resonated with me a lot you can feel how the car is moving due to its weight distribution, and therefore its a very nimble car the only downside of the car is that parts of the car are very expensive - so unfortunately i had to sell it... i definitely want one again when i have enough money - but a 9000 aero, theyve became expensive lately so i have to save cash
I've got a 9000CSEt Anniversary, on a '98 UK plate. She'll be up for sale soon:(, although I am upgrading to a 95HOT Aero on a 2005 next month:) The 9000, with a 180,000miles on the clock, is still as tight as a drum. As far as I'm concerned, she's still got most of her 200 horses, as is evident on shocked BMW, Audi and VW drivers faces when they're 2inches up yer backside...Kick down-turbo fires..."by by, nob head"!!! Lots of money spent over 7years, but worth it. NEVER lets me down:)
Much of this looks like it was shot in the greater Atlanta area. Probably coincides with the time that SAAB Cars USA was headquartered in nearby Norcross Georgia. 3:44 the I-75/I-85 junction signs are seen in the background.
Cool video. It's a shame that the sound was mixed by a deaf person tho. The music drowns out the voiceover pretty badly in places (not the fault of the uploader).
It's a shame SAAB didn't do as GM told it to, and keep costs reasonable on it's cars by following the company line, had it followed GM's orders to the letter and only changed the body and badges of it's 9000 replacement models, not the entire car components, SAAB would still be around today.
They couldn't afford and They did what was best..Most saabs from the 80's and up are infact Lancia.. GM Said , just put Saab logo on it, but swedish engineers "spell ?" did a complete rebuild of everything so GM just got tired of the sweds.. Yes it cost alot of money but They Also made the worlds greatest ignition system and smartest, whom adapts very well, and even today people Trying to understand T5 T7 and T8 systems from early 90's and up! Saab even on Their B234R engine, had put out 600hk
225HP from a 4 banger is still impressive today, let alone it 1994. SAAB always knew how to get the best out of their engines.
RIP
Too good
They had own V8 by then but the GM said no. RIP

I miss these kinds of commercials; manufacturers actually explaining what their products do and why.

One of the best cars, ever. Far superior to cheap, overpriced junk now
Amazing e gineeting
Pinning the throttle in those cars was like warp speed in the movies.

9000 in a different league from 95 or 93s that followed. No comparison
the best car in history !!
Absolutely true!
Maybe the best car in History of Sweden, because it is safety just like Volvo.
Great car.
Just got a used 9000CD, it's crazy how this thing from 1993 handle much better than some of newer cars I've driven.

I currently own a 2.1 16v Saab 900 and I like it, but to be honest my old 9000 was the best car I have driven. Got to love them good old Saabs.

I have a '87 9000s, starts every time, paid $250 a few years ago....
9000 best car ever.
mjrn70 I just bought my 97 9000 2.3 turbo. I love it
Better than the 900T 16s ? Is that an ignition key up by the steering column?

its a 94 i now own it and ive just completely repainted it a deep black with all beige leather interior. and it runs great :)
Love how much of this video is shot around the greater Atlanta area. SAAB's USA headquarters at the time were in nearby Norcross.
Had an '89 9000 CDE 2.0T manual in black with burgundy leather and never saw another with that interior. Loved that car...
This is a real nice looking car too when in good condition

SAAB, the most intelligent car ever built.
jesus. I want to own one now to get that hip feeling when cornering, I'm sold.
It's a shame this great company was put into bankrupcy. I seriously think about rebuilding my 1993 Saab 9000 2.3T 200 HP. Car is still running.

Death sentenced commenced with cursed GM. So sad for saab.
What a great car saab 9000 was
This is one of the few promo videos for a car that almost looks like it could pass as one done today in 2012.
просто охрененная тачка. как раз восстанавливаю... он идеален.
That's a dumb comment...
The 9000 is an incredibly safe car so it won't be his last car. He will however be that poor cars last owner...
the quality of this video is so low my eyes cannot focus.😅
I'll go to my local Saab dealer today for a test drive!
Best SAAB
