    If you ever have to remove a cell from that pack, I would bet you will have to cut the metal frame you made to get one out since the pack will swell a bit over time. My suggestion would be to build the frame slightly oversize (maybe only 1/2") and place wooden shims in the gaps when the battery is new.

    Wow! Excellent build - the battery cover, battery holder the bus bars and the cables took ages to make; They took ten times longer to make (at least) than making the actual battery - and this the case at all times!
    Thank you for the detailed video. I will try and make similar battery in the neat future! 🙂

    you should be very careful when using a metal frame for those cells, the outer aluminum shell is BONDED to the POSiTIVE terminal, meaning a MAJOR short circuit can occur. Please keep this in mind. Vibration can wear through that BLLUE vinyl decal covering.

    Mate you have made some fundamental mistakes here. Firstly The cells need air flow between .Use paddle pop sticks hot glued to one side . Three of them for those cells . If glued on one side only then you can easily separate a bad cell out without damaging others should the need arise.
    Put it together then make compression sides for the ends and run threaded rod all the way through 4 corners at least . This saves the center of the cells from overheating and expansion .Double sided tape is not enough.
    Ensure the bottoms of the cells which are negative cannot short to any ground underneath by using a piece of ply perhaps below the pack. Your frame all round is a threat there .It may well go negative and any positive connector can then short out if you start playing with BMS sense leads. I like you have covered the terminals to prevent accidental shorting.

    Right under that extremely thin blue plastic film is the battery cell which is positively charged, if it rubs against any kind of metal because the film becomes torn the battery will short out..So you don't want a metal enclosure touching the blue cells, ever..Might never be a problem, but I would never do that, you need an insulating material between the cells and metal..But to each his own..Very nice fabricating...

    Using a metal frame for prismatic cells is not a good idea unless you have lots of insulation between the batteries and the frame. A short circuit is very dangerous and can cause a fire.

    • @kimtinal9353
      @kimtinal9353  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't make any sense for this issue. Diode and cap exploding in 2 ways over voltage and reverse polarity. If over voltage, how could it be, the inverter provides voltage to charge the battery, when bms cut off, the bus voltage will be at the maximum voltage it should handle this as well. If reverse polarity it should explode from the beginning.

      @kimtinal9353  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andreitatarinov3331 yes sir, this issue is already solved. Some inverter may cause bus voltage too high when the bms cut off. For China inverter its would appear fault code 8. But this error is only on the old firmware version. If you update the inverter firmware it will work perfectly. Only fault code no components broken.

    Sir, why is it 16units for 3.2 volts which total 51.2 Volts already and not 48volts, what is the purpose of an extra 1, instead of only 15units?

    • @kimtinal9353
      @kimtinal9353  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      good question!!! the reason i choose 16S instead of 15S is about the minimum and maximum voltage of the inverter. in the inverter datasheet it said the maximum charge voltage can be set up to 58.4V and the minimum cut off voltage is 40V.
      so if i choose 15S of 3.2V cell, that it discharge voltage is 2.5V and charge voltage is 3.65V, then you could fine the total max and min voltage of the whole battery by Vmin=15x2.5=37.5V it mean that you will never get power from your battery to its minimum state cause the inverter will cut off when the battery voltage reach 40V. if use 16S Vmin=16x2.5=40V so battery cut off and inverter cut off is the same. for 16S Vmax also could reach to 58.4V same as settable voltage of the inverter.

It can be set the cut off voltage max at 58.6v and min at 40V. This value is mach for 16s lifepo4. But some brand maybe have problem such as growatt spf 5000tl, it will appear fault code 8, bus voltage too high, if we use 16s bms. It need to update the inverter firmware to solve this issue.
