  • One of a legion of practical cars that K.T. Keller deigned would have "chair high seats" and men wouldn't have to remove their hats when driving! They were dependable and long lasting, for sure...but fell behind in terms of the new styling of the day. Here's the 1950 Plymouth I compared this car to that sat beside it at the Turkey Rod Run: • 1950 Plymouth Special ...

Hey, Roberto! Not a lot of change between the two, but I think the other Plymouth was very cool too! Thanks! :) Jack

Hey Jack what a nice example of a Plymouth Cranbrook.Love that blue paint and nice interior.Love the flat fins on these.Didn’t know these only came in sixes.I thought some were eights.Different front end on these two but bodywise identical.Nice cars,I like these Plymouth’s.Thanks Jack!.✌️😎

Hey, Lee! Unfortunately, Plymouth was the last to get the semi automatic Hy Drive in '53, and didn't get a V8 until the '55 model year. I have the feeling that Chrysler did that to steer sales to Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler! Thanks! :) Jack

Very nice indeed. Stodgy but with chair high seats! Chair high seats are very good with me these days. I like the color, too.

Great observation...I would not even consider trying to enter a new Corvette never mind putting an order in for one! One's requirements do change with age! Thanks! :) Jack

Another nice old Plymouth! There was very little difference between 1951 and 1952 models. The biggest change on the outside from1950 was the slightly lower, full width grill they adopted along with sloping the hood more in the front to make the car appear a bit wider and lower (more like a Chevrolet). New for 1952 was an Overdrive option. Thanks for showing these good old girls!

Hey, Mike! I sure do enjoy showing them...these Plymouths were a very popular and integral part of people's lives during this time and provided reliable transportation. That's a good point about making the shift to lower and wider...the trend was clear. Thanks! :) Jack

Hey, Luis! Yes indeed....I remember scrubbing whitewalls quite well! They really did show off a car, providing you kept them shining! Thanks! :) Jack

Hey Jack ! That's a very nice 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook 4 door sedan , & this body style has a very even body front to back , & it looks like a respray on the exterior & she is a very nice cruiser for a weekend drive , Very nice all around.

Hey, Venice! Great observation....I'd say neat and orderly characterizes its style! You sense that its main concern was to transport its passengers in comfort and without fuss. Thanks! :) Jack

my parents bought a new 52 Plymouth Cranbrook , I told you about, they didn't have colors like this in 1952, mostly some non descript Greige ( grey Beige LOL) they didn't have great colors then, they traded in a V8 48 Mercury that they had issued with keeping clutches in the car ,

Hey, Brian! Here were the colors offered by Plymouth in '52....www.autocolorlibrary.com/pages/1952-Plymouth.html There's quite a variety, but I don't remember much of that variety back in the day...most were Plaza Maroon (my aunt's car) and they do appear rather muted. Thanks! :) Jack

@@coolrides even my middle school teachers old 52 Chrysler imperial was that beige tone with a hint of grey, must have been a popular color choice back then. I do remember seeing a burgundy 52-53 DeSoto convertible running around town, in the 60s. Someone I know refers to these Plymouths as Ugly spud's, but as my parents told me, it was a very good car.

Hey, Brian! That subdued color kind of goes along with the subdued nature of the Mopar lineups at this point...business like, nice riding, nice interiors, but not too showy! Thanks! :) Jack

I find it really strange that whoever restored it took the decision not to send the grille parts to the platers, when to me, the rest of the chrome is so obviously re-done, yet the grille is a major focal point for the car!

    • @coolrides

Hey, Mick! I'm sure there's a story for this car. Chrome plating is very expensive here, and along with the paint may be the most expensive fix for a car. Thanks! :) Jack

My first male.teacher had a 1952 Plymout bh almost identical to this one, back in 1969. I felt sorry for him because the car looked so old and out of style

Hey, John! Yes, if one is going to make characterizations about owners of cars, "teacher" would fill the bill here, and maybe nurse or salesman. DeSoto was thought to be a librarian's car...that is, before the "Forward Look"! Thanks! :) Jack
