Let’s look back at the big financial events of 2021 and the lessons we learned. 2021 was an exciting year in markets, we had meme stocks, SPACs, hedge fund blow ups and the mainstreaming of crypto. The stock market went from strength to strength this year. The year started out with the short squeezes in GameStop and then AMC.
As global economies bounced back from the pandemic, supply chains buckled due to shortages either of goods or people to deliver them. The squeeze on the labor market pushed up wages, and the press was filled with tales of the great resignation. We saw soaring oil and commodities prices and the collapse of Chinese property giant Evergrande but none of this could derail investor exuberance. Stock markets and house prices took off in 2021.
In the world of geopolitics, the first big story of the year was Brexit - Britain’s withdrawal from the EU. On top of this, the tensions between the United States and China was a big theme and may remain so in 2022. As the year comes to an end, Russia’s intentions toward Ukraine are raising concerns worldwide.
2021 was a big year for IPO’s, 1058 companies went public over the course of the year. As crypto went mainstream, we saw every social media influencer launch their own coin or NFT project. So, let’s look back at some of the biggest stories of the year.

You can be as sarcastic as you want and they won't notice because your sarcasm sounds exactly like the things they're saying completely seriously.

I haven't got any money and I'm tired of that, so I've decided to set up a scheme. For every pound I make, I will issue an NFT. So if somebody sends me £10, I will issue an NFT for that ten pound note. This will give the holder the right to say it is in some sense "their" ten pound note, regardless of where it is in the economy and they can have a jpg of their tenner to prove it.
I am hoping to become very rich. Any takers?

In the United States, those who were able to work remotely didn’t move to lower cost of living areas, sir. They moved to idyllic rural areas and drove housing costs to astronomical levels, squeezing local residents out of the market entirely, often doing a “Zuckerberg”, (buying multiple properties to keep riff-raff at a distance).

I have analysed the market efficiency of GameStop during the key period but also way before that for a university journal using rolling autocorrelation and variance tests (so classic efficiency tests but on moving windows), not only the key periods showed significant inefficiency but the long period of steady price decrease of GameStop caused supposedly by fund short selling was also significantly inefficient.

@@simonescelsa that’s funny! I was way to busy working and didn’t put enough time into DD. Chased momentum stocks that are way riskier, and didn’t really formulated game plan for my style of investing. .

Passive investing in ETF’s may be a good starting point for you to get some runs on the board. If 2021 wasn’t your thing then you may well need to be a shorting guru to make decent coin in 2022.

Elon Musk's Boring tunnel (boring tunnel!) / shenanigans is my favorite fElon Muskrat heist. Hopefully 2022 sees some regression to mean on this euphoric bubble market
