- In this vlog I want to show you the old Empress market in Karachi. This old marketplace is situated in the Saddar Town locality of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The market traces its origins to the British Raj era, when it was first constructed.[1] Today, it is amongst the most popular and busy places for shopping in Karachi. Commodities sold in the Empress Market range from condiments, fruit, vegetables and meat to stationery material, textiles and pets. A recreational park called Jahangir Park also is located nearby.

non-muslims are allowed to purchase and drink alcohol in Pakistan and it is available to them.
Unfortunately plenty of injustice and corruption at all levels. Sad but true.
@@muslim_first well it’s available to Muslims as well specially elites and if u go to defense Karachi almost all the famous restaurants are serving alcohol.. I don’t know if it’s restaurant serving or the people getting it themselves.. even in parties alcohol is open and they openly post on their Instagram.. that’s how I know!
This all area is historical places like this Empress Market and zainab Market Bans Road where you will get the 40 years 50 years old food Restaurant which is the best in Karachi and you will find the 164 year old church saint Patrick"s cathedral and oldest Hindu Temple and many more historical place in that area.

18:10 Its not cooking oil i believe but it is all kind of medicinal oil for joint pains, hair loss, dry skin etc., Like different kind of flower oil, nuts oil, oil sellers have one of the oldest known profession along the silk route

14:10 Next time go into a breakfast time open hotel and ask for Paya, I always eat Paya in the morning, best and strongest breakfast you can do, its the legs of cow or goat, may not sound appetizing but once they burn the skin n remove it, they cook it all night and in the morning you have the most delicious , most tender and soft meat of whole body and the dish is called Paya, pronounced PAA YAA, they will ask you for big or small basically meaning big cow or small goat. Goat is better i think but you are missing out mr moonshine

Green parks outside the Empress Market was flooded from many many years with encroached shops and it is cleared by the court orders; around 2~3 years ago to restore its glory to the original market.

The Empress Market was renovated recently with good area of green grass banks built around it and this place seems a lot cleaner and greener than what used to be in past.
Very impressed with your choice of Empress Market visit and this is supposed to be one of the iconic places for this city.
But I did not know there is a slaughterhouse inside which is a bit off-putting,should be somehwere far far away from city centre like away in farms or suburbs as in Europe or Western countries.I mean they should rather have some art gallery or other exhibition artifacts in a historic market like this rather than an animal slaughterhouse.

I am pretty sure this Empress Market was named after Queen Victoria since it was built during her reign. Queen Victoria was also called the Empress of India and Sindh province then was in British India.
While called a market, it is quite similar to souks (covered markets) found throughout in the Middle East.

Hi, you should visit to the north side of Pakistan like hunza, Gilgit or Nathiya Gali because it is very hot now is south pakistan and for Europeans it way to much. You will feel your Switzerland at the northern side.

Yes, it’s turmeric, called haldi in Urdu.
That wooden kiosk with oil bottles produce oil by squeezing oil seeds or dry coconuts with the help of that wooden machine called kulo which is driven by that man.Its a process that should have been captured in camera and shown to the world cause it's a rarity. Few meters away from main tower are oil shops that do the same job using expeller machine.
