      Hi what is the name for creator and rune for creator in Norse mythology? Thanks for answering!

    Man. My ears perked up when I heard them talking about authors. I hope they do bring that up in another video. These videos are exactly what this community needs. Well done.

    Excellent discussion, a wealth of knowledge to digest. Anyone seeking to use runes as part of magical practice should consider watching this video as a primer. So much subjective nonsense in modern media.

    I haven't found resources on the ritual instructions for runes and I really wish that resource was shared.
    Thank you guys for all your hard work.

    Anyone thinking a discussion of magic is childish, should be reminded thst Sir James Frazer's monumental work 'The Golden Bough' was subtitled 'A Study in Religion and Magic'.

    Meditation and thought process on these topics has led me to many of the same answers instinctively I guess. In summary, we can't learn correctly unless we know/understand the meanings/purposes and specific practices of our ancestors first, their efforts are not all lost to us...then and only then can we slowly start developing a practice to fit our more modern life. Yet I sometimes think if it worked for them why change things for modernity's sake, rather than develop our connections deeper to/with the Runes and then naturally moving forward... we still deal with majority of the same problems in life. Thanks Scott, Thor, Garrett.

    Just stumbled across your channel!
    I must admit, I was very sceptical, when I saw you were discussing runes in a magical context 😬
    BUT you seem to take a very thoughtful and academic approach!
    I am looking forward to see what you have to say on the matter!

    This was so great, Scott! It really has me thinking about the rules of runemaking. I'm looking up things like all-natural varnish and paint. I'm wondering if I could take fallen wood and plank/plane it well enough without metal alloy.. and use obsidian or stone to carve them. I think there's a spirit to the rules that probably leans in the direction of very manual and natural.

    What is your perspective on runic tattoos? Did they exist in historical time? As to the modern era, does the type runic script matter or does the intent outweigh all else?

    • @scottt.shellcontinentalger2464
      @scottt.shellcontinentalger2464  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't really want to weigh in on the historical element. If someone wants to get one, cool. If not, whatever. I don't think this should be the ultimate deciding factor for someone to get one or not.
      Sure, intent is huge, but I wouldn't want an incorrect tattoo if I were to get one of this nature. Try to be as "historically correct" as possible, but don't dwell on it. And as usual, I'm always here to help out when I can. So, PM me, and I can try to answer any questions you or someone else might have.

    Could you make a video elaborating onthe Gallehus Horn and the engraved figures doing runic poses or dances, "rune yoga" as you called it. I personally have a hard time seeing it but I find the proposition fascinating. I do see the relation between the Gallehus horn figures and the Odinic dance of the Torslunda and Sutton Hoo finds.

    • @Whispersfrommidgard
      @Whispersfrommidgard 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think the runic yoga was actually a thing. I think that's something that one guy wrote but I don't think there's any historical evidence of that being done

    Observation. At around 18:20-18.23, a tiny white dot goes towards Scott from the left. An orb or energy of some kind? I haven't had a chance to watch the whole video to see if it occurs again.

      Yes--
      The Application of Peircean Semiotics to the Elder Futhark Tradition. Peter Lang. 2022. Forthcoming.
      Honoring the Saxons: Re-establishing a Runic Tradition. 2023. Forthcoming.
      I'll update everyone when they're actually released. The first one is based on my dissertation. The second one is for more of a heathen audience.
