Hi Jon, I really enjoy your videos (including the production values you have). I'd love to see a part 2 where you take us on a journey doing a session. Things like how you approach what part to play, what sound(s) to use, which guitar(s) etc. Do I assume you record dry but use effects in your DAW to give the mix engineer full choice?
I did do something like this for Ed Thorne, it's called "recording guitar for a TH-cam'. No electrics on that though. Re use of effects it depends completely on the project. Usually I consider effects to be part of the guitar sound so I'll export with effects and actually sometimes record with effects. It's usually not the mixer's job to make those decisions.
Interesting, I stumbled on this video because somebody asked me to record some lead guitar on their track and I was wondering how much should or could I charge them etc. etc. I'm still not sure. Thanks
I can register with PPL as a performer on the track, but if you mean a writing royalty, no. Only on occasions where I'm writing a specific, identifiable, important part and it's agreed in advance.

I’m not sure if it was helpful for you in your decision making but I hope it worked out.
How much do you charge? I need a starting point, thanks.
It depends.
Good one..do you have a royalty on songs you record like split sheet
