I love both homes but your pole barn aesthetics are more my style .
This home is quite different from your new pole barn home. I would call it new and polished vs quaint and cozy! It's all a matter of preference. With the talents and experience that you and your husband have, I'm sure you will transform Lavender Blue into the most charming cottage ever! I'll be watching! Enjoy the process!
It absolutely precious. You are very wise to live in the house and let the house speak to you and discover the best way to make it yours. Congratulations!
It's lovely. Check under the carpet. Sometimes older homes have original hardwood under the carpet.
There’s a durability and charm to many mid century homes like this one that can’t be surpassed. When you’re done with the aesthetic changes, it will be gorgeous.
Seeing your white, bright, marble, lovely home first and then this one is pretty much of a shock together. The outside of this one is so beautiful and the hard work that was put into it building all the paths and flower bed. Then walking in to the work you will be having to do on this one is more than I could invision or take on. I know you love that but your other one was done after five years of work. You say you will leave a lot untouched but once the brightening starts I wonder if you will be able to. I may be just too old to want to start this much work and of course furniture will change the looks right away but I can’t wait to see what you do.
It is a charming home and property. I agree that it takes time to live in a new home as a family to see what works and what doesn't. I also agree that most of the changes are cosmetic rather than major construction. Before you know it, the home will reflect your style. Enjoy the process. We look forward to watching what you do. Thank you for sharing your heart.
What a darling home. I can’t wait to see you personalize it to your family’s needs. I look forward to seeing watching your delightful transformation. 😊
This home is so inviting. Thanking God for this huge blessing. Prayer for many years of happiness and joyful memories for your whole family!
I can see why you were drawn to this cozy cottage! Its charm is perfect for your style. It’ll be exciting to see how you transform it into your own home.
The brick is fabulous and the character is so inspiring.
It is so beautiful just as it is, and I can hear the quiet contentment in your voice and words. It’s really wonderful how God works. I think he gave you the desire of your heart ❤️
My house has them light switches that control the center light or ceiling fan 4 of my rooms … also we purchased this home from a 98-year-old Czechoslovakian lady that we knew we lived on this block so when she leave to Galveston, she sold us the home. We were very fond of her but being that she was old she had her plugs up to make it convenient for her and I totally love the plugs high. We have some that are lower, but I kept the ones that were high when we rerouted rewired the house. I told them I want the plugs that had been there and then we had more plugs, but that is really cool as the older you get it gets harder so low and if you live in a flood zone they requested you put your plug higher so this lady had something going on way back to him, she was 25. I met her and they would tell me stories of the fireplace and things, but this house means so much to me because I grew up in this house and then when my mother passed, she left me the house and so that we knew the owner personally❤️
We have did very few updates. I still have original shiplap in the hallway. The kitchen has some type of wood paneling. It looks like sheet rock, but it’s not so we left it like that being at the house on pier and beam,I need to relevel it this year
I am swooning! I wouldn’t change hardly anything. It’s beautiful with tons of character. Congratulations on your new home ❤
It’s very charming your new home. I’ve bought and sold and rented MANY HOMES…my only input is “less is more”. Enjoy!!! 💜
Much good luck on your cozy house! It’s very charming 😊
Well, I can certainly see why you love this gorgeous home! There is so much charm, character, value in all that REAL WOOD! What a beautiful place for your family to begin the next chapter. You all deserve a nice long rest after your many years of endless work. Relax and enjoy and may the blessings flow!
It does seem very cozy, almost like stepping into the home of Little Women. I can see why you’re so drawn and so excited. So happy for you! 🎉❤ God bless!
Potential, potential, potential! I know you will amaze us with your creativity and make a wonderful home!
Love the cottage
I like the fact that you will be truning the formal dining room into a pantry/ kitchen extension. You can add a beautiful kitchen island for your food prep.
Oh my...I can see why you may have questioned your move. A beautiful home, especially when you built yourself. We built our forever/retirement home in 1995 with the help of our 5 kids on 3 acres, so I could have my horses etc. We had so many different memories, our annual Christmas open house, parties, bible studies, graduations, college kids, and receiving those that mourned with us when our 17 hear old daughter, second of five children was killed in a MVA one week before her HS graduation. We did sell to our youngest so he could and his wonderful wife could raise there daughters there. This was 7 years ago and there are days I wish we were still there. I love your current home and especially the brick and beams, since I love a rustic ranchy home. How fun it will be to make it yours, blessings from central Nebraska Nebraska.
As you walked us through the house I started smiling and thought, oh that is so you and fits your style to a T. Can't wait to see the process of transformation as it goes from a house to a home. May God bless you with a house full of love, laughter and peace.
This home speaks to me on so many levels - especially the charm factor which is over the top!!! Each space is just enough - all very cozy and sweet.
I love the food storage in the basement. You can have a party making food to store for the winter after you harvest the crop you will so much love to make one day. Your very own vegetable garden in addition to your lavender. Kind of a small homestead.
You can definitely create a European cottage in your new home. Changing out countertops, flooring backsplashes will brighten the areas up and give it your beautiful touches. The cabinets and doors are definitely keepers, especially as they are all solid wood! I would turn the “formal” dining room in a prep kitchen/pantry- add lower cabinets and countertops, a sink, one wall oven and a smaller dishwasher and fridge or freezer and then open shelving for food storage, this will allow extra people to bake and cook and prep along with you in the small kitchen. I love all the brick, I will say I love how Andea on her channel Pine and Prospect has created her galley kitchen. Live in it, figure out the flow and function of each room before making any major design decisions.
What a beautiful home! It's full of character and potential. You're able to start living right away since everything is already done and you can mosey into many, if not most of your home improvements. Although your previous home was also very beautiful, I think you made a great decision moving to this new home. Congratulations!
I love it’s charm! The wallpaper in the upstairs hallway is so cute, maybe paint the bottom a different color. It reminds me of my childhood home in some ways. I can’t wait to see what you do to it and your things in it! 😊
It’s simply charming, Cami. I look forward to watching you add your design palette, as you make it your own. Congratulations my friend!
The contrast between your "old" pole barn home and this "new" cottage home is so incredible! Both are lovely in their own ways, but I love an old home. I'm hoping someday my family will be able to afford one of our own!
Btw, I've been seeing ads lately for colored toilets, so they're coming back in style 😉
God bless you and your family in this new home. I can't wait to see how you make it your own!
I'm in love with this home! The master bedroom is small but those closets are great. The brick in the kitchen is gorgeous.
I think the house is so charming. Love the brick in the kitchen and the cabinets. The upstairs bedrooms are cute. A lot of storage for an older house. I can’t wait to see what you do with this house.
Wow, the atmosphere inside your Cottage House is very cosy, and it's nice to live there. Interesting video, thanks for sharing
Oh my word - that’s adorable! It will be fun to see you update it. It’s amazing how a little paint and new flooring and even new hardware for drawers/cabinets make a huge difference! I can see why you fell in love with it. 💜💜
Girl, it has so much potential. I love all the little nooks. We are 2 years in on our older home journey. So excited to see what you do. We left a brand new build for a 1980’s ranch. I truly love the separation of rooms. It makes the house feel so good to us. Weird how you leave a new open floor plan and fall in love with walls 😂. Enjoy the journey. God Bless you and your family!!
What a beautiful home you left behind.
That brick in the kitchen is Devine! My biggest wish is that the video was longer and a little slower walk through. That's my only suggestion and look forward to seeing what you do. I know your husband's talents will make this house exactly what you envision!
The house she built was just beautiful. I love how you eloquently shared your feelings about leaving this home. The lavender blue cottage has so much character and I know you’re going to do a great job making it your own. The wood doors are gorgeous and when I saw the wood accent in the one bedroom, I automatically thought that would be a good one for a boy. I am looking forward to watching your new adventures.❤️
I know this “new” home will have your vibe in no time! You’re doing it right, though, by living in it first for a while and getting the feel for the space and how and what you need to change to make it what your family wants and needs. I’m excited for your new journey and will love following along!
I love it! With your creativeness you and your husband will turn that house into a dream as you did your last home. So much charm and character there. Blessings on your adventure!
What a sweet home! It seems like a place of and togetherness. I hope that you all will to love it and make it your own and build beautiful memories in it.
Oh my ever loving goodness,,,,,,that’s beautiful!
You are definitely BLESSED! Congratulations ❤
Love your poetic reflection on your home. Reminds me of us!
I hope you find all that you wish for in this new adventure. Taking time to slowly make changes is a breath of fresh air for you, I would imagine. All the hard work of your last home brought you (hopefully) to your forever one. Cozy is my cup of tea. May many blessings come for you and your family.
I LOVE French Country style, like your first home! It sounds like finances played a role in your decision to move? The new old cottage could be cute with some work. The previous owners added too many 70’s elements to the home, personally I would have to rip it out. It does have cute curb appeal, best wishes to you all!
Yes, this home is cozy! Can’t wait until you put your touches on it. A dream come true for you! 😘
I ❤ and understand both homes and the desire to not scrape by, less space, more focused time. I’m excited for you guys. Both homes are beautiful because your family is living there. Good luck!! ❤happy unpacking.
How darling! I love the brick in the kitchen! Can’t wait to see more! I especially think your idea of making that room off the kitchen into a butlers pantry, would be incredible!
The room to the right as you come in the door would have been the formal living room, I think, not the dining room. That was popular in the era it was built. I’m guessing the room you are turning into the butlers pantry would have been the dining room..
The carpet is Berber. It was popular in the 80s or 90s and it’s back in style now. My daughter just put it in her house. It wears like iron, but I’ve never liked it myself, even back then. I do prefer carpet, but the more plush kind. I know, most people like wood floors, but after having them for 16 years, I’m over it!
It’s nice that they built this home with so much quality, like the brick fireplace in the kitchen and the solid wood doors. It will be fun to see the changes you make and the things you leave the same. There’s such a stark contrast between the pole barn home and this one, it would have been quite the process for me to decide to make the leap. I see the benefits to this home for both your businesses, though. I wish you well!
What a charming Cottage!
What a great home. Yes dated but so much potential. Our last home had a large formal living room that connected to a small dining room that attached to the kitchen. It didn’t work for us. So we turned the original dining room into a breakfast nook (had great windows) and butlers pantry/serving area. The original formal living room then was turned into our dining room. I found the largest table and it sat about 16 people. It was amazing. When we had gatherings all the food would be placed in the butlers pantry/serving area and our guests would help themselves. Kept the kitchen somewhat clean during parties. I’m sure whatever you do will be lovely. Enjoy your new space
So glad you are looking forward to immediate relief from trauma of building and completing your previous home and land. Whew!
I'm guessing a top priority is getting the work shop set up and then the outdoor work.
Oh my goodness! This house is darling! So many beautiful fixtures and architectural features that are amazing!
I love the wallpaper!!!! I’m so excited to see you do with this cozy home! ❤
Cami, you and your family will enjoy the coziness of the indoors and the beauty of the outdoors. Those doors are the same doors I have here. I do like the wood tones. Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure it was difficult to leave your other beautiful home!❤
I understand the change!! A charming cottage, how could anyone turn away from this place!! Congratulations ❤
It is lovely. So warm and homey. It looks like a well loved family home. It's very you. I'm sure you will make it even more magical.
I am so excited to sit back and watch it unfold into your home, sweet home.
Very darling....The cottage would be one that I would choose, as well...May God continue to bless you and your family...
Love the outside - the color and the surroundings. I can see myself in that space. The inside can be made to be a sweet cottage feel, and I'm sure you will get around to it. I would have to lighten it up pretty quickly, though. I wouldn't like all of the darkness. I can totally understand the move, though. It's hard to pour all the resources into it....need to live a little.
This is such a lovely and cozy home. I think there is a lot of benefits to smaller homes. But this is not exactly small. How exciting to make new plans! I appreciated hearing your thoughts on your last home. There certainly a lot of emotions with homes we live in and put a lot of time into.
What a Blessing!! This house is perfect for you! It has enough to give you a creative outlet, but won’t be overwhelming. Love love this house! Excited to see what you do.
Oh, and totally love the yard! I would live outside😊
Love the lights fixtures with the white milk glass globes---perhaps removing the door to the family room as you enter from foyer and enlarge the opening and case it- this would open it up and be very spacious =====love the house =======😊😊😊
Oh how I would love to have such a charming home.. I am with you Cami... work with it all.. I can see the memories your children will have when they are older.. what a blessing for your family...I have a more modern home but that phase for me is over and I dream of character and charm.. Blessings to you and your family..
Hi, from the entrance a black runner. The ones they use in offices any public building to protect the carpets they have or people from slipping on wet floors will do wonders to cover the sleigt tiles until you are ready to do something with it. The family room, all it needs an area rug, big enough to cover most of the existing rug until you are ready to get rid of it and do something else.
Wow! What a difference from your pole barn home...looking forward to seeing the changes you and your husband make to your new Lavender Blue home! Enjoy!
I love it for the most part - especially the brick arch in the kitchen! I always wanted an arch over the stove in our dream home that we built years ago. We just couldn’t make it work and have the counter space we needed also. It’s always a trade off. I am so excited to watch you make this house into your home!🤗
I always love when people realize they don’t need the brand new, white, tall ceilings & ensuites. The charm of this home can just not be found in new homes now a days. Very good choice 👍🏻 I had actually unsubscribed yrs ago when I saw the house you were building, something so far out of reach for me. I prefer something more realistic to the rest of us. I’m glad TH-cam brought you back to my mind
Love your new home, Advice from someone who has traveled through the open concept era as well as the 70's with border papers and wall papers, remove them all, keep the closed room concept, it's coming back trust me, and the years with kids go by quickly and with enclosed rooms the teen time travels well as they seek their privacy and then it's empty nest and you are set with your master down and bath. The grandkids will love your new home and wonderful setting. Go slow, keep the best of the house and enjoy
Hanging on to every word of advice you just left me! I am surprised at home much I am loving a home that is not open concept, and I think you are right - it is coming back! It just feels so cozy! Thanks for joining me on this journey!
It will be so fun to see what you do with this cozy home! I know you will make it lovely!
How beautiful! I love your positive attitude towards it all. Very refreshing!
So excited for you! Can’t wait to watch the transformation!
Dave Ramsey says our forever home is not on earth, but in heaven. Wow, you now have a basement. We have one but I only go down to do laundry.
It does give you an Anne of Green Gables feel.
I'm excited to see your touches on it! Have fun with the journey!
What a beautiful home. Cant wait to see you make it your own. Let the Journey begin. 🙏
Your yellow toilet was called harvest gold. This is during the Avocado green time. There was also a brown called Coppertone.
Also, check your outlets that are controlled by the switches. We have that in our living room. I love it. It only controls the top plug. It makes it simple to walk in & flip on the two lamps beside the sofa. The other plug in the outlet stays hot all the time.
I love it. We had the radio in the wall in one of our homes, and it worked. When you turn it on, it takes a minute for the tube to warm up . We also had the same intercoms system. ❤❤❤
What a darling home. I love the wallpaper upstairs. I cannot wait to see you make it your own.
Oh so fun to make it your own. I think I would make that room off the kitchen part of the kitchen...as in knock down a wall to incorporate it. So cute and perfect for your family. Have fun!
Your new home is so cozy and beautiful! I can’t wait to see all the wonderful decorating videos too ! 😊
That is going to be so much fun to renovate and make your own.
Nice home! I know with a few minor changes you'll all enjoy the quaintness of the details and the endless charm it has to offer! I love the brick in the kitchen! The intercom system did give me a giggle though! As the house isn't that large to actually need one, I'm sure it was nice to have!
Your new home is great love all the nooks and crannies!! It definitely has character. They don’t make houses like that anymore.😊
The house definitely has potential. Downstairs definitely a craft/office room for you and a homeschooling area for the children with a recreational space as well. I'd focus on the outside landscaping areas a little at a time. Couldn't tell if the ceilings are popcorn or not but if they are I'd tackle that as you do each room. Good luck.
Such a darling home with lots of potential to make it your own.
Looking forward to seeing how you decorate the house and turn it into your home ❤
After the walk through of the empty house, I cannot imagine any woman wanting something more... or different. Especially when you speak of the heart and soul, and work and memories and lessons. I will now watch the video and reserve judgement before weighing in. OK... as a lover of old charming rooms, with angles and wood and bricks... I could totally live in this house. I love it. Can't wait to watch you transform it. Yes to the pantry! And as for the upstairs hallway wallpaper,,,,,, I think if the bottom was just painted white or a soft blue it would look great. I am sure you already know that all your sweat equity will pay off here too.
I love old homes and I see tons of potential in this home. I know you also have reasons besides just the home that you decided to make the move. I’m sure you’re going to make it beautiful and love living there and that’s all that matters but girl, I can’t understand for the life of me how you could actually walk away from that amazing home that your family built together. It was so amazing and that view out the front door was incredible!!! But I’m happy for you even if I don’t understand 😂
So much potential!! I love an older home. So many stories. Congrats and enjoy!
It's so cozy and quaint! Can't wait to see your touches to your new home!
Dearest Cami, ( I hope I don't sound presumptuous saying that, I just feel like I know you now) I am proud of you all for taking that huge, scary step of picking up and moving from your gorgeous new house to this lovely OLD house! I understand the pull to the Old, it's lived in me a long, long time. I also moved from a newer house to an older, not on the grand scheme you gave but I still understand ALL those feelings!!!! Bless you on your journey, I know it will reflect your style very soon!
you 'have'
I’m excited for you all. I will truly miss your beautiful pantry though! Glad to know you are thinking about putting in another one❤
Thank you for sharing and I can see the appeal and charm of this new old home 💗
Looking forward to all the renovations to make this beautiful cottage your own!
So cute and old fashioned. Look forward to your touch to it.
Beautiful. Sweet and cozy. Our dream and prayer is to find an older craftsman bungalow with the original wood work in tact. Preferably on a little piece of land.
I love it! I really see the potential. It's so charming and the property is just amazing. I can't wait to see what you do with the place. I love your style and am so excited for your future renovation videos.
Love love love your new home!!!!! So cozy and comfortable!!!!!
It’s soo sweet! I can’t wait to watch you make it your own!
