Thank you for teaching the truth. We need to stand on the truth and never stop telling your truth. As a African American our stories have to be told so people can see and hear our pain. Freedom isn’t free your people paid a high cost for everything in American.
Correct you are. I give thanks for the truth and for the Wampanoag Tribe and all other tribes. You are the originals and for that, I love and respect our history. What you have done is change the game of historical lies and deception. Keep educating us. Keep living and being the People of the First Light! May our ancestors protect you and restore you to wholeness.
I have so much , respect and value , all Mother Earth and indigenous Natives have always told their truth through a better way of respect and honoring land animals and spirit , sending blessings
1863 is the year President Lincoln made the holiday of Thanksgiving. That was also the year that the U.S. Army forced the Long Navajo Walk also known as the Trail of Tears . We are led to believe that this holiday is based on a story of a shared feast that took place when the Pilgrims arrived. I admire how well you know your Tribal History.
As a child, I was one of the many children who were told the wrong message about the 1st Thanksgiving. I have native American Indian on both sides of my family, in fact I have a picture of one of my great great grandmother in my living room. I kind have known it wasn't quite what I learned. I was at a wedding south of Boston and I wanted to go to Plymouth rock. I was very interested to read and see everything that was available for me to see. I blessed every part of the land and all of the native Americans who my ancestors slaughtered. I have had a difficult time with Thanksgiving since. I try to be thankful each day and on this day , thanks for whatever the day brings. I also apologize for my ancestors, the way our children are taught and all of the other misinformation from that time. I wish I could meet many of my native American Indian relatives. BLESSINGS to all of you.
I totally understand and honor you and your ancestors🙏🏼 you could still celebrate it as a harvest celebration, like they celebrated even before thr pilgrims got there.
Miles is good looking. I'm non Native American. Not a bit of blood in my entire family lineage. We as a last one of us NEVER celebrate "Thanksgiving". The day is a day of mourning those kind people who were so brutally and needlessly murdered for no reason what so ever. I cringe when I hear others smiling and wishing, "Happy Thanksgiving!" to each other because there was and is nothing to be thankful over. Nothing at all.
😢This is so true. I am sick hearing the greeting of Thanksgiving. My family recently have been recognized as a Native American tribe. My grandfather was a historical chief.
High quality and nuanced. I have been feeling for a while that the complete understanding of the wampanoag-pilgrims thanksgiving teaches several lessons perfectly.
I am Mexican, my live and soul with our anscestors. One thing would like to address; US is not America, the founders if US were white christian people. The name America to the continent was given almost 300 years before US was founded. The name was given by a German map maker, not for the exclusive right of US, beca US did not exist then, but to the land and people of Alaska all the way down to Patagonia Argentina. US was called the Union, and adopted America i July 4, 1776,vafter their independence from their own people(Englan). From then on, they stole the land, then the name America for themselves only.
I agree with a lot of what you I agree we should support the native american companies , and add these foods to the celebration, actually this is a very good tape, God Bless you say
One of the great misconceptions is desensitizing who those people were that came from Europe. Who were sent by their Royal leader. The myth that everyone indoctrinated to believe. Is that they were somehow pilgrims. Pilgrims are groups of people who goes on a religious fact-finding and discovery. Those that broke bread with the original Native Americans. Who posed as we come in peace. They were truly mercenary sent by their ruling King!
What would happen if you stopped for a moment and thought women of whatever background were not up to you to objectify. Would you just completely explode??
Let’s call it Indigenous Remembrance Day and I’m from Jewish background and animal rights activist and veg. In fact nature is most important. My ancestry is from Russia and I can tell you that Europeans stole the land. I saw a coyote this morning and he looked lost. This made me sad. So much land taken away. I call this day Thankstaking.
Истината винаги излиза наяве, колкото и да се манипулира. Срамна е за колонизаторите и тежка за потомците им. Коренните бяха безпощадно избити, но победиха и остават в историята с всичките си добри качества будещи възхищение. Обичам ви. ❤❤❤
I think it would be interesting to eat foodstuff from a traditional indigenous Thanksgiving dinner with venison, seafood, etc. My late elders made oyster stuffing.
Just as we need to be introspective as individuals to grow and move forward in our development as humans, we also need to do this as a collective, in truth. z
I haven't forgotten. Descendant of Roger Williams basically I am. Pilgrims were very thankful to The Wampanoag Clan that Squanto belonged to from The Patuxet Tribe. Sad that his whole tribe was whipped out by disease in such a short time. I know I'd like to meet your people. I have a lot to teach. Wish I had your email addresses.
Personally I feel a closeness to Indians this time of year. My xmas will be purchased from the southwest Indians. Not sure of heritage. Its a sad holiday for some....???❤

Reality check. So appuling and sad. I try to live in the here and now, but, learn from the past, true history from both sides. Most people I know were not living in the Americas at that time. I like to thank God for the wonderful harvest and good health for all families of Americans.
These people lived off the land and waters that white men took. Fact The young guy on video tells of how we should treat others everyday not just holidays.
I would not be here today if it were not for mayflower pilgrims.. my Wampanoag line would have been killed by neighboring tribes. I am thankful. We all know it’s the truth. They were dying out.
Why aren’t you upset at Squanto? He was taken away in slavery and came back to 90% of his tribe being wiped out and what did he do? He saved the pilgrims lives by helping them. That’s a story for the ages of you’re me, but for you, it should enrage you. How could he do that?
I'm native. I don't think digging up old grudges is healthy so Thanksgiving doesn't bother me. It's not like anyone has called for a "Displacement Day" holiday or anything.
@@maryfrances1307 Everyone parrot that quote, but few actually mean it. Not only do people believe the myth of Thanksgiving but they teach it, and it's taught from the time we start school. It should be abolished.
It sounds like you guys celebrated something like the Feast of Tabernacles that the children of Israel kept to show thanks for their harvests.
