    Aladdin was always a prince if you think about it, because his father ( seen in the third movie) is the King of Thieves, making Aladdin the PRINCE of Thieves.

      +TyranntX While kingships can be established by any force of arms, a princehood requires the authority of a state to confer. There is no such state in ruled by Alladin's father as presented in King of Thieves, meaning no princehood to be gained from his father's kingship. Theories from the first film need to stick entirely to facts from the first film since very little of the first film's meta-narrative actually made it into the subsequent films nor to the subsequent films retroactively contribute much to the first film's metanarrative aside from stripping its richest layers away through ret-con.

    Aladdin's father is the King of Thieves, that makes Aladdin the Prince of Thieves. what if before Aladdin's wish to be a Prince his father was just a poor wanderer and a beggar with no titles and to make Al a prince he turned his father into a king? Because to be a Prince you have to either be the son of a king/queen or marry into royalty and since Genie can't force anyone to love Al he likely went through the second route, changing the class of his parents, his mother was likely dead but his father still alive was turned into the King of Thieves since in Arabia there are no kings, Sultans are the only king like figures but not called kings. What do you think?

    I always thought Jeffar used his Sorcerer powers to revoke all the Magic that Genii gave Aladdin, ya know, magically. I never thought he used his Sultan Powers to legally remove Aladdin's Princehood too.

    • @userasdf
      @userasdf 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +AlphaWolvesGamer We don't know where Aladdin's kingdom is... There's no reason to think Sultan Jafar can revoke his princehood... It'd be like Obama saying Prince charles is no longer a prince. It was due to the magic.

      It's not though... sultan just means king. Tons of other kingdoms around. If you take the show as cannon (you even see references to the show in the last movie) you can even see some of the other kingdoms in this universe.

      @FrancescaAkira89 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +userasdf please, there isn't aladdin's kingdom, the genie just did magically appear a beautiful dress, servants and gold... it was all fake, for this reason there is a moral dilemma on the lie he said when he was a "prince"...

    • @userasdf
      @userasdf 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FrancescaAkira89
      uh no. the wish was for him to BE a prince, not appear to be a prince. It's pretty clear. He's an actual prince. Easiest way is that the genie can just make it some kingdom has their memories and history slightly rewritten inserting aladdin as another one of his sons. But it's very clear that his wish is to BECOME a prince. So unless the genie can suddenly disobey wishes and just fake it, he's a prince.

      The plot-holes weren't actually plot-holes, Aladdin's names throughout the movie had significance, and the genie was subtly trying to nudge him in the right direction so he could accept his true accomplishments.

    For Genie to make Aladin a prince, he would of also had to made a entire place for him to rule over as well as a family in which he'd come from on top of that. Soooo, I think all Genie did was just put on a good display to pretend to be a prince. Notice that all those people with them don't seem to stick around, as if just magic constructs that once the display was done, casually disapeared.

  • @misseli1
    @misseli1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Actually, after a second viewing of this it makes more sense to me.
    At first I thought Genie turning Aladdin into a prince simply meant he made him "appear" to be a prince because Al didn't have an actual kinhdom.
    But if Genie did in fact turn Jafar into a legitimate Sultan of Agrabah, then the most powerful sorcerer in the world, and THEN a genie, whose to say Al wasn't a legitimate prince all thanks to Genie?

  • @michaeliv284
    @michaeliv284 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Technically, Alladin is a prince: The Prince of Thieves

  • @ashat3823
    @ashat3823 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, in the "King of Thieves" movie, it is made clear that Genie was a gift to Aladdin from his father; and all the gold and riches in the tiger's cave is actually rightfully Aladdin's. Making Aladdin a prince, who was orphaned due to both his parents death.

  • @oida10000
    @oida10000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I don't think that Genie made Aladin a real Prince, he merly gave him a prince cloathing and the riches, he didn't altered the timelinie a thing he offered because they would be harder to undo even for Jafar (as wizzard he has to less powers, as Genie he can't kill (a thing may needed to undo a timespell)). Jafar also wasn't Sultan, Genie was merly forced to steal the Sultans cloaths for him, move the palace up the mountain and make every otherone fall in linie.

    • @santosic
      @santosic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As he said in the video, though, they're obligated to grant the exact wording of the wish. So, in order for Aladdin to become a prince, he had to literally make him a true prince. Whether this involves rewriting the timeline or not is up for debate, but why shouldn't that be possible for a genie?

    • @Merilirem
      @Merilirem 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I always figured an entire kingdom was brought forth from and returned to nothingness throughout this movie. On the other hand, jafar may not have completely undone everything genie did, he may have just turned Aladdin back, and an entire kingdom is just sitting out there somewhere without a ruler. Though perhaps he played on words and made the king of thieves movie come to pass entirely. Who knows.
      When bound he literally had unlimited power.

    • @oida10000
      @oida10000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      *****
      Yes it would be possible for a genie, but Aladin simply asked to be a prince, not a *_true_* prince so it is reasonable to assume the Genie went with what was the simplest to do.

    This is for the Disney version btw...
    What if Genie didn't really have rules, and it was just his morals because we know he has morals.
    For example Rule number three: I can't bring people back from the dead. IT'S NOT A PRETTY PICTURE, I DON'T LIKE DOING IT! Does that mean he did it before? He probably did and it ended badly, and the only reason he calls them rules is because if he said "these are the 3 wishes I don't like to grant" some people wouldn't care and would still make the wish that he would be forced to grant, but if since he said "they are rules" people wouldn't even bother making the wish.
    Another example, What if he did grant a wish of making someone fall in love with someone else and it ruined an entire family or even caused an entire war. What if genie caused the battle of Troy. What if Paris made a wish to Genie that Helen of Sparta would love him, and that's how Paris "stole" Helen because as I remember it Helen had the freedom to choose her husband why didn't she just choose Paris from the beginning. (this is just an example its the only thing I could think of at the time, and I really don't know the story that well)
    Also what if he just feels bad when people die so he doesn't like to grant the wish to kill people.
    SORRY FOR THE BAD GRAMMAR IDGAF
    JON SOLO PLEASE DO A THEORY ON THIS!!!!
    Edit: So after watching this video I came up with a theory to why Genie can only grant 3 wishes. What if Genie isn't immortal, and he has a certain amount of wishes he can grant before he dies, and he wants to satisfy as many people using his given amount of wishes, so he tells people that the limit is 3.
    Another possibility is he knows that if you tell a human that they have unlimited wishes they will end up power hungry and be consumed by their greed. So to avoid this he just sets the limit to 3.
    Also what if genie can grant his own wishes, in Aladdin you see him shape shift and do this using his powers even though he is not instructed to (even before Aladdin freed him from the lamp). What if he has the ability to do what ever he wants with his powers when he is out of the lamp as long as it doesn't defy his masters wishes, So technically if he wanted to he could create rules and regulations for himself as long as the master didn't tell him not to.

    "The genie called him 'al' throughout the movie, meaning he may have known about his true identity from the beginning." THIS IS HUGE! Does this mean that Genie was psychic? Was Aladdin another chosen one archetype? Did the genie engineer Aladdin's rise to power? This deserves a theory (and a movie) of it's own!

    I knew that since I was a kid. It's not that hard to figure out. The only problem I have with the theory is that the Sultan doesn't have authority over the princehood of princes from other countries, so we can suppose just that the power of Jafar after the Genie made him the best sorcerer is enough on its own to reverse the wish.

  • @blindchicken9739

    Technically while he was a street rat he was already a prince- the Prince of Thieves -due to his father Casime, the King of Thieves, as seen in the second Aladdin sequel. This is of course assuming that his father is already the King of Thieves by the beginning of the first movie.

    I always thought genie granted Aladdin's wish by making him look like like a viable candidate to marry Jasmine, who is a princess, so technically, if Jafar never interfered, the two would get married and Aladdin would legitimately become a prince. Thus, genie would have granted his wish, regardless if he was already one before marrying Jasmine.

      +Allie Dance There's actually a theory that Aladdin's father is just an ordinary beggar at the time of the first movie and that only after Aladdin made the wish to become a Prince that his father was also converted into a King in a way, hence making him a real Prince. This explains why his father never really came back even though he had such a position of power. He only got the power later on. Also, even Kings have to follow the rules of a greater ruler, so I guess this might explain how even though he's the son of a King, he couldn't be considered a prince anymore as he was banished.

    If you’ve seen the new Aladdin movie then you know that the genie only made Aladdin look like a prince on the outside, on the inside he (Aladdin) was still just a street urchin. Also, when Genie asked if Aladdin’s wish was official, he (Genie), didn’t give the “street rat” time to respond. Therefore, as I said earlier, Aladdin was NOT truly royalty, he only resembled it on the outside.

    This makes a bit more sense with the original song that appeared instead of 'Prince Ali (Reprise)', 'Humiliate the Boy'. In the song, Jafar explicitly tells the Genie to revoke everything he gave Aladdin - which would include his princehood ("Take everything you gave him, all the magic stuff, away"). So in this version, it wasn't Jafar using sorcerous power to zap away his princely robes, it was the Genie taking away the previous wish. However, the song would have introduced another plot hole, because it was written before they added the three-wish limit and Jafar makes numerous requests of the Genie just in the space of the one song to mess with Aladdin.

    It Was kind'a confusing to me about how it seemed like everyone acted like the wish never happened, even right after it happened. It does seem to make more sense for it to have something to do with hiding 'how' he became a prince than just being one. Though... the movie also could've been saying that people aren't different just because of their station in life, and that the only thing separating street rats and royalty is what they wear. (...or what shampoo they use. Or their table manners. Or how often they bathe at all.)
    Oh, I never noticed before that 'Al' could be a shortening of either Aladdin OR Ali.

    Ok, so where was the plot hole? I was confused and followed him to the end, but by the end I realized he'd just told me what I already knew about the movie, so what's the deal? What on earth did I miss??

    Technically speaking, it doesn't matter if Aladdin was a real prince or not before marrying Princess Jasmine, because it's a known fact that marrying royalty makes one royalty, (at least in some cultures)......... So he'd end up being a legitimate prince, as soon as he married the princess....

    • @Merilirem
      @Merilirem 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, wish 1 could have still been in effect until he was dispelled or even after, since we have no idea how sorcerer powers work. All we know is that genies are basically gods.

    • @BubblesNWatermelon3
      @BubblesNWatermelon3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      perhaps=. But the argument in the video is that it was not Jafar's sorcerer powers that took Aladdin's prince powers. But the legal authority of a sultan (jarar's first wish) that could take prince hood away from anyone.

    • @chewyDC1
      @chewyDC1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Explain this then.. She chooses to marry Aladdin but it takes 2 more movies to actually marry him? So he wasn't married into royalty until movie #3

  • @djsyntic
    @djsyntic 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What I need explained more than this is Jafar's whole deal. What I mean is at the end he gets in this strange wish loop where he basically says 'I want Power, wait wait, now I want Power... Oh no you are right what I need to wish for is Power.' Okay I can understand that his first wish was for political power and his second wish was for magical power, and his third wish he was tricked into making... but that's just it...
    Jafar has been actively seeking the Lamp for years, and been putting some serious time and effort into learning about it. So he should have had 3 wishes already pre-planned out. So how in the world was he able to be tricked into making the specific third wish that he made? Surely he would have had a 3rd wish already in mind before. I've seriously got to wonder what he had in mind previously that he decided to abandon for the trick wish.
    Jafar's whole deal with the wishes just doesn't make sense to me considering how much thought he's put into the whole wish thing.

    2. in the 3rd movie he weds Jasmin making him a Prince

      Linguistically speaking, the second syllable in most two syllable words is going to contain an unstressed vowel, so regardless of whether it was an a, e, i, o, u, or y, it would be an unstressed vowel. So, while the Arabic is sool-tahn, the American English would be SUHL-tun, with the latter syllable containing an unstressed vowel (schwa).

    It's a little bit far-fetched. In the Arabian Nights, Al is a poor boy, who's dead father was a tailor, and lives with his mother. He was approached by a sorcerer that was claiming to be his uncle, tricking him into wandering into a magic cave and leaving him there to rot, but not without the aid of a magic ring that also releases a djinn when rubbed. The lamp is still in the story, but the main difference is that Aladdin has 2 Djinn at his beck and call.
    Pretty much, the moral of the story was to not put too much trust in strangers.

    Here's a conspiracy you'll have to tackle.
    After Jafar was beaten and Aladdin got the lamp back, there didn't have to be a conflict in what he should do. And the sultan didn't have to change the law. Jasmine could've just rubbed the lamp (making her the new master) and used the genie to make Aladdin a prince again. Then give it back to Aladdin and let him wish for genies freedom.
    Also, Aladdin wished for 2 things and then Jafar took over as the new master. Shouldn't he still be able to use his third wish at any time. Even though Jafar has the lamp? And if Aladdin does lose his last wish at that time, why don't his wishes start over when he becomes master again?

  • @JameZayer
    @JameZayer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The wish never entirely worked in the first place since he already was. His father was King of Thieves.
    Not to mention that Jafar technically "revoked" the wish.
