Kai leaking beomies number was lowkey hilarious😭😭 Kai is so cute. Let’s just remember to not send hate to Kai (lots of ppl were sending death threats the last couple days so☹️) because it was an accident and if Beomgyu isn’t angry at him for it, then we have no right to be. Honestly, the situation with the boycotts and the subsequent hate the idols receive if they don't follow them is ridiculous. It's not that I don't support the boycotts or condone what's going on in Israel, but why do you feel so entitled to assume that everyone in the world must know the same things you do and must see it through the same lens? How is one supposed to know about boycotts if one is not exposed to that type of information? In my part of the world, these boycotts are not reported on, the only reason I found out about them is because people started hating idols. Consider, therefore, the following:
    1) it's not the norm for people to be politically engaged and to follow current affairs, many people do not care for politics or events going on throughout the world
    2) what is the norm for like-minded people in your social circle might not be the norm for the society at large, especially in other countries
    3) different regions/countries have different news cycles - what you see on the news in country A might be completely different to what you see on the news in country B
    4) just because you are chronically online does not mean you know about everything - no one sees exactly the same stuff on their fyp, the algorithm caters to specifically your interests, so everyone is exposed to different things
I guess what I was trying to convey was to be kind and respectful and to have an understanding that people and cultures are not the same. Maybe it's the parasocial relationships so many fans develop that are to blame - you think you know them, you are friends with them, and thus you assume they are like you. If you want people to join your cause, I think you are much more likely to succeed if you politely explain what's going on and what they can do to help rather than immediately jumping to hate and shame.
    P. S. What I talked about applies to all manner of situations. Some causes are worthy but do not be so arrogant and entitled as to expect that everyone must care about the same things as you.

It makes me wish fans took a more level-headed approach to educating idols about world issues like that, instead of just blowing up at them for their mistakes. The amount of time we have in comparison to idols to be aware of what's going on in the world is monumental; just assume good faith and explain what's going on. Our priority should be to make ourselves happy, you can't expect people to do more than bare minimum. What I mean by this is that you can expect people to boycott Starbucks because drinking from Starbucks is harmful but I don't think it's ok to expect everyone to go out of their way to educate themselves on the topic and for example call them a bad person just because they didn't know. I believe that all you need to do is to not hurt people directly and doing more - looking up the news in this case - should be for "bonus points" if that makes sense.
I also find it a bit harsh what you said, just because someone doesn't want to think and read about war and other issues doesn't mean that they don't consider it objectively important. You can even be empathetic and selfish at the same time

Idols and privacy. Damn. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that people act the way they do and do the things they do that invade idols privacy. Seriously, what makes someone think that its okay to take an idol's... no, anyone's picture without their knowledge and in a damn CLINIC.
Also - the whole "proving" two idols/celebrities are dating will never stop being ridiculous. The reaches people make are honestly quite hilarious sometimes.
On another note - fans trying to make idols aware of certain things is fine. My problem with it is many kpop stans have a tendency to take things too far (as they do with EVERYTHING). (Note: I'm speaking in general, not just the situations with Jake or Somi.) I've watched people ask an influencer (Twitch streamer) to chime about Palestine instead of being silent. Guess what? They were able to do it in a rational and kind manner. If only (some) kpop stans could wrap their head around that concept.

It's so stupid really. If an Idol decided to donate 1 billion won to palestine, would it make a difference? No, it would not. If an idol drank from SB or McD, would it make a difference? No, it wouldn't either. If an idol decided to support Israel, it's their choice and their perspective. It makes them a horrible person since they are supporting israel, but its still their views. Even if an idol supported Palestine, it doesn't mean anything. Your support has no effect on palestine. What can an idol even do for either side? Nothing, because they have no control over it whatsoever. But its also STUPID to assume that anybody that drinks at McD or SB are pro-israel. Most people have eaten there before yet most are now pro-palestine!! It's also stupid how people are hating on idols for eating at it. Since when did they confirm which side their on?? Many are saying their 'bad' people for drinking/eating at it, yet their the ones who are sending death threats and hating on them. Just unstan them! If you send death threats or hate, you're no better than the idol.
Idols can choose who they support even if it makes them bad people. Their support does nothing and will never be able to do ANYTHING for palestine.

Stuff like this is why people SHOULD take kpop fans seriously. Obviously theres some that suck, but it's a good thing to want people you are financially supporting to not buy into corporations that support genocide.
Jake obviously didn't know about the boycott, people rushing to tell him that Starbucks supports Isreal and are being boycotted is now giving him an opportunity to be more informed (even looking to the other boycotts). They can't explain the whole situation in a comment section, he quite literally does have to be the one to educate himself on the issue. If he decides he doesn't care about the genocide and wants to keep supporting these corporations then people can also choose, for themselves, to not support him and his career.
Koreans were once (and not that long ago) enslaved by Japan and they are still scarred by those events and have yet to receive reparations, they know a little of what it's like to be in that situation and they know it requires the help of other nations and their people to save them from extermination.
It's one thing to simply not know about an issue. But Palestinians deserve life just like everyone else. If an idol doesn't agree with that statement than people will want to know so they can choose if it's worth continuing to support them or not.
And personally, if it was me, I would want people to warn me about supporting a company that supports genocide. Getting mad at people for informing him and telling him to look more into it is weird.

Regarding the Starbucks controversy as it applies to K-pop and Korea is general..... I'm aware that there has been some problematic behaviour with the company in the US but does anyone know if those issues reflect Starbucks internationally? Does anyone know how Starbucks operates internationally; i.e. are they franchised out to different companies with different policies internationally, are its US policies replicated internationally, have different countries' Starbucks taken different stances over certain issues? I ask this because if Starbucks in Korea is not problematic, is it then actually an issue for Korean celebrities to continue patronising / buying from them? Is it a case of US-centricism, where people in the US assume the rest of the world is like the US and/or shares its problems, or is it a case of Starbucks being a problem across the board internationally? I find that very hard to believe ; while that’s true that isn’t the case anymore for this the whole world is taking about Israels genocide against Palestine if you haven’t been paying attention to what’s happening you are just deliberately ignoring what’s going on and are choosing to be ignorant because since October 7th Koreans have been protesting in support of Palestine in Seoul in the busiest streets there; Korean university students have been handing out flyers educating people about Israel’s illegal occupation and the history of Palestine people often forget that Korea was also once under an illegal occupation by an imperial power (Imperial Japan) that barely faced any repercussions for the atrocities that they have committed Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity, no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories my family and ancestors also come from a colonized country Mexico. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. That excuse isn’t viable anymore because there is absolutely no people have not heard anything about Palestine or what Israel is doing

The problem is the hypocrisy. Starbucks suspended their operations in Russia following the Russian invasion. But when Israel murders 22 000, including 7000 children and injured 57 000 in just THREE months they do nothing. In comparison the death toll in Ukraine is 10 000 including 560 children in nearly TWO YEARs. Why won’t Starbucks close their cafes in Israel like they did in Russia? All in all, starbucks is generally an unethical company and other mega corporations. it’s better to support local and small cafes.
