The top 10 Classic Christmas Songs that I recognize and enjoy listening to are Winter Wonderland, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Jingle Bells, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Silent Night, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, The Twelve Days of Christmas, Joy to the World and White Christmas
Silver Bells is one of my personal favorites, mostly because it's always reminded me of my grandpa. Wish I got to spend more than one Christmas with him...
Not even a honorable mention for The Christmas Song or O Holy Night. The Christmas song tells a beautiful Christmas story and O Holy Night has beautiful lyrics and celebrates the night that Christ was born. Both are ICONIC
Nothing gives me a Christmas feeling like Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire). Anything with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra works as well, it's all about the classic versions for me. New Christmas songs, or recent versions of old songs don't work for me at all.
Nat King Cole like Bjn Crosby have what I call the Christmas voice it is a beautiful thing and chestnuts roasting on ipen fire is one of my all time favkirite Christmas songs.
Something about Nat's rendition had me sob tears of happiness. Just the fact his voice sounded so welcoming, as if he wanted to have a good holiday with you, always got me. You can never replace the legends that were as good as him
Lady Gaga's version was actually really good =) I love how it's all jazzy and she has an amazing voice outside all the auto-tune you hear in her pop music but yeah the original by Bing will always be the best but they included covers to show how legendary & popular these Christmas songs are every year
Deck. The. Halls. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WATCHMOJO? I know, we should be nicer this time of year, but get a grip! Also, 12 Days of Christmas was only a HM, while Little Freakin' Drummer Boy is on here? Come ON!

it's more of a modern Christmas song since it was released only 20 years ago they are doing a modern Christmas songs list tomorrow so definitely that song will be on the list for sure but I agree even though it's only been 20 years since it was released it sure is a classic...this entire classic Christmas songs list only included Christmas songs that were mostly released between the 1800's to 1950's
Makkesirjulf Malmgertyrfäddur yeah it definitely wasn't released in the fifties as the song was co-written and produced by Mariah Carey & producer/songwriter Walter Afanasieff the man responsible for co-writing a lot of Mariah's big hits in the 90's =)
My Top 10 Christmas Songs: 10) Mary, Did You Know 9) Emmanuel 8) What Child Is This 7) Joy To the World 6) The First Noel 5) Angels We Have Heard On High 4) Little Drummer Boy 3) Carol Of the Bells 2) Silent Night 1) O Holy Night Honorable mentions are: "Shiny Christmas" (which I wrote); "A Strange Way to Save the World" by 4HIM; "Jingle Bells" by SheDaisy; "Hark the Angels/Carol of the Bells Medley" by SheDaisy; and "Hope's Song" by VeggieTales.
Some more honorable mentions: Let It Snow (1945) I'll Be Home For Christmas (1943) Jingle Bell Rock (1957) Rockin Around The Christmas Tree (1958) The Christmas Song/Chesnuts Roasting On A Open Fire (1944) Up On The Housetop (1866)
Im not Christian : But my fav Christmas Chorals are 'We three Kings', 'Go tell it on the mountains" and 'when a child is Born.' Not the most popular but I love them
Here's my list: #10 - The Twelve Days Of Christmas #9 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town #8 - Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer #7 - Frosty The Snowman #6 - The First Noel #5 - Joy To The World #4 - Silent Night #3 - We Wish You A Merry Christmas #2 - Deck The Halls #1 - Jingle Bells
You should have let Daniel O'Donnell get a look-in with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. My favourite Christmas Song of all is this: You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall The most famous reindeer of all? Later, in the new Millennium, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was turned into a proper cartoon movie. Rudolph, while ridiculed by the other reindeer, finds respite and warmth from his best doe-friend Zoey. When cruel Sorceress Stormella captures Zoey, Rudolph learns how to use the bright red light of his nose and, with the aid of Leonard the Polar Bear and Slyly the Squirrel-rat, not only rescues Zoey but also saves the magic of Christmas for everyone. I have this story on DVD. It should be at the top of everyone's Christmas Wish List. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, sung at the end of the movie, should be at no. 1. No other song has ever surpassed its cheerfulness in the whole wide world.
The past few days, I've been kinda bummed out and not quite ready for the holidays. Watching this list lifted my spirits and officially got me in the Christmas Spirit again. Just wanted to let you guys know that. Thanks watchmojo.
1: Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby 2: Christmas Song by Nat King Cole 3: Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie 4: Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms 5: You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch by Thurl Ravenscroft 6: It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams 7: White Christmas by Bing Crosby 8: Christmas Eve by Tran Syberian Orchestra 9: Jingle Bells by Frank Sinatra 10: Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives
You know, this was probably one of the hardest lists you've had to write. Combining commercial songs AND carols! That was a toughie, and I think you got the list pretty spot on. Well done, and Merry Christmas :-)
Mine: 10: Rudolph the red nose reindeer 9:last Christmas 8:its beginning to look a lot like Christmas 7: frosty the snowman 6: all I want for Christmas is you 5: peanuts Christmas song 4: the grinch song( your a mean one mr grinch) 3:the grinch song that they sing around the Christmas tree 2: Christmas without you: 1: jingle bells These are my favorite Christmas songs
You forgot to mention... "Feliz Navidad, feliz navidad, feliz navidad. Prospero año y felicidad. I wanna wish you a merry crhistmas, I wanna wish you a merry christmas, I wanna wish you a merry christmas from the bottom of my heart" -Jose Feliciano lol
These songs remind me of growing up and seeing all the stores decorated. Clinton, Iowa put up a huge Christmas display in front of the swimming pool building.
There should be a list of songs that came from the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials: Snow/Heat Miser(YWASC), Misfits (Rudolph), You're a Mean One Mr.Grinch, Toy Maker to the King (Santa Claus is Coming to Town), etc
#10 is my top fave Christmas song ever! #6 is my mom's favorite. And the version with David Bowie and Bing Crosby is also a fave of mine. RIP David Bowie. It was just a little over a year since you left us. You will never be forgotten.
The cornier ones were ultimately chosen ie Rudolph, Frosty, etc. I feel like Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, O Holy Night and Joy to the World are legitimately great pieces of music.
Jingle bell rock, rockin around the Christmas tree...
At a Christmas party hop.
Isn't that technically modern not classic?
And band aid?
Christmas Fairy Tale in New York City, anyone?
I hear it enough times at work on the checkouts.
Everything you listed is on the Modern list-except Christmas Party Hop-Not on either list
also what about " Youre an mean one, Mr.Grinch" thats a classic. Who agrees
Not that "classic", it's not nearly as old as he majority of the songs on this list
I agree
Joey Vallejo 👍
I love that.
What about The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. How the hell did that not make this list?!
Yeah and somehow little drummer boy was?
NO, "I'll be Home For Christmas"? Now thats a true classic that really tugs at your heartstrings.
"It's the most wonderful time" is definitely the best
FaZe Temperrr I agree
FaZe Temperrr what about killing in the name
FaZe Temperrr z
No JINGLE BELL ROCK.

It's august but I have a urge to now download Christmas music and jam to it for people while driving around town
*while driving around town
3 more months and both of us aren't weird for listening christmas songs!
I have had Christmas carols in my head all day
44 more days until Christmas
Pumpkin! At The Disco (James Potter & Harley Quinn Are My Patronuses) that actually isn't that long tbh
Not even a honorable mention for The Christmas Song or O Holy Night. The Christmas song tells a beautiful Christmas story and O Holy Night has beautiful lyrics and celebrates the night that Christ was born. Both are ICONIC
And what about o little town of Bethlehem
How did "The Christmas Song" not even get a shoutout? Easily one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time!!
Good list! Though I am little surprised that O' Holy Night wasn't on this list (or Carol of the Bells)
Merry Christmas, WatchMojo!
My thoughts exactly
Oh the weather outside is frightful,
but the fire is so delightful
and since with no place to go

Nothing gives me a Christmas feeling like Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire). Anything with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra works as well, it's all about the classic versions for me. New Christmas songs, or recent versions of old songs don't work for me at all.
Yep.
Nat King Cole like Bjn Crosby have what I call the Christmas voice it is a beautiful thing and chestnuts roasting on ipen fire is one of my all time favkirite Christmas songs.
Charlie brown piano too
ZeppelinBigFan agreed and I also get in the spirit when I hear Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee 😬
Something about Nat's rendition had me sob tears of happiness. Just the fact his voice sounded so welcoming, as if he wanted to have a good holiday with you, always got me. You can never replace the legends that were as good as him
Thank you for the little history lessons behind these great songs. It's March, yet now I want to bust out all my Christmas DVD's!
You play these magical Christmas songs, but not the adaptations of the songs. Why would Lady Gaga be the reveal to White Christmas. She sounds awful.
Thank you.
Lady Gaga's version was actually really good =) I love how it's all jazzy and she has an amazing voice outside all the auto-tune you hear in her pop music but yeah the original by Bing will always be the best but they included covers to show how legendary & popular these Christmas songs are every year
Jeremy Dove Her version is unacceptable it is horrible.
She always sounds awful. Talentless hack.
morrius07 Agreed.
I reckon any Christmas song could be the #1 Christmas song.
It's November and I have my Christmas tree up

Not to mention that Angela Lansbury's version of White Christmas is good too in the Rankin/Bass special The First Christmas Snow.

it's more of a modern Christmas song since it was released only 20 years ago they are doing a modern Christmas songs list tomorrow so definitely that song will be on the list for sure but I agree even though it's only been 20 years since it was released it sure is a classic...this entire classic Christmas songs list only included Christmas songs that were mostly released between the 1800's to 1950's

You should have let Daniel O'Donnell get a look-in with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. My favourite Christmas Song of all is this:
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?
1. No "Carol of the Bells"?... My heart aches... but yeah it's not that famous, but I love it with all my hearth.
Yeah same

Happy Christmas (war is over) - John Lennon??? Where was that song? HAnds down best chrstmas song ever!
Santa claus is coming to town is one of my favorite song. And also like " someday at christmas"
There should be a list of songs that came from the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials: Snow/Heat Miser(YWASC), Misfits (Rudolph), You're a Mean One Mr.Grinch, Toy Maker to the King (Santa Claus is Coming to Town), etc
I’d love to see that

RIP David Bowie. It was just a little over a year since you left us. You will never be forgotten.
My favourite Christmas song has got to be 'Jingle Bells' because it's catchy and it was the first Christmas song I've ever heard.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh.
The cornier ones were ultimately chosen ie Rudolph, Frosty, etc. I feel like Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, O Holy Night and Joy to the World are legitimately great pieces of music.
Silent Night, Joy to the World, Jingle Bells either one of them would have been a fine number 1, I've never even heard of White Christmas.
Just you every body heard or it
