I think a more accurate durability test would be to test a phone against everyday situations such as, dropping it, sitting on it, scaping it against a surface, tread on it, splashing a bit of water in it, exposure to heat / sunlight. Smashing a phone with a hammer will ruin any device. Customers buy phones for every day use and should be able test the durability of a phone against evryday situations as opposed to deliberately smshing it.

I accidentally dropped my s6 from about waist hight when I was walking and although the screen protector was cracked I thought the actual phone would be fine, I took of the screen protector and there was the smallest, thinnest crack. I turned it on and... the LCD display was wierd colours where the impact was and part of my screen was black, throughout the day it got worse as the black spread across the screen until it stopped working. I took it to a repair shop to see what could be done and the repair costed more than getting an s6 second hand so I decided to just get a second hand one. I think that I might have dropped it above a small stone just big enough to damage the screen

I think that these things he's doing is completely not related to the average smartphone user. Does anyone, even hammer their phones? Does anyone, even boil their phones? All we really do to our phones is accidentally drop them and at most the screen cracks. So, I don't see the point of having these extreme tests. You know, they could have put that money to some good use (charity maybe) instead of spending money on something new and destroy it.
He's not trying to imitate people's use of the phone, he's hitting it with a hammer to show that even with a hammer, you have to hit it really hard to break the glass, AFTER THAT you can do the math yourself and go like "Oh well it takes a 2,5 pounds hammer and several hard hits to break the glass, it should resist everyday hazards pretty well"

I accidentally dropped my s6 from about waist hight when I was walking and although the screen protector was cracked I thought the actual phone would be fine, I took of the screen protector and there was the smallest, thinnest crack. I turned it on and... the LCD display was wierd colours where the impact was and part of my screen was black, throughout the day it got worse as the black spread across the screen until it stopped working. I took it to a repair shop to see what could be done and the repair costed more than getting an s6 second hand so I decided to just get a second hand one. I think that I might have dropped it above a small stone just big enough to damage the screen
