This right here is a really good tip... I tried something similar by saving the totem fragments in my inventory, but apparently it still counted towards your total number of fragments. So the real secret is to keep those Silve or Gold spheres for the occansional random fragment drop
Guys the game was designed to steal your money. If you will not pay for emeralds you will not receive any fragment. I spent few just to upgrade my VIP level a little just to do some x10 raids, but I will never purchase all of these login offers, or this season golden tickets. All are waste of your money. You will waste lots of money for useless things that has no real value. It is just a game that has no value and maybe will disappear tomorrow and never chase the ranks or your levels, you will see always you will lose in dungeons or in battles, because the game was developed always to make you eager to win and waste more money for useless upgrades and make the owners of the game rich. All the events the seasons, the guild wars and clash of worlds, the energy and the positions designed to make you chase the first rank and spend real money. It is dangerously addictive and it can cause financial loses. May will not be a casino but will make you to become obsessed like a casino.
I got my first totem opening the balls or with the first summon where they give u emeralds back. I got a lesser sphere from santa. I do spend on the game but don't care much for titans. I will do summons up to 4.5k emeralds to get another but the next tier up is too much for me. So i guess just once a year from santa or if blue balls give me one.
OOOOOHHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH THAT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE! I remember I just opened spheres and dropped my first totem fragment (it was fire) but then after I had spent my 4500th emeralds on it I did not get one and I was very confused but that clears it up a year later so thank you!
To sum it up: Buy ALL totem fragments for the price of a car, or NEVER buy ANY. I do the latter one. There a 1 Million better ways to spent so much money then a computer game. I just keep spending my 2 season / year with totem fragments and then I will have them all when I am an old man. :-)
Know this is old, but I used it and it 100% works. Needed 405k for my next totem, opened a season "free" totem... now reset to 283k instead of the 405k. Thanks for the insight.
No, it does not work. What you say could happen only if you had 2 fragments and got the third. It happened because the gap between the 3d and the 4th bad luck protection marks is much smaller than that between the 2nd and the 3d. Otherwise the number can only grow.

At this level, I need roughly 283,333 gems spent to guarantee the next drop...the number that you see in my original post are the difference between 4,250,000 --> 4,533,333 is the next one. So, yes it worked.

If you spend some more emeralds and let's say at 4400k emeralds spent have a totem drop , then your bad luck counter shifts to 4833k, and the difference becomes 433k. If you open a totem sphere now, your emerald counter would shift to 4533k, and your bad luck counter would shift further to 5133k. The difference would be 600k. So yes, it works, but to your detriment.
I bought the random element sphere when it came up. Opened it straight away 'coz my bad luck protection still needed over 300k emeralds for next fragment (confirmed with support)... not bad for $33 😁
Or if you are a spender trying to get totem fragments, just open the fragment and don't spend emeralds at the altar until the next season event that might have a fragment you can purchase to reset your bad luck protection.
I have been playing for over a year but have only gotten 1 green totem and can not get ANY other - it is really frustrating, especially facing groups with all of the others - not really all that fair in my book.
"By Chance" means you were just opening FREE (from your dailies, Special Event day 25, etc) Blue Balls and you got a fragment, randomly. Note, this does not happen often, in fact it is quite rare, but it DOES happen. "Bad Luck Protection" applies only to when you SPEND EMERALDS (usually 500E per 10 or 4500E per 100) on Blue Balls.

Do opening this ever get used in events? On time you said not to spend pet eggs or blue balls because an event was coming up. They have used eggs a few times but in 2 years I haven't seen opening blue balls as an event quest.
after my first free totem as a quest with 4500 emerald - 1 year and a half still have no second totem by opening countless speres day by day. And never spend money in a game or emeralds for to buy spheres. It is look like is too much distance between pay to win game users and the rest. If that is not change soon there is no sence to keep playing infinity game for most users who has difficulty to be usefull for our guilds in GW.
it might be obvious but I'm slightly confused by the chart at the end. i have spent emeralds to get the first two totems and was saving the big money blue balls. If i don't plan on spending to get anymore should I open the silver totem summoning sphere i just got at the end of the elemental season or continue to wait until i randomly pull one from the big money blue balls?

I've sent to 2 support requests, but every link takes you to a chat bot and at the end it states ... “Thank you for sharing your thoughts! bad luck protection is referring to getting a totem fragment by buying spheres with emeralds. If you open spheres that you just have in your inventory, that is by chance. Spending Emeralds? = bad luck protection Opening Free Spheres? = by chance
I have spent 3894933 emeralds on black ball and I have currently earth, fire and water totem maxed (18 fragments) + dark totem 3 stars & Light totem 3 stars. So 24 fragments in total while according to your table I should have only 14....??????????

You can get a totem from free spheres but the odds are around 1/1600 (been a long time, memory is foggy). I got 3 this way. Bad luck protection is determined by the number of totems you have and the amount of emeralds spent in total. Opening a totem sphere bumps your emeralds spent count to the bad luck protection number, if I recall correctly.
I won't spend above 4 WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. OF course, it matters otherwise why play i complain alot cause i cant spend like a cow some have spent enough to buy a house or a car.
It doesn't, and there's really not that many ways to get them. There're even fewer ways to get Titan Skins. No game ever has any benefit for ftp, unless you account for the money you are not wasting.

Instead; the general rule if you're gonna spend emeralds for fragments is that you should hold onto any titan artifact spheres and elemental spirit spheres you get from the beginning, until you first spend whatever amount of emeralds you're willing to use to get the first fragments, cuz it makes the cost of these fragments the lowest possible; to then use your spirit fragments and forget about using emeralds ever again. eg. I hold onto everything until I spend 460k emeralds (or fewer if l'm ucky), get my first 3 totems this way, not use any more emeralds since its too expensive from that point, and now use my spirit fragments to get the totems #4, #5, etc.
I don't understand why it's called 'bad luck protection'. Bad luck for whom? If you spend the emeralds you'll get a fragment and Nexter's gets paid. Nobody has bad luck there. Protection against what? If you're not spending you're not expecting to receive anything. There are no negatives in either situation.

Great stragety. But I think you should also open a stroed Fragment when you got one while buying with emeralds before you reached bad luck protection.
if you get one by buying with emeralds your numbers are all reset.

bad luck protection is referring to getting a totem fragment by buying spheres with emeralds. If you open spheres that you just have in your inventory, that is by chance.

I got 3 totems from free spheres. Odds are around 1/1600 but some events give us heaps of spheres (notably Winterfest).
in other words stop buying emeralds in this game, stop playing this game. get a job and buy a guitar, got it.
