My first was either FF1 or Dragon Warrior/Quest 1... God I'm aging myself.. first Tales was Symphonia. Loved it, so I went back and played the earlier ones after it.
My favourite will always be Vesperia. Although the story isn't the best in the series, the cast was so amazing. They're all so unique and lovable and the chemistry between them was magical. The only criticism I have is that the switching between voice actors can be somewhat jarring. If it wasn't for that, it would be my favourite game ever.
if you are complaining about the second VA for "her" part don't even think to touch the Rays or any crossover plot with Yuri in it BEFORE you get the story right. Troy will thank all gods he has nothing to do with DE at all.
I think it's the best because of the darker tone for the main hero. It's one of the very few JRPGS with a dark and authentic hero, who even murders people. I loved it so much. Gameplay wise it's not the best, the main plot is a little lame, but man, those characters.

No Tales of Eternia?(Destiny 2 in the US) Eternia is a amazing game. Legendia is good, but not a number 1 for me. Eternia is my top, Destiny also needs to be on the list.

Vesperia is my first entry into the Tales Series. Awesome character, great battle system, solid graphics and a pretty decent storyline! I love it! Can’t wait to check out other titles!
Pleasantly surprised to see Legendia get some love as your number 1. :) It has such a underrated story and cast. In fact, they are probably the most bonded cast with a lot of chemistry.
The first Tales of game I've played was Tales of Eternia. I still remember the joy me and my friend had when we finally figured out the melnics language (in a time with no access to the internet). I've played most Tales of games that came after, but none of them came close to the fun I had with Tales of Eternia. Tales of Legendia, though, is pretty good and is number 2 for me.

I really liked Legendia, too. The beautiful world, the character dynamics, the fuzzy beavers whom I wanted to roast on a spit--all wrapped up in a wonderful story. The second time I played it, I managed to get through the second half--you know, the one with very little voice acting and you don't go anywhere new expect for the very end.
A very unique list, I don't agree with the order but it's nice to see a breath of fresh air when it comes to your favorite tales games. Most people put the holy trinity (Symphonia, Vesperia and Abyss) in their top 3 but you didn't even have one of them. My personal favorite is Tales of the Abyss. I've only played the 3DS version but the story is the best in the franchise and Luke goes through the biggest development I've seen a MC go thorough in a JRPG
Abyss is my current favorite but Berseria was very very close to overthrowing it Symphonia is tied in fourth with Xilla 1&2 Vesperia(the original or Defintive Edition) is probably never going to be played by me. @Weston Meyer Is there a specific reason, why you like the jerk version of Luke? It just seems a bit weird, but to each their own, I guess. But Abyss is definitely my favorite game of all time. Very closely on top of FE 9 Path of Radiance and Radiant Historia. And I love Luke and Emil, because they are my precious sons and I love them. But actually, i can see why you wouldn't like the shorthaired Luke. Later on, especially the last Arc, he was just moping all the time. I think someone needs to get that kid out of his depression! And the best character ever is and always will be Jade Curtiss. This man is awesome! And he's the biggest troll in the franchise, together with Yuri from Vesperia. But yeah, Tear is awesome. She's so pretty. Also her and Luke make the best couple ever. But seriously, Luke needs to get out of his depression.
@Weston Meyer I also liked bratty Luke, and wished that there was a New Game Plus option to keep him with his long hair (which I just liked better than his short haired character model), and get the party together by kicking their ass for abandoning him when they knew that he had no control over the action that drove them to abandon him in what was basically Hell, had no reason to trust them over his beloved surrogate father (who was also the only person to treat him with anything even remotely resembling respect, except for arguably Guy, who was secretly working alongside said father figure at that point and probably wouldn't have tried to stop Like from listening to him with the incomplete knowledge everyone had at the time, and Ion, who had followed Van's instructions as well and admitted that he was at least as much to blame as Luke for Akzeriuth, though everyone else just brushed that aside to continue blaming only Luke), and that several party members had vital information that could have caused him to distrust Van, but chose not to tell him because reasons. Besides, I really liked the way that his brash and snippy personality contrasted with his genuine good intentions, and, even when he was a brat, I loved that he was one of the few -JRPG- video game protagonists with an actual problem with killing people, and that he never actually gets over it. I think the way they revealed it with a cutscene was a lot more impactful than Estelle's admittedly hilarious "Well, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and kill monsters and then build graves for them all when I get back home" skit in Vesperia. That being said, Natalia and Guy both knew Luke for about as long as they knew Asch, and much more recently, in addition to the fact that Luke was essentially a seven year old with the life experience of a toddler, and didn't partake in any massacres or attempted murder-by-proxies that they were aware of. As for Jade, I liked him well enough, although I admit that he could be grating. He's not my favorite Tales Troll (I think that Berseria's Magilou is my current favorite), but I did like the fact that he was being played as a genuine sociopath who had gained people he genuinely cares about as much as he's able to, and is hanging around the party to try and undo all the damage that he deliberately and accidentally caused to said loved ones (and the world in general) by inventing fomicry, while also taking the opportunity to try to figure out how to be an actual person by observing a Replica.
@Weston Meyer Ah, thanks for the information. It's been a long time, since I last played the game, so my memory is not that good. I actually liked all of the characters, because everyone was kinda cool in their own way. But I can see, that not everyone would like these characters. And the thing with Luke is: He is actually a seven year old child, that had to learn everything important in these 7 years. And I guess you're right that he might not be relatable for a real person. But if you think about it, the reason he changed so drastically was mainly because he realized he did some real bullshit. He also learned that his "master", to whom he looked up to, just created him as a substitute for his original, so he could die in Asch's place. I think that actually makes him even less relatable, because he isn't completely broken on the inside. He should be torn apart inside, because he just found out, that his entire life was a lie. Also I really hated Asch. This guy was the biggest jerk ever, even though nothing that happened was his replicas fault in the first place. And he's ten years older then Luke! And also how could we forget mohs. God, every time he appeared, I just wanted Jade to roast his ass. And punch him in the face! I seriously hated this unimportant side character way more than Asch. And asch is a jerk! But I kinda agree with you. At least your points make really good sense. Not like some other people, I see sometimes.
Tales of grace f is my fav. People complain about how difficult the battle mechanics are but I guess I figured it out pretty easily and I love how once you figure it out, it has such smooth hi speed combat and I love its corny story from childhood to the end

@@JakeRandall No, they aren't. In English relese they named Tales of Eternia - Tales of Destiny 2, but after that REAL Tales of Destiny 2 came out. Only in Japan. Tales of Destiny 2 main protagonist is Stan's son.

For me tales of the Abyss is my number 1 tales game. It just to great and just love how it is. The characters, the story, and to the music just brought me to a magical time. Even now ia one of my favorite games of all time.

Your list is definitely waay different from mine. I'll only put 5 below but I personally like: 1. Vesperia 2. Symphonia 1 3. Abyss 4. Xillia 1 5. Xillia 2 6th would definitely be Berseria. I've played every game on this list but our viewpoints are a little different but still. I love Tales games and so do you so it's all good!
The only Tales game I've ever played enough (completed main story) is Graces so I can't actually rank it. I really like the story and its characters (especially Sophie and Pascal). It really took me lot's of time to get along with the battle system but I have never mastered it so I think there are enough tricks I could use to have it easier. Additionally I own the PS3 collection with Xillia 1 & 2 but only tried it out. I also bought Zestiria last week when it was on sale at the Playstation store but haven't touched it yet. I have watched the first season of the anime, liked it and used the opportunity to get it cheap but can't say anything.
just finished dragonquest 11 and am moving on to vesperia def now, just got the first town with the soil that is contaminated or something? im finding it hard to decide to go to with manual or semi auto combat, but i can allready tell this is going to be something special. its going to have to be after how great dq 11 was :)

Great video! Tales of symphonia was my first tales of game and it completely blow my face off with its unforgettable story and characters and made me fall in love with the combat system it had going on. That is, until i played Tales of Graces, the only reason why i still have my ps3.
The nostalgia factor is strong... But I'm right there with you. Symphonia was my first and still my favourite. It doesn't have the strongest cast of characters imo (Yuri Lowell for president), but the story's among my favourites. I'd say: 1. Symphonia 2. Vesperia 3. Berseria 4. Abyss 5. Eternia Arise is looking promising. Here's hoping they nail it

I remember about 13 years ago when I was in grade 10. Liking anime and jrpgs made you extremely weird so I didn't talk about the games, except to one other guy in my shop class who was a fan of the tales games. I told him my favourite was Phantasia, and that it was my introduction to the series. He told me that your first Tales is always your favourite.... wise words indeed.

I need opinions guys! I tried playing tales of symphonia some time ago and I got REALLY annoyed how the characters are all typical stereotypes (the shy blonde girl, the wannabe hero main character, typical "cool" old man etc.) And the dialogues / skits were focusing too much on the typical japanese politeness+shyness (like someone blushes for 2 minutes because their surname was mentioned or someone stands 1 metre too close...) And I can btw smell the plot twist from MILES away (the religion of the girl probably ends up a lie etc.. typical japanese again) So I wanted to ask you guys - will it improve with the other tales of games? Or is this series more for the dudes that love these stereotypes to death and sleep with their waifu dakimakura? Edit: I love jrpgs like final fantasy, trails in the sky and persona/shin megami tensei - so no hate against jrpgs in general but I really hate these never ending anime stereotypes
Symphonia, however good or bad it might be to some people, is overrated. Didn't mind including it on my video because I actually liked it, but that doesn't mean the criticism you pointed out is wrong. I agree with you. I see nothing outstanding in that game, seriously.
I recommend Tales of the Abyss. The story has fascinating delirious twists and the characters, still and being a bit cliche, grow well. I recommend patience with the plot, the thing does not develop as it seems and it is worth continuing (although you hate the stupid protagonist).
Tales of Xillia 1 actually has great characters and an interesting story. Even the bad guys are likeable and you can relate to them. Plus it has one of the funniest skits ever ("Teach me about Bazongas" lol)

So far, I've played through 5 Tales of games. I played them in this order Vesperia, Symphonia, DotNW, Xillia, and Hearts R. Xillia is my favorite so far. I can't wait to play the sequel, just need to find time to do so.
I've always been interested in the tales series because of the fast real time combat, but I have only beaten legendia. I'm surprised to find someone else who liked it best!
Nice list! I am glad you made it based on your real experiences rather than what most fans say "should be the best." I have been playing this series since Tales of Destiny 2 on PS1, and for some strange, terrible reason, I have yet to beat a Tales game despite playing about half of them. Trying to remedy that with Tales of Vesperia now. My favorite entry from what I have played, though definitely gonna have to turn up the difficulty and give Berseria anothet go.
Symphonia was my favorite. It holds some nostalgia though, due to the fact it's the first one I played from begging to end (I did play the ones on ps1 and ps2 as well). My top 3 I'd say would be Symphonia, Vesperia, then followed by Berseria, with Grace being close to it. I had a lot of fun though with the others (and even did the platinum on a few of the other ones like Xillia) it's a really good series of games overall.

I enjoyed it so much back on the Wii, while it may have been an easy and shorter game I enjoyed seeing what all the cast was up to, how they make you question the first game, and the growth Emil goes through! Yes! Legendia was my first ever tales game i remember buying it in the clearance section for $2. Boy im glad it was under priced this game is so beautiful I love the characters, story, and the ost. What I do to play this game again. I miss it so much
for tales of the abyss on the 3ds it is almost the same you just can't play on multiplayer. The loadscreen are also faster. for tales phantasia on gba, it was the first version i played so i really liked it, it's a mixed of the nes and the ps1 versions
It's been awhile since I last played it but Xilia was my favorite for awhile. Never got to play 2 because I no longer have my PS3. I really hope Bandai remaster both of them on the PS4/5.

I first collected the Tales series back with Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 at EB Games when I was 16. I also have Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS and I'm loving it so far. My favourite Tales of game is ALL OF THEM!!!!! One more thing my favourite genre is both Japanese Rpgs and Westernised Rpgs.
I also think I would recommend Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS even if it has lower graphics and downgraded from the PS2 but it is still really good on 3DS. It also has 3D qualities so you can turn the 3D on and off.
Good video. I don’t really have a solid opinion on the Tales series since the only ones I’ve played are Abyss and Vesperia. However I was quite pleased with them both and am going to get the definitive edition of Vesperia when I can.
My personal list from my own experience is Xillia 1 in the first spot, mostly because it was my first tales game and it left the biggest impression on me and what to expect. Abyss I'd my second favorite one in the series, but I can definitely admit that it's a better game overall then Xillia, but I played Xillia first so bias :p. 3rd favorite game would probably be Grace's because the battle system is just very clean and though it's very exploitable, it takes a tremendous amount of skill which I don't have lol, but I just loved how you had to think about when to start or stop your combo, where as in other games, you just stop when you can't do any more typically. Fourth favorite is Xillia 2 because of things like the character side storys to give more development to the characters that I loved in Xillia living or dead, and it also gave me a more satisfying feeling then Symphonia 2 for example when seeing the world grow. Last but not least is Symphonia, and it's not really on the list on it's own merits, but that recently I played the game with a friend and we did a whole lot of funny stuff, and I may or may not have gotten soft locked for doing a glitch XD. Symphonia is an ok game, not great, not bad, just average by today's standards. The last 2 games I've played that didn't make it on to the list are zestiria cause it just failed to exceed expectations, and the only character I liked was Edna, shocker I know. Other game was Symphonia 2 and the reasons I don't like it are the main reasons most people don't like the game. Since Vesparia came out, I might play that soon,and hey, it might he on my new list idk. Also last little bit before I'm done, I played abyss on the 3ds and my experience with it was fine, very easy to get into since the controls for Ds are similar to other tales games controls like Xillia for example. Unless you don't like the shorter screen,have the game already, or namco reduced the fps for this port(wouldn't surprise me lol) you should pick it up

I'm fairly new to tales, i really wanna experience as many of them as I can to make my own list. I really don't know which one I like and which one I don't. I have berseria, zestiria, arise and vesperia. Not gonna play arise until I finish the others, honestly it's very overwhelming shouldn't have bought them all at once
I will go with my top 5 which is: 5. ToLegendia - amazing game, very underated, so happy to see it here 4. ToAbyss - great story, Guy :) 3. ToVesperia - great cast, good story, Yuri is amazing 2. ToBerseria - battle system, Eizen, story 1. ToEternia - my first Tales, i love Reid and Keele and everything they went through, combat is fun and Max is just ultimate badass with his cannon, love this game
I haven't already played it all (but i have almost all) and my personal top from best to "worse" is: Vesperia, Symphonia Chronicles, Abyss, Legendia, Xillia 1 and 2. Not the i didn't like the Xillia duo (specially the story is good) but i don't like much the change in the map with thoose openworld-like area not very inspirated and all very similar (and that make lose in characterization for me), full of monsters that you can too easilly avoid if you want that makes me think i'm the one who had to go on my own initiativeve and fight and not like i have to fight them because they attack me...not sure i can explain myself there ^^'

I really liked Graces F also, I have a feeling the real gems are the non translated ones and its damn shame. You should play the ones you missed if you ever get the chance Abyss,Legendia and Hearts all have some really good parts to them. Destiny not so much the story is really unique, but it didn't age to well and in some ways feels even more retro then Phantasia somehow haha. The remastered version however looks fricken amazing along with its sequel and its sad we never got them over here along with the other non translated games.

the fact that tales of legendia was the first tales game i played made it even more memorable for me. thanks for making it as your fave one too since i think it's fairly underrated

The first Tales of game I've played was Tales of Eternia. I still remember the joy me and my friend had when we finally figured out the melnics language (in a time with no access to the internet). I've played most Tales of games that came after, but none of them came close to the fun I had with Tales of Eternia. Tales of Legendia, though, is pretty good and is number 2 for me.
Legendia is the 4th tales game i played and probably my favorite rpg

I really liked Legendia, too. The beautiful world, the character dynamics, the fuzzy beavers whom I wanted to roast on a spit--all wrapped up in a wonderful story. The second time I played it, I managed to get through the second half--you know, the one with very little voice acting and you don't go anywhere new expect for the very end.

A very unique list, I don't agree with the order but it's nice to see a breath of fresh air when it comes to your favorite tales games.
Most people put the holy trinity (Symphonia, Vesperia and Abyss) in their top 3 but you didn't even have one of them. My personal favorite is Tales of the Abyss. I've only played the 3DS version but the story is the best in the franchise and Luke goes through the biggest development I've seen a MC go thorough in a JRPG
I hated Luke at first. He was a whiny bitch. But later on I liked him.
I also like that the game fools you into thinking it is over but it keeps going

@Weston Meyer Is there a specific reason, why you like the jerk version of Luke? It just seems a bit weird, but to each their own, I guess. But Abyss is definitely my favorite game of all time. Very closely on top of FE 9 Path of Radiance and Radiant Historia. And I love Luke and Emil, because they are my precious sons and I love them. But actually, i can see why you wouldn't like the shorthaired Luke. Later on, especially the last Arc, he was just moping all the time. I think someone needs to get that kid out of his depression! And the best character ever is and always will be Jade Curtiss. This man is awesome! And he's the biggest troll in the franchise, together with Yuri from Vesperia. But yeah, Tear is awesome. She's so pretty. Also her and Luke make the best couple ever. But seriously, Luke needs to get out of his depression.

I also liked bratty Luke, and wished that there was a New Game Plus option to keep him with his long hair (which I just liked better than his short haired character model), and get the party together by kicking their ass for abandoning him when they knew that he had no control over the action that drove them to abandon him in what was basically Hell, had no reason to trust them over his beloved surrogate father (who was also the only person to treat him with anything even remotely resembling respect, except for arguably Guy, who was secretly working alongside said father figure at that point and probably wouldn't have tried to stop Like from listening to him with the incomplete knowledge everyone had at the time, and Ion, who had followed Van's instructions as well and admitted that he was at least as much to blame as Luke for Akzeriuth, though everyone else just brushed that aside to continue blaming only Luke), and that several party members had vital information that could have caused him to distrust Van, but chose not to tell him because reasons.
Besides, I really liked the way that his brash and snippy personality contrasted with his genuine good intentions, and, even when he was a brat, I loved that he was one of the few -JRPG- video game protagonists with an actual problem with killing people, and that he never actually gets over it. I think the way they revealed it with a cutscene was a lot more impactful than Estelle's admittedly hilarious "Well, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and kill monsters and then build graves for them all when I get back home" skit in Vesperia.
That being said, Natalia and Guy both knew Luke for about as long as they knew Asch, and much more recently, in addition to the fact that Luke was essentially a seven year old with the life experience of a toddler, and didn't partake in any massacres or attempted murder-by-proxies that they were aware of.
As for Jade, I liked him well enough, although I admit that he could be grating. He's not my favorite Tales Troll (I think that Berseria's Magilou is my current favorite), but I did like the fact that he was being played as a genuine sociopath who had gained people he genuinely cares about as much as he's able to, and is hanging around the party to try and undo all the damage that he deliberately and accidentally caused to said loved ones (and the world in general) by inventing fomicry, while also taking the opportunity to try to figure out how to be an actual person by observing a Replica.
@Weston Meyer Ah, thanks for the information. It's been a long time, since I last played the game, so my memory is not that good. I actually liked all of the characters, because everyone was kinda cool in their own way. But I can see, that not everyone would like these characters. And the thing with Luke is: He is actually a seven year old child, that had to learn everything important in these 7 years. And I guess you're right that he might not be relatable for a real person. But if you think about it, the reason he changed so drastically was mainly because he realized he did some real bullshit. He also learned that his "master", to whom he looked up to, just created him as a substitute for his original, so he could die in Asch's place. I think that actually makes him even less relatable, because he isn't completely broken on the inside. He should be torn apart inside, because he just found out, that his entire life was a lie. Also I really hated Asch. This guy was the biggest jerk ever, even though nothing that happened was his replicas fault in the first place. And he's ten years older then Luke! And also how could we forget mohs. God, every time he appeared, I just wanted Jade to roast his ass. And punch him in the face! I seriously hated this unimportant side character way more than Asch. And asch is a jerk! But I kinda agree with you. At least your points make really good sense. Not like some other people, I see sometimes.
Tales of grace f is my fav.
People complain about how difficult the battle mechanics are but I guess I figured it out pretty easily and I love how once you figure it out, it has such smooth hi speed combat and I love its corny story from childhood to the end

For me tales of the Abyss is my number 1 tales game. It just to great and just love how it is. The characters, the story, and to the music just brought me to a magical time. Even now ia one of my favorite games of all time.

The only Tales game I've ever played enough (completed main story) is Graces so I can't actually rank it. I really like the story and its characters (especially Sophie and Pascal). It really took me lot's of time to get along with the battle system but I have never mastered it so I think there are enough tricks I could use to have it easier.
Additionally I own the PS3 collection with Xillia 1 & 2 but only tried it out. I also bought Zestiria last week when it was on sale at the Playstation store but haven't touched it yet. I have watched the first season of the anime, liked it and used the opportunity to get it cheap but can't say anything.
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology was my all time favorite. The 2md and third were really good too.
Tales of Destiny for psone is my favorite. The story twist blew my mind. Loved the game.

Tales of symphonia was my first tales of game and it completely blow my face off with its unforgettable story and characters and made me fall in love with the combat system it had going on.
That is, until i played Tales of Graces, the only reason why i still have my ps3.
The nostalgia factor is strong... But I'm right there with you. Symphonia was my first and still my favourite. It doesn't have the strongest cast of characters imo (Yuri Lowell for president), but the story's among my favourites. I'd say:

I remember about 13 years ago when I was in grade 10. Liking anime and jrpgs made you extremely weird so I didn't talk about the games, except to one other guy in my shop class who was a fan of the tales games. I told him my favourite was Phantasia, and that it was my introduction to the series. He told me that your first Tales is always your favourite.... wise words indeed.

I need opinions guys! I tried playing tales of symphonia some time ago and I got REALLY annoyed how the characters are all typical stereotypes (the shy blonde girl, the wannabe hero main character, typical "cool" old man etc.) And the dialogues / skits were focusing too much on the typical japanese politeness+shyness (like someone blushes for 2 minutes because their surname was mentioned or someone stands 1 metre too close...)
And I can btw smell the plot twist from MILES away (the religion of the girl probably ends up a lie etc.. typical japanese again)
So I wanted to ask you guys - will it improve with the other tales of games? Or is this series more for the dudes that love these stereotypes to death and sleep with their waifu dakimakura?
Edit: I love jrpgs like final fantasy, trails in the sky and persona/shin megami tensei - so no hate against jrpgs in general but I really hate these never ending anime stereotypes
Symphonia, however good or bad it might be to some people, is overrated. Didn't mind including it on my video because I actually liked it, but that doesn't mean the criticism you pointed out is wrong. I agree with you. I see nothing outstanding in that game, seriously.
I recommend Tales of the Abyss. The story has fascinating delirious twists and the characters, still and being a bit cliche, grow well.
I recommend patience with the plot, the thing does not develop as it seems and it is worth continuing (although you hate the stupid protagonist).

Tales of Xillia 1 actually has great characters and an interesting story. Even the bad guys are likeable and you can relate to them.
Plus it has one of the funniest skits ever ("Teach me about Bazongas" lol)

So far, I've played through 5 Tales of games. I played them in this order Vesperia, Symphonia, DotNW, Xillia, and Hearts R. Xillia is my favorite so far. I can't wait to play the sequel, just need to find time to do so.
I've always been interested in the tales series because of the fast real time combat, but I have only beaten legendia. I'm surprised to find someone else who liked it best!
Nice list! I am glad you made it based on your real experiences rather than what most fans say "should be the best." I have been playing this series since Tales of Destiny 2 on PS1, and for some strange, terrible reason, I have yet to beat a Tales game despite playing about half of them. Trying to remedy that with Tales of Vesperia now. My favorite entry from what I have played, though definitely gonna have to turn up the difficulty and give Berseria anothet go.
Symphonia was my favorite. It holds some nostalgia though, due to the fact it's the first one I played from begging to end (I did play the ones on ps1 and ps2 as well).
My top 3 I'd say would be Symphonia, Vesperia, then followed by Berseria, with Grace being close to it. I had a lot of fun though with the others (and even did the platinum on a few of the other ones like Xillia) it's a really good series of games overall.

Vasperia is my favorite. After playing many tales game, no main character can match Yuri greatness.
The Tales series is one of my top 5 game series, I can't wait for the next one. Tales of Destiny was my first introduction to the series and I've played every single one that's been released in Canada.
I didn't like takes of graces story but I loved it's battle system.
That kept me going to finish the game.

for tales phantasia on gba, it was the first version i played so i really liked it, it's a mixed of the nes and the ps1 versions
It's been awhile since I last played it but Xilia was my favorite for awhile. Never got to play 2 because I no longer have my PS3. I really hope Bandai remaster both of them on the PS4/5.
Hi Erick I just subscribed to your channel and I love watching your videos. My name is Riley and I am from Australia. I first collected the Tales series back with Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 at EB Games when I was 16. I also have Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS and I'm loving it so far. My favourite Tales of game is ALL OF THEM!!!!! One more thing my favourite genre is both Japanese Rpgs and Westernised Rpgs.
I also think I would recommend Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS even if it has lower graphics and downgraded from the PS2 but it is still really good on 3DS. It also has 3D qualities so you can turn the 3D on and off.

Good video. I don’t really have a solid opinion on the Tales series since the only ones I’ve played are Abyss and Vesperia. However I was quite pleased with them both and am going to get the definitive edition of Vesperia when I can.

My personal list from my own experience is Xillia 1 in the first spot, mostly because it was my first tales game and it left the biggest impression on me and what to expect. Abyss I'd my second favorite one in the series, but I can definitely admit that it's a better game overall then Xillia, but I played Xillia first so bias :p. 3rd favorite game would probably be Grace's because the battle system is just very clean and though it's very exploitable, it takes a tremendous amount of skill which I don't have lol, but I just loved how you had to think about when to start or stop your combo, where as in other games, you just stop when you can't do any more typically. Fourth favorite is Xillia 2 because of things like the character side storys to give more development to the characters that I loved in Xillia living or dead, and it also gave me a more satisfying feeling then Symphonia 2 for example when seeing the world grow. Last but not least is Symphonia, and it's not really on the list on it's own merits, but that recently I played the game with a friend and we did a whole lot of funny stuff, and I may or may not have gotten soft locked for doing a glitch XD. Symphonia is an ok game, not great, not bad, just average by today's standards. The last 2 games I've played that didn't make it on to the list are zestiria cause it just failed to exceed expectations, and the only character I liked was Edna, shocker I know. Other game was Symphonia 2 and the reasons I don't like it are the main reasons most people don't like the game. Since Vesparia came out, I might play that soon,and hey, it might he on my new list idk. Also last little bit before I'm done, I played abyss on the 3ds and my experience with it was fine, very easy to get into since the controls for Ds are similar to other tales games controls like Xillia for example. Unless you don't like the shorter screen,have the game already, or namco reduced the fps for this port(wouldn't surprise me lol) you should pick it up

I have berseria, zestiria, arise and vesperia. Not gonna play arise until I finish the others, honestly it's very overwhelming shouldn't have bought them all at once
I will go with my top 5 which is:
5. ToLegendia - amazing game, very underated, so happy to see it here
4. ToAbyss - great story, Guy :)

I haven't already played it all (but i have almost all) and my personal top from best to "worse" is: Vesperia, Symphonia Chronicles, Abyss, Legendia, Xillia 1 and 2. Not the i didn't like the Xillia duo (specially the story is good) but i don't like much the change in the map with thoose openworld-like area not very inspirated and all very similar (and that make lose in characterization for me), full of monsters that you can too easilly avoid if you want that makes me think i'm the one who had to go on my own initiativeve and fight and not like i have to fight them because they attack me...not sure i can explain myself there ^^'
P.S. best character of the series is without any doubt Norma Beatty!!!
My first tales of game was surprisingly tales of berseria. And I loved it!. After that I played zestiria then vesperia and then the xillia duology. I've seen the anime of tales of the abyss and phantasia but haven't played them.

I really liked Graces F also, I have a feeling the real gems are the non translated ones and its damn shame. You should play the ones you missed if you ever get the chance Abyss,Legendia and Hearts all have some really good parts to them. Destiny not so much the story is really unique, but it didn't age to well and in some ways feels even more retro then Phantasia somehow haha. The remastered version however looks fricken amazing along with its sequel and its sad we never got them over here along with the other non translated games.
