I have the same stove for motorcycle camping. It works great and makes up for its weight by using twigs as fuel and providing a usb charger. It also came with a press pot for coffee and a grill attachment that actually works. I used it for weeks in the desert and mountains and enjoyed using it. Boils water in 3 minutes.
I have waited several years to purchase this stove. I finally found a great deal on the Biolite Campstove2 Bundle. I watched your two videos to get ready for my first burn. Thanks for the tutorial and the safety tips.
Have been using this camp stove for over a year. I absolutely love it. Also have one of Biolite's solar panels. Lived off grid for sometime. Worth the investment.
This brand I'd going to grow crazy I think! We all use hwat n also need it! In return we get decent electricity from it! That being said I see alot bigger scales of this coming! Could you imagine a wood furnace or just a wood stove that you could hook up to your. Battery bank! I see so many possibilities I'd love to be a part of future designs 😊

Sorry for talking later about things not directly tied to this product. I like the idea about the project, and i think it a decent alternative for simply boiling water or lighter cooking. It is a pretty poor power generator. To charge a phone it is alot of work that said. it will do it if you let it grind and support it with tiny twigs. but it is several hours with a normal modern phone. I like the idea, but it is not quite to par with the modern phones charging abilities. It needs more power generation, i would say about 15w or more. I soldered together a peltier generator myself that i screwed onto a big aluminium heatsink. 12 cheap chinesium peltiers. 3x4 serial/paralell. = I use tempdiff 80 degrees as base, That is 9,5W with some smart design. for about 20 euros worth, and better conductors and TEG´s i am sure trippling this is possible quite easily. Consider serialing/paralleling these for the purpose of charging heavier batteries 12/24/48v when cooking in the wood stove. In winter months you keep the fire going 24/7 Summer basically 4+ hours a day, add solar to complete and you have a good base for power generation.
There,s a reason why i got A Biolite CS2 instead of a gas stove (Or a solo stove)... It just always works... I have used it in +32°c to - 29°c In the rain and in a snowstorm...It uses less than 1/10th of the fuel that a campfire would use...A gas stove (Jetboil) isnt going to work reliably at -32°c... And you can,t move a Solo stove while its running...
Ok...a video about the stove function...but not a single word about it's main selling point: the generating electricity part. I would have wanted to know how long it takes for example to generate enough electricity to fully charge a smart phone. THAT would have been the single interesting thing about a review of this product. Cause if i merely want a stove to cook water in above a fire, i'll just use a steel can, cut a hole into it, effectively turning it into a mini-chimney, burn twings in it and put another can on top of it for the water to boil in - best of it all: that way i only pay for whatever food was in the cans and get the stove and water vessel basically for free 😏
Well, the plan was to make a part about that as well. Part 2 will come. I got the measuring equipment now to make a good review of it. My mistake ordering it from eBay. It took several months for it to ship to me. Have an amazing week.
Finally the Part 2 of the Biolite Stove about the charging capabilities is coming out now on Saturday. Subscribe and hit that notification bell 🛎 so you don't miss it.
There are plenty of ways to make a fire or a stove to boil water. However the point of this stove is to provide electricity, unfortunately you didn't do that. You just showed us a stove that can boil water. Cheers.
There are a lot of reviews out there showing it out of the other perspective. I think this product is best used by using it as a clean burning stove. I will do a followup on this review when I get back out in the forrest and show the truth about the charging capabilities of this product. Have an amazing Thursday man.
You are lucky Stephen! Part 2 about the charging capabilities of the Biolite stove is coming out now on Saturday. It will be better then the other reviews out there. I will talk about exactly how it works and how good it is. Subscribe and hit that notification bell 🛎 so you don't miss it.
As a fire stove, it is pathetic. It could work for ideal situations, but let's be real, what are the odds of that, as a camper you will know. You can't keep it feeding little twigs, it needs to be robust to burn on wood. I am more interested in the electricity part, how does it compare to solar cells or little stream generators.
Im going to return mine. Living in a wet part of the world this thing is super unreliable. Both times I took it out I ended up just making a fire with wet wood and cooking on it. Great toy but not much of a tool if you have to depend on it
I would say that no woodburning stove is good to burn with wet wood. I would not depend on one system either. You can see in a earlier video on the channel all systems I use. But for charging my phone in the field I use this unit and a small solar panel. Have an amazing weekend man!
@@offgridsweden i made an open fire with wet wood both times i tried to use this. A fire box or something like that would work fine with wetish wood. That plus the size to lug around made me send it back. It's a fun toy but not a reliable tool imo. Hope it suits your needs, just didn't suit mine
It's so bulky and tall. Don't like that and I see how easy it was to spill water inside and put the fire out. You didn't charge anything but you'd have to sit for 2 hours and feed the fire to charge the unit. Not really very thought out. Plus the pot was black and the fan was black. Soiled and nothing to clean it with. I guess - what I am saying.....is it would only be good for a very certain type of camping person. And the cost of it!!! $%$%$! Yikes.
It's not for everyone. If you want to charge it without fire you just connect a USB power source. Not a big deal. I charged it up before first use. Sins then its always full after use. Have a great weekend Susan.
Thank you very much for watching. Its much more easy to compare boiling water then cooking a beef stue on different stoves. Yes it could have been more entertaining if I prepared a meal from scratch, but that wasn't the goal of this video. Have an amazing week man.

@offgridsweden omg wow thank you so much for replying ! You defiantly put a smile on my face when I seen this thanks so much! I hope you have N amazing day as well! It was a beautiful spring day here in nova scotia! 😀
I using the first generation Biolite n accessories.. 2012 version.
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you enjoyed your review 😇
Thank you very much. Have an amazing Sunday!
= I use tempdiff 80 degrees as base,
That is 9,5W with some smart design. for about 20 euros worth, and better conductors and TEG´s i am sure trippling this is possible quite easily. Consider serialing/paralleling these for the purpose of charging heavier batteries 12/24/48v when cooking in the wood stove.
In winter months you keep the fire going 24/7 Summer basically 4+ hours a day, add solar to complete and you have a good base for power generation.
What is the backpack called? Where to buy this?
great video
Thank you very much. Have an amazing weekend!
Dude you didn't not test the electrical charger !! I was waiting for it !!
Watch part 2 😁 th-cam.com/video/Ur5e6_oP6bs/w-d-xo.html
we didnt see the powercharger?
Watch part 2 of the review th-cam.com/video/Ur5e6_oP6bs/w-d-xo.html and you will have all the info about the stove. Have an amazing week Ellie!
how much does the fan sounds?
There,s a reason why i got A Biolite CS2 instead of a gas stove (Or a solo stove)... It just always works... I have used it in +32°c to - 29°c In the rain and in a snowstorm...It uses less than 1/10th of the fuel that a campfire would use...A gas stove (Jetboil) isnt going to work reliably at -32°c... And you can,t move a Solo stove while its running...
Hej! Im considering this stove, this was a good review! What tea were you drinking? :-)
Thank you very much. I belive it was some sort of Chai I was drinking. More videos about outdoor life will come. Have an amazing weekend!
Underbart.❤❤❤❤❤
What is the music?
very nice!
Thank you very much. Have an amazing week!
Rocking that Helly Hansen
Thanks man. Helly Hansen is great. Have an amazing weekend!
They do make 600ml versions of that cup...
Wait you forgot your camera!
It's a hard life and it takes a lot of cameras that gets forgotten 😁
Lower the fan and less wood you use😉
& I just use a small outdoor kettle instead of buying the bulky BioLite boiler 😇
@mugenjin8158 Look at part 2. Its only about the generation of electricity. Have a great Tuesday.
Airwood Euro bm.
"What kind of stove are you using?"
SOTO Muka Stove, Fire Maple FMS-117H (Blade 2), PINGUIN Surpass titan.
Sounds good
Suppose to make a upside down fire. Perfect stove for a Swedish fire box.
Sure is. Have an amazing week!
well done........
Thanks, have an amazing week Finn
Wooow , incredibile 🤩
Thanks Jonny. Have an amazing Thursday!
Why make a review of this stove and not even try the usb charger which is the most interesting thing about it?
Subscribe and hit that notification bell 🛎 so you don't miss it.
so good........
I use a stove with 5 gas burners and a electric oven!
Thats awesome. Would love to have a gas stove at home. Have an amazing Monday Igor.

Du med...😀
Kelly kettle
@@illiJomusic Really good that you could send it back after you used it. In Sweden i don't think that would be possible. Have an amazing weekend man!
dude literally hikes with a basket lol!
Yea, why not. Have an amazing week!
🖒🖒🖒
Thanks!
I just decided to throw my biolite grill away $250 I'm going to throw it away it's that bad
What is the problem with it? Mine still works like a charm?
Just a woodgas stove
Noone gets helped by this, you don't even mention the powerbank.
Well, then you need to look in part 2 of the review. Its in the endcard. Have an amazing weekend Lina.
And at the 3 minute mark I talk about the powebank in this video as well, but more info in part 2 of the review.
Hej och tack för en bra video!
Här hittar ni massa bra om matlagning i naturen och massa annat:
www.utsidan.se/section/cooking/index.htm
Absolut. En fantastisk sida.
Would have been way more informative if you had actually cooked something. Boiling water is no big deal.
Thank you very much for watching. Its much more easy to compare boiling water then cooking a beef stue on different stoves. Yes it could have been more entertaining if I prepared a meal from scratch, but that wasn't the goal of this video. Have an amazing week man.
Snart så börjar de
Jajemensan. I was on a Premiere earlier today on a channel with over 20000 subscribers. Only 7 people on that Premiere. Hope there will be a few more online in an hour.
We’ll see
