Ohi Chozaemon IX Japanese Master Hand 第十一代 大樋長左衛門の陶芸

Food master Japan is a global channel that covers Japan's top artisans and food culture.
Ohi ware has a history of over 350 years in Kanazawa City. It has it's roots in the Raku ware of Kyoto, and is characterized by hand-turning and candy color glaze without the use of a potter's wheel. We visited the studio, where has beautiful Japanese tea house and filmed the entire creation process of the artist, Ohi Chosaemon IX.

We travels around Japan to introduce the local food, culture, and traditional crafts. During the spring and summer of 2021, we traveled to Ishikawa Prefecture to film the top of masters there.

第十一代大樋長左衛門さんの茶碗を、縁あって何度か目にすることがあり、気が付けばあの飴色と独特な肌の虜になっていました。
このように作られるのを初めて拝見しとても感慨深いものでした。
意図的に形を作るというより、最初のペタンペタンとした下地の形から自然に手延べした形であること。そして指先で押して形作る工程は、一押し一押し心を込めているようで、とても感動しました。
