In John 17:3, Jesus was referring to the authority and contents of the Shama, the Jewish prayer that Jesus prayed several times a day, every day, like ALL Jews prayed, including the disciples, the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
We know this because in Mark 12:29, Jesus quoted it: "Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." He is referring to Deuteronomy 6:4 which reads:
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."

In Mark 12:29 Jesus recites the Shama, in which he calls upon the Divine Name of the God of Abraham, TWICE. In the Shama prayer, is the Name YHWH, written TWICE because this name is the name of the God of Abraham and Moses.
In John 17:3, Jesus is referring to the "ONLY TRUE GOD" as YHWH, the God he calls out to in Mark 12:29 in the Shama.
In John 17:3, Jesus is saying that the only true God is YHWH and no other god by any other name. (See Deuteronomy 18:20 for those who call on the name of other gods and what their punishment is!)
Jesus is saying in John 17:3 that Eternal Life is:
1) To personally know YHWH and to worship YHWH
AND
2) To personally know Jesus
.....BOTH (1) AND (2) are required to have Eternal Life, according to Jesus in John 17:3.
Failure in the above, means that anyone not knowing BOTH YHWH .....AND.....Jesus, does NOT have Eternal Life and will perish in eternity.

Every Christian that claims that he/she has seen Jesus can never tell you what he looked like. These are either delusional or liars.
Neither is the case. Many Muslims are in fact having visions and dreams of Jesus, resulting in many conversions to Christ....this is reality. I myself received a vision from Jesus, some decades ago, which was so astonishing that I will never forget it for the rest of my life. You should not doubt someone else on the basis of you not having experienced what someone else has experienced. For instance, you accept that Mohammed saw Gabriel....yet you have never seen Gabriel! There are many things you accept as a Muslim, that you have not experienced. By your logic, then if your prophet saw Gabriel and you haven't, then your prophet according to you must be a liar. Did Mohammed tell you what Gabriel looked like?

If you check my comment, at no point did I say that I cannot describe what I saw. The opposite is the case. Here is what I saw:
Suddenly while worshipping God, a vision opened up right in front of me, that looked like a movie, except I wasn't outside of the movie, but inside it! The picture was a moving picture, in which there were market stalls with lots of people buying and selling in the market.
Jesus appeared coming between the people in the market stall, followed by some men. He came out to the end of the stall and suddenly turned and looked straight at me. When I say he looked at me, he was really looking INSIDE of me! In other words he could see everything I was and there was nothing hidden to him!
He spoke some words briefly to me: "Are you going to follow me?" For a brief second he gazed at me and then turned and walked on, up the hill, followed by the men who were following him. When he spoke, he did not speak with his mouth. He spoke with his spirit directly into my spirit and I understood precisely what he was saying.
This happened when I was 24 years old, a long, long time ago and I have never forgotten it to this day! I've never seen anything like this since and I will remember it and treasure it for the rest of my life.
Now, I didn't deserve this vision - most people are probably better than I am. I didn't ask for this vision either....I was just worshipping God! I certainly never expected one either - it just appeared right in front of me and lasted several minutes!
So your idea that I cannot describe this, is wrong. On the contrary, I will never forget it!!

He was wearing traditional robes and I recognised him immediately, not from a physical appearance but from his spiritual power. You do not recognise Jesus by his physical appearance but by his supreme authority and power. I don't think (in fact, I know) that you do not understand this at all! Unless you have had the privilege of this experience, you will never understand what this actually means to the person who receives it. You are fascinated upon the idea of Jesus's physical appearance because you are thinking in earthly terms about an earthly man and what he looked like and when someone says they have seen a vision like this, you are trying to grasp what this is in an earthly fashion. That is a vain pursuit - and its completely missing what I've described to you. I'm not talking about some aperition of a portrait of someone, like a painting, here - I'm telling you about Jesus as he appeared in this "video vision", in which I recognised him by his authority and power and because he turned and looked at me, with full knowledge of me externally and internally, past, present and future.....what I had been,....what I was then,.....and what I will be in the then future.
If what I was describing to you was something like someone saying: 'Oh I saw a figure of Jesus.' full stop, with no meaning and no context and no message, then this sounds like some weird imagination of an image - but what I'm telling you about is something entirely different which had a profound message and meaning. In f.act, Jesus's words to me, identified him, more than his appearance....and this is actually consistent with the two disciples who were walking along the road to Emmaus who were joined by a man who asked them why they were sad! It wasn't his physical appearance that was important, it was when he broke the bread for them both and spoke the words only Jesus spoke to them, that they recognised he was Jesus with them!
Anyway, I've spent long enough describing this to you and I realise you do not appreciate what I have described to you and you never will, so there isn't much point in me talking with you any further on this matter. For me it is life changing and life transforming,....but for you, its just something for you to criticise because you haven't had this privilege yourself.

If Islam makes the image of Allah swt and Muhammad saw. Of course Muslims will worship those god images till this day that are clearly not real gods, just idol images not god like the pagans did at the beginning of their religious history even though they are now trying to deny the deeds of their forefathers.
