As a British person watching Peaky Blinders felt so nostalgic even though Ive never been in Birmingham or in a 1900s English gang. Plus Tom Hardy’s cockney accent as Alfie was truly satisfying to hear.

I was watching an episode, and in the fist few minutes, he asked me to change it to another show, or to kindly help him to bed. Of course we watched something else. The next day i asked him why the show bothered him. He said “Too close to the bone son, too close to the bone”, I told him he sounded like the main character, and he said “The f i do !” Then I said “Now you sound like the older brother”. Catching my rift, he said “F off!” I said this is the point where you pull a .45 and shoot me dead. He said, now full on Cillian Murphy “ I’d never shoot you, your mother would never forgive me. I’d ‘ave to get someone else to do it for me…”
This is why I can’t watch Breaking Bad for long periods of time. I was raised around junkies, most of my aunts and uncles were various levels of dealer and wannabe kingpin. Made the national news a few times. It just kinda digs at old wounds, so I get your dad well.
That was pure genius. That line at the end about the path 'not being easy anymore' even hit me a little bit before I realized what the hell I was watching.
The only difference is tommy made his paths hard on purpose since he was doing wrong but doing good and not letting the evil in the world change you from what you believe is the hardest path in the world it makes you stronger. If someone shoots someone you cared about you know revenge wont change anything and can make things worse and its not like killing him will stop someone else from doing the same again but you choose revenge anyways its the easier solution than simply looking for your own justice without becoming as pathetic as the person who did that to you and doing the same thing plus killing them wont make them suffer like you will. Thats why theirs always more bad than good everyone who got hurt by the evil in the world became like the world its a never ending cycle that can only be broken when you pick the harder path but since they dont, things always get worse and tommy is a great example of that everything he did made his life worse while those who chose the harder path stay the strongest and can deal with not letting pain make them trash. Tommy always picked the easy side when ever he got hurt if someone hurt his feelings than he chose to be heartless so he does not go through it again that only weakens you cause you dont know how to deal with situations like that with out doing dumb things and not seeing the truth that their are good people out there worth that trust. Instead everyone become backstabbers because they all chose not trust by having their trust broken and that way of thinking spreads and now everyone has trust issues. The strong dont get hurt by that because they know their are real deal people out there worth the sacrifice they wont lose to those who already lost to the worlds bad.
