- as you may have noticed Minecraft content on youtube has had a major change: it's becoming more fast-paced and modernized, and in my opinion it's also became less authentic. Here's why.
I talk about how social media like Tik tok lowered people's attention span. And with TommyInnit and Mr Beast Gaming pushing what content is required to keep up with competition, people are forced to try harder to get with the times. It's a fight for attention, and in some ways this change is good, but it also means we don't get those "old" styled videos anymore.

Just to be clear this is all my opinion. I personally don't like the new type of content but rather the old authentic stuff. Also ignore the part where i mentioned Techno at the end, it's really sad to see him go and at the time of making this I didn't know things were getting worse. o7

I think that this is a trend, that will pass, and is probably actually already on it's way out. Many classic minecraft youtubers like Lizzie and Joel make pretty much the same content they ever made, and it's just as good imo. Skeppy always did challenge videos, putting x kids in a box did get old and was overdone but his most recent videos were all bangers. The sad reality is nothing will ever be the same, ever. As you get older, things change. That's good, if it was always the same then it would be boring. I really enjoy Minecraft youtube still, it has definitely changed from when they used to dominate Twitch, but nothing lasts forever. Just be glad it happened.

I don't think I'm alone when I say the older Minecraft TH-camrs probably became so popular through their creativity.
This is shown through examples like Pat and Jen who created so many diverse series to their name, or DanTDM with his iconic character Dr. Traysaurus.
Minecraft's content has also changed through creators leaving too, like FyreUK, who I personally have as a memory when I bought the four original handbooks which they were repeatedly mentioned in.
Of course, this is all my opinion.
I used to create Minecraft machinima videos 6-7 years ago and stopped uploading due to university preparation. When I came back to look at what has changed on TH-cam, I was shocked at the fact that literally all Minecraft machinima channels had died and they were replaced with the ones you mentioned in this video. Some of the channels still seem to be creative with their Minecraft content, but most of them are now repetitive money generators.
I don't know what the next trend is going to be in Minecraft, but it needs to change soon.
Personally, I really value subtitles because of my sensory processing issues, and while I agree with the general sentiments (including of the psychological effects of subtitles) I feel like subtitles becoming more common is a net positive.

I do agree with you, lots of things are a lot harder and competitive but im just hoping that one day it could be more laid back. The only person ive been able to see make some what laid back content and get views is Techno

I'm glad someone's made a video. Since the beginning of this year, I've felt were back in where Minecraft was in like.. 2015? Coming from someone who was done with Minecraft by like end of 2013 or so for reference. We've come full circle again, and the "nostalgia" factor is gone. Skeppy for reference was someone I loved watching over summer of 2020 despite his content not really being what I ever watch. Now? It's all... well as you said in this video. Fast paced, clickbaity, etc. It's just the past "cringe" era with subtitles. At least we can watch the few solid creators.

As a Minecraft TH-camr, or just a TH-camr in general, it's hard not to fall into the trap of "only doing things that will appease the algorithm / only copying what works for others, etc." and going sicko mode with that concept lmao. We have to remember that it's important to stay grounded in who we are, and to make content because you truly enjoy what you're creating, not solely just chasing the numbers. While I honestly believe that it is important to try your best to keep improving your retention, and to try to get more views and to improve analytics wise, it's important to not lose yourself in the process.
Stay true to yourself within your content, kings.

@@MinecraftCurios Yeah, I was uploading every week last spring/summer but I came into a challenging time in my life that caused me to stop uploading as much and focus more on my mental health, my schedule dropped down to 1 video every 1 - 2 months, and I finally have a content plan that will hopefully allow me to start uploading videos at least Bi-weekly. As far as thumbnails though, I am trying my best to improve them, It's been a lot of trial and error for me.
I try my best to just make my videos the best I can possibly make them, in a way that both satisfies myself creatively, and also the algorithm / what works in the Niche / what I think will give the viewer an incentive to watch till the end, and all that jazz etc. (Whether I do that well at all or not is debatable lmao)

im sick of these past few years. and all i have to blame is covid honestly. it brought people so much freetime that they had nothing else to do rather than sit at home and play minecraft. and first it blew up and it was the best year of my life. 2018-2020 was such a good time in my life and i could really enjoy content creators and now its all gone to waste. i have to admit that tiktok is the worst part about this. as you said in the video, the attention span of people quickly went to 0 and now theres really not that much content that people including me can enjoy. and i dont know about you but all these minecraft videos have already got on my nerves. i sometimes cant believe people actually like content like this and all these mrbeast videos, dream videos, dream copies, mrbeast copies, etc.. are starting to get to me. salc1 is probably one of the only ones thats left that isnt trash content. and i dont see another way out of this. minecraft is dying, honestly already dead. the hypixel content creation and ESPECIALLY the bedwars community is just cringing the fuck out of me. take for example all those new "content" creators.. "3 new best texture packs" and thats all they post. or take for example "deadsocky". i cant see his face ever again. his videos are just him with a facecam and a mic SO CLOSE TO HIS FACE. you can hear his lungs from inside out. and he keeps making those weird fucking faces that make me feel like he wants to kidnap me. i dont know where the world has gone since the pandemic.. games are boring, videos are boring, and no one knows what to do with themselves. im glad someone atleast has an opinion about this getting out of control. i hate what dream has done to the content creation in minecraft.. but its honestly not all him to blame. i hope sometimes soon we could come back to play minecraft late at night. not to talk about those minecraft updates.. 1.17, 1.18, 1.19 are all the same update but split to 3 parts. mojang promised to us so many things, we got all hyped up and honestly i dont feel like they updated anything except the caves. i barely see the new mountains, and if i do the snow is drowning me and i cant climb up the mountains. goats are useless, there are no bundles, no biome updates like the birch that they promised and the swamp is pretty whack. i wish they could actually do the stuff they promised to do. for example the fireflies.. they said they dont want to add them because "some are poisonous to frogs". like dawg. we can eat raw meat, kill animals for a living and eat their flesh alive, murder cats and human beings (being the villagers) and they dont want to add fireflies? what about adding to the ambiance of the biomes? they just promise too much stuff and dont add the stuff they promised because of some stupid "reasons". and then repeate it every year. cant we have one normal update? update the birch, badlands, plains, taiga, like even with the taiga update all they did is update the villages, add some berries and a fox. how is that an update? come on mojang. do better. take for example the warden.. they promised to release him in summer of 2021. and then for unknown reasons made the update a 2 part and released him only in 1.19 not even in the part 2? like come the fuck on. im so done and upset.
This was such an in depth description about what everyone in the community is feeling right now dude. It's not like I hate minecraft, I've loved it forever and I still WANT to continue loving it, but everything has become so inauthentic. On tiktok someone started that trend of answering questions with blurry shitty parkour in the back and everyone ran with it and made it worse. Dream and the dreamsmp is dead because all their members are doing shit they actually wanna do now, and it feels like no one knows what the fuck to do anymore. Everyone's a copy of someone else and nothing is legitimately entertaining anymore. I just wanna see minecraft either get a lot better or go back to the way it used to be, but i know that won't happen because nothing is the same as it was before covid.

Minecraft is dying? Really? There are still millions of players playing minecraft daily. The new cave and mountain generation is very noticeable lol. There are giant mountains generating often whenever I play minecraft. If the warden were to be released in part 2, then there would have been no deep dark city. Goats can drop their horns which can be used to make sound in a large area. Mojang has to figure out how bundles should work on minecraft pocket edition. The taiga update was huge because of the new village trading system and was better than the old one in my opinion. I don't know much about game development, but I know that the devs are genuine and have to go through so much before an idea get added in the base game. Although 1.19 is a disappointment, I still have faith in mojang. The nether update they did for 1.16 was amazing and I am sure they could pull something off in the near future. Pixlriffs(minecraft youtuber) who had some information about Mojang's plans has mentioned that Mojang has learned from the community's reaction to the Wild Update (vs what was shown at Minecraft Live), and is going to communicate their intentions more carefully. I don't think this miscommunication will ever happen again in the manner of the Wild update.
But yeah I hate that most minecraft content produced on youtube is boring and unoriginal. There are only a few youtube channels that I like to watch. Sometimes I watch older minecraft because of nostalgia and more love was put into making them.

I am sure millions of people still play minecraft because of mods, free pc bedrock/java, hypixel and friends even if vanilla minecraft right now is ehh. And I am sure of this because the views on minecraft content aren't that low and there are still dedicated players. And I will still keep playing minecraft even if player numbers are low as long as decent updates keep coming out. Why do player numbers determine whether you want to play a game or not? There was a good reason for the split and you know it. The cave and mountain generation would have been lackluster if they came out in 1.17 and it released early. And as I already said, there would have been no deep dark city because of this too. And what features were removed? Some were delayed but for good reason. Even if there were so called features that were removed, there are probably good reasons. You lose this much faith just because of the wild update? The miscommunication problem happened only once bruv. Some of the devs in the Minecraft dev team used to be modders and they for sure won't tolerate any more miscommunication like this because they love minecraft and want the community to be happy. The team is not filled with greedy, lazy and corporate developers but mostly genuine devs that want minecraft to become the best it can be. You can't just think that such a big miscommunication problem will happen over and over again in the future. I agree that removing the fireflies for being poisonous to frogs is stupid. Like so many have said, just make the frogs not eat them lol. I am also disappointed that improved birch forests seemed like they were going to be added but were actually not. Overall I just think the wild update and the minecraft live event that went over the details of the wild update which caused so much contraversy is just a misstep to an amazing game in the future.
Around 3:19 when you say “many TH-camrs stopped uploading because they lost the need” you showed Technoblade’s channel. Are you not aware of his situation? He stopped uploading because he was diagnosed with cancer and was going through chemotherapy. Just thought you should know that

@@KiddyKene He may have done so in appearances but he is also the same person who made an entire joke video about getting his arm amputated. A much more accurate representation of how things are going is his friend's reactions. For example, around the time Techno uploaded his first video explaining about his diagnosis (again in a very jokey and light-hearted way), Ph1lza was talking about how very sick he is and you could see how genuinely worried he was about his friend. While this was a while ago and since then Techno does seem to have recovered substantially, it is still a massive stretch to assume he of all people is taking a break for lack of a need to upload - you don't know what happens behind closed doors. I can see there was no bad intention, but I still found this comment, specifically in relation to him, in really bad taste. If nothing else because you could have literally picked multiple other content creators who also upload rarely *coughDreamTeamcough* for whom it is much fairer to make such assumptions as they do not have this glaringly obvious other reason not to. Do better next time!

I was born at such a time that I grew up watching old MCYT and new MCYT. I appreciate both eras of MCYT because although they both have different feels to them, what’s important to me is that there’s a MCYT community at all. Lots of people really dislike the new creators and the community associated with them, but I’m just glad there’s a thriving community at all. I personally just hope that Mojang doesn’t kill the community with their new updates as of recently.

You raise some good points. That's kind of why I don't take TH-cam seriously (or at least *too* seriously). And another way to retain your true, authentic self is to edit the videos yourself. That way, you can know what to do next time and better yourself.

this is the reason I like 100 Days videos. They are usually around 30 minutes to 1/2 hours. And many of them dont have the king of the algorithm SUBTITLES, unless its a live 100 days video if you know what i mean (e.g sb737) and even then most of those live 100 days dont have subtitles!
And don't forget about 100 players or 1000 players social experiment video especially the prison one with plot and storyline that feels too cinematic

I was making a youtube video, editing it as much as possible to keep up retention, then I watched one of my videos that I barely edited, and I enjoyed it so so much. Of course I would have edited it a little more. I've realized how much I hate hyper editing, and fast pace editing. There's things on success about youtubers, and it's from them making their vlogs into highlight reels of the day, I really would just prefer to see the entire day edited down just a little. I guess those people who have short attention spans will hate this, but I think people should just get better at being patient, because the non hyper edited videos are much much much better.

The thing I watched Vanoss for Minecraft content. I may have watched the British dude like once maybe twice. Same with dream, but if I'm being honest Minecraft content hasn't been the same for many a year. I remember the old days of Yogscast, scuffed pupper, and the legend himself, Sky. due to cracked clients existence, its offline functionality, and its community-managed nature (servers and mods), its almost guaranteed Minecraft would not die.

Dude, Techno was literally battling cancer for the past year. His family didn't announce his death at the time of upload though you should have used someone else as an example.
