After maybe ten minutes or less, the drones will self destruct. Have warheads inside the drones, causing even more damage to cripple a ship. Please experiment with this concept in another vid please.
This would also ensure that if the drones were destroyed by turrets, the warheads would likely be detonated by the gunfire, causing at least some damage.
You could try to seperate those 'parasites' inside your ship and put them in little cells. That could stop the drones turning, so that they dont grind themselves away or enter out the top.

i feel like without the drones being clamped in place until the "horse" itself has been breached, having quite that many drones is a tad inneffective, seeing as how they all grind themselves half to death. but if you wanna avoid clamping mechanisms, maybe have fewer drones facing in many directions, or only have a small handful of remote control drones. actually, what if you had four remote control drones, one with a grinder for burrowing towards vitals, one with a welder for sealing those burrows, and two with guns for defending the grinder and/or creating a distraction for it. maybe replace one of the gunners with a suicide bomb drone, or add it in as a fifth.
They could work great as time bombs as is, or as escape weapons. Imagine if you knew where someone was, and that they would be an easy target, but they had a cargo full of those little bastards, and just started dropping them randomly along their flight path with timers. The abject fear of that moment when a large lumbering animal stumbles across thousands of hungry piranha's...that's about the feeling you'd have. I can imagine a few random cargo pods just floating about full of those bastards just shredding an unsuspecting scavengers ship in moments.
I think that changing which walls of the drone’s compartment is heavy or light may help to give the drones a better chance of going a direction that you want, such as having the rest of the compartment made of heavy armor and only the bottom will have light armor. I also think that making the gravity gens turn on at a specific time and then go mad, so that instead of them flying everywhere, they all go a specific direction until the timer you set makes the gens throw the drones off for a loop and go every which way; giving them better accuracy and a smaller chance of flying out of the target ship.
They might not be super effective all the time at hitting critical systems... but the random nature of how they fly and tend to cut blocks free to float around in the ship, would make it super annoying (if nothing else) to repair. Giving you time to attack the station/ship as the player is distracted with the random holes in his creation. Amazing concept, I love it!
I think this version is far more harmful for attacker than enemy. Maybe it'd work better if your ship opened to let them out so they don't destroy your ship and each other but easily follow their target. There could be also platform on piston pushing them out. Maybe if you came back to sticky bomb design you could add a rotor and some sensor so drones activate one after another in one direction except all at once and everywhere. Maybe automated factory of drones with gravity gun would do the job since they look cheap and losing some wouldn't be a big deal when you keep shooting new ones. Maybe landing gear would work if there was a timer which releases it after few second if block is out of grinders range. (If that's the problem) Those are few of my quick ideas about your project.

Two things I think could improve this build - a sensor to turn off the grinder when it detects it's about to grind one of its buddies and a ring of sensors to turn it back toward the larger ship if it escapes. Might have to put the drones in their own faction so they can grind out of the Trojan horse but still turn off grinders if they get in each other's way.
Separate the drones out so they start further apart. If there's a programmable block on board, it can read a lot of information from the sensor and the parasite. You could set the drone up so that if its gyroscope or thruster(s) become inoperative, it detonates a warhead. I would program it in a way that the warhead gets placed on a countdown and every time the programmable block detects that everything is operable, it resets the timer but still counts down. Warheads do no need power to countdown and explode. So if the programmable block or the power source gets taken out, if the parasite runs out of energy, BOOM.
A good idea for this is to had the drones face different directions inside the horse. One down, one up, sides, front back, ect. And there would be a timer block that would activate the sensors AFTER they started grinding, and got away from eachother.

Even more evil, you could leave the drones inactive until you get in a battle with the crew and then set the drones off leaving the crew confused and in panic as their systems shut off one by one. I think the smartest idea for a decoy though if you are in a conflict is to simply have a signal set off by a remote control in the ship to give away the location of the enemies. Another concept could be having welders that build combat drones in the ship essentially taking it over. By the time the enemy tries to reclaim the ship, it will be overrun with combat drones either chasing the enemy away from the now captured ship or forcing them to destroy their own vessel. Finally, and I think the best idea, to have welders build the remote controlled grinder and warhead drones WITH a landing gear and have them park all around the ship effectively booby trapping it, if the crew brings their ship back to base, it will violently explode dealing severe damage to the base.
You could connect the roof with merge blocks/ rotors and set a timer so that when the grinders activate, the roof opens so they don't have to waste time grinding out
Two factors to consider. First, thickening the topside of the trojan horse so the grinderbots escape out the bottom reliably. Second, artificial gravity.
If you used the magnetic field warhead to punch through initial armor, the nanites *mite* find it easier to get inside, without all the whooptie doodads. Strap both insane contraptions to a heavily armored carrier and have fun breaching anything big enough to literally shit on
Build a axle in the center of the "Trojan" craft. Make retractable doors above and below the axle with the bots attached to the axle or a similar system, maybe hidden ducts where the bots sleep & hide?
you should make a bait ship out of large separate parts, held together only by few easily grinded light armor connections. so when the drones wake up, and start grinding - ship quickly falls apart and they don't waste time grinding each other. sort of like Kestrel's airtight doors, but with single light armor block holding it in place, instead of a merge block. also try adding gyroscopes or rotors near the connection points, so CLANG will wreck bait ship apart very quickly, once those connection points are damaged. also maybe reorient drones inside bait, so they are launched in different directions.
Sooo, Id totally thin the armor on the horse like just parrely finish it in places to the grinders bots get out faster, or even grid them in inot the ship more like in the nacelles. Could even make this into part of a ramming assault pod with a hull breach nose that pours out sleeping drones right after impact!
You should do the same thing, but with warheads and thrusters, so it's detaches the top, and then the warheads fly out and hit stuff, or you could have one grinder to grind the floor while the warheads try to get out.
The trojan horse ship looked like it would be a very good ship. You could probably get some of those normally in your world, and have space to walk around on long voyages.
If you want the drones to cut their way down instead of out the top, Put heavy armor on the top. Most drifting objects will take the path of least resistance.
You made a larger version of this a year or two ago and I think it worked better because they would use more sensors to determine where the large ships were
Maybe you can use some merge blocks and pistons to make the carrier ship open itself, so the grinders can get out more easily, which should make them less likely to break eachother. Could put in some warheads as well, if you felt like it. Or instead of pistons, make the ship just come apart into lots of pieces, still using merge blocks, then add mass blocks to each part and a spherical gravity generator somewhere in the middle to launch the pieces outwards.
great video I really want u to make a video in a online server and troll people and u should try to make the grinding bots better like more destruction and make them not damage eachother like placing some in the engines of the horse so some will come out off the engines and place one under the cockpit like everywhere not every single grinding bot in the middle of the hourse like if someone desides to cut a small hole on topp of the ship they see every grinding bot soo yeah
I think this is very much a zeppelin idea, in theory it’s incredible, but in practice it just doesn’t seem to pan out how it was expected to and turns out to be more costly than it’s worth.
my favorite trojan horse ship is a powered down ship that is full of thermonuclear warheads (mod block that does 200,000 damage per block with a 100 block radius) placed near an enemy base with an antenna and battery stuck to it with a landing gear so it is visible regular vanilla warheads work too when the ship is powered on the nukes start their 5 minute countdown needless to say, most players dont go around grabbing random ships anymore one guy that fell for it had the asteroid base he was gloating about simply deleted when the nukes went off the admin tried it on me but since my turrets are set to attack unowned grids it didnt make it close enough to do any damage (setting ownership to that of the player being attacked is game breaking and is a bannable offence on the server i play on)
Thoose drones would be even more efficient if they had a cargo container and a way to come back home. I'm not sure about the ROI on that thing, but that would be a lot of fun. Ennemy player : Oh ! Free Ship ! You : Oh ! Free ressources !
you could try making it a remote activation so you have a couple cameras about and when you think the player has left or quit you press a button and havoc ensues
what if instead of being a grinding drone dispenser, it was a grinding drone factory? and also making the drones guided would probably help solve the flying away problem
A couple different ideas: First, Perhaps this could be used as a form of bomber. Though it would take some skill if you could design a bomber that carries anywhere between 10-20 of them you can attempt to target the hangers or airlocks if they are open, that way when they activate they are not contained in a small ship, rather they have the ability to spread out and do more damage. Second idea, similar to the bomber idea this would be a combat build rather than a trojan horse, design a ship with chutes narrow enough that the bots cannot rotate while being transported, latch onto an enemy ship and activate them, they will follow the chute (hopefully) and burrow into the hull directly beneath them, a good way to propel them is to possibly use grav generators to push them into the other ships hull. Both the bomber and the latcher can be reloaded for multiple attacks allowing for you to save resources and to cause more damage. (Disclaimer; I do not own or have ever played this game. but from what gameplay I have seen this has a possibility to work.)
I think a whole grinding dronp ship that works as a syringe of these little grinding bots could be a better option... Big ship attacks, you send the drone to smash into the other ship hopefully carrying enough working drones and create some troubles grinding and exploding from the inside. A better use could be against meteor outposts.
again, integrating some lotus tech might be useful. slap a projector and welder on, and you get yourself as many drones as you have the resources for. or until the projector/welder gets grinded away, which could also happen very easily with such little space. so that would probably be more useful for your first attempt, where you can make sure that the drones initially all fly away from your main projectile and only come back to it sometimes due to randomness.
LastStandGamers it would be more effective if it was a hidden bomb using hydrogen fuel and warheads. Speaking of which could you experiment with large bombs being armored or made to look like crates. For example you could have a "crate" held by a merge block hooked to a timer/sensor so when the merge block is released it activates the hidden bombs. This would allow bombs to be disguised as freighter crates effectively. It can also make the bomb more survivable by it being surrounded by armor as well as allowing bigger pay loads to be delivered.
Seems like it'd be best used in conjunction with a sneak attack. Use the parasite droids to get them out of the cockpit and then come in with jet fighters to take out all their engines. Potentially even drop more grinding droids. I'd probably make the quick change to have the droids drill in a straight line.
the major problem with the 'mini' drones is they cant get out and destroy most of the others before escaping. You ether need a longer ship to space them more or a way to jettison the roof of the ship to release the payload.
judging by the fact that you can see major hull damage and major internal damage in the hammerhead corvette (which since it is full scale it looks like SE's battlecruiser) in the engine pods just the damage you can see between them is just satisfying. 5:23 look closly.
I remember a video, idk from who, who had a torpedo like thing that would attach to the ship then drill through out, you could probably do something like that but have at the front a door that opens and releases the nanites, also better having heavy blocks on the places you dont want it to go through, food for thought.
Perhaps make them more like disks or cubes another thing you could do is add thrusters to add directional thrust that splits them in certain directions adding a timer block that turns them on and off would still create the effect of them moving around a bit but to cause maximum damage they need to get into the interior of the ship to be effective.
maybe if there were some sort of release hatch that was timed to open as the grinders go offf to release them instead of having them needing to grind their way out first it'd be much more effective
oh good idea, like a way for a sensor to check the damage of a part or something would be useful, making it activate something if its grinded or damaged too much XD! **could imagine a grinding ship just grinding it for parts, getting a suprise**
add the nanobot build and repair mod, these would be 100 times more effective since you can actually tell the system which types of block to target or ignore. I currently use a small ship to take out the enemy control stations and remotes allowing me to quickly place my own and take control of thrusters to avoid enemy response units.
They might not do vital damage on bigger ships but it will surely be annoying as hell to repair all the damage. And if you wait nearby to attack when they are distracted with the drones depending on manpower they might have to either prioritise you or the drones. Meaning the other has lots of time to do damage.
You could do like a barnacle design with 4 and individual tubes of heavy armour for each rginder with a thick shell but paper thin bottom for latching onto the outside of ships and maybe have multiple ones of these spread out on the ship
I would make a building bay for these inside a meteor that continuously generates them as long as it has material and they just patrol around and swarm anything that come close
You should probably put them in separate cells and maybe make them start facing in different directions to speed up the process and inflict less self-damage.
Could you make a version with a hidden antenna, so that the antenna turns into a pirate antenna and starts spawning drones to attack the ship and player once a certain time passed?
I'm thinking this would be better as a breaching tool. an armored bulkhead that destroys itself or pops off in the front, and then those little things would activate and pour into the ship.
I have an alternate version, at the core of a larger ship, install a quad rotor 4 beam atlas super laser... you hear this horrible noise coming from your hangar, then it just cuts itself in half
I arranged a meeting with my brother to tour his new dreadnought which he was going to attack me with in a few hours just so I could eat an idea of what I was up against. I flew my cruiser over which has no weapons and is merely a peace vehicle thing. I modified it so it didn’t have jump drives and instead was full of these bots and I had about 20 inside then I parked up got out and set them on a timer for 1 minute. I the. Proceeded and upon hearing the drill sound I snuck into an escape pod after my brother started flying around and I used timing to get myself to my interstellar phasegate which was compatible for the escape pods and I got away unnoticed. My brother got to where he was going and discovered that his ship was in tatters and half of it was still 10KM away from him
you should try inserting them into and ememy ship trough a hull breach like a virus then remotely activate them. in the middle of a large ship battle the player would be forced to choose between repairs, internal threat, and external threat.

You could connect the roof with merge blocks/ rotors and set a timer so that when the grinders activate, the roof opens so they don't have to waste time grinding out
A great idea worth trying would be to have the ship burst apart using some sort of decoupler mechanism right when the drones activate.
Two factors to consider. First, thickening the topside of the trojan horse so the grinderbots escape out the bottom reliably.
Second, artificial gravity.
'OH NO! NOT THE BEES!'
7:34 He edited this clip to play a bit early, you can hear him count 3 2 1 and then start again, meaning he's doing another take
The way they blindly destroy the host ship then randomly destroy everything is frickin terrifying
Possibly some type of hatch at the bottom to more efficiently get them out of the ship
my favorite trojan horse ship is a powered down ship that is full of thermonuclear warheads (mod block that does 200,000 damage per block with a 100 block radius) placed near an enemy base with an antenna and battery stuck to it with a landing gear so it is visible
regular vanilla warheads work too
when the ship is powered on the nukes start their 5 minute countdown
needless to say, most players dont go around grabbing random ships anymore
one guy that fell for it had the asteroid base he was gloating about simply deleted when the nukes went off
the admin tried it on me but since my turrets are set to attack unowned grids it didnt make it close enough to do any damage (setting ownership to that of the player being attacked is game breaking and is a bannable offence on the server i play on)
As soon as it hits, jump if you are able. It leaves the nanite grinders behind and leaves the pod attached, as long as your jump drive didn't get hit.
A couple different ideas:
First, Perhaps this could be used as a form of bomber.
I would love to see this implemented as a breaching torpedo
LastStandGamers it would be more effective if it was a hidden bomb using hydrogen fuel and warheads. Speaking of which could you experiment with large bombs being armored or made to look like crates. For example you could have a "crate" held by a merge block hooked to a timer/sensor so when the merge block is released it activates the hidden bombs. This would allow bombs to be disguised as freighter crates effectively. It can also make the bomb more survivable by it being surrounded by armor as well as allowing bigger pay loads to be delivered.
if ractor is in another part of the ship, ther is no way it is dammaged, also hangar can be armored and it is just booooooooooooooooooooooooooooring
Мыслитель Вечный the mini drones do damage too slowly an even with a armored hanger you can easily do a lot more damage using bombs
Seems like it'd be best used in conjunction with a sneak attack. Use the parasite droids to get them out of the cockpit and then come in with jet fighters to take out all their engines. Potentially even drop more grinding droids. I'd probably make the quick change to have the droids drill in a straight line.
This gave me an idea to create some Mines in Space out of them.
the major problem with the 'mini' drones is they cant get out and destroy most of the others before escaping. You ether need a longer ship to space them more or a way to jettison the roof of the ship to release the payload.
You need to make Trojan cargo that floats out in space
judging by the fact that you can see major hull damage and major internal damage in the hammerhead corvette (which since it is full scale it looks like SE's battlecruiser) in the engine pods just the damage you can see between them is just satisfying. 5:23 look closly.
I remember a video, idk from who, who had a torpedo like thing that would attach to the ship then drill through out, you could probably do something like that but have at the front a door that opens and releases the nanites, also better having heavy blocks on the places you dont want it to go through, food for thought.
A good way to get them to escape the ship quickly would be to make the ships innards more hollow or be grinder down already
Wow this was kinda the idea I had that I never cared to try out. Thanks.
Can you make them go off a sensor of the moment they try to strip the ship? Get a surprise when they try to take down the ship for parts
oh good idea, like a way for a sensor to check the damage of a part or something would be useful, making it activate something if its grinded or damaged too much XD! **could imagine a grinding ship just grinding it for parts, getting a suprise**
Exactly a ticking time bomb for when they go to grind the ship, they get a surprise gift
add the nanobot build and repair mod, these would be 100 times more effective since you can actually tell the system which types of block to target or ignore. I currently use a small ship to take out the enemy control stations and remotes allowing me to quickly place my own and take control of thrusters to avoid enemy response units.
Are u going to make anymore survive series i liked them they where fun
what i would do is have the top open up using a timer block so they get out faster with less chance of them grinding eachother down
They might not do vital damage on bigger ships but it will surely be annoying as hell to repair all the damage.
Add warheads to them so if turrets or players try to shoot them, they explode.
Unfortunately the pirate antennas don't work like that.
So pirate antennas only work if they are spawned naturally?
Seems more like a mild annoyance than actual threat
This is perfect for any war servers. Looks great!
may want to setup rotors/pistons on the same timer or something on the ship to clear the way
*Nanomite breaks 1 block*
"absolute carnage"
Its like the Sea Drill from Tommorrow Never Dies! Call it the Space Drill.
I'm thinking this would be better as a breaching tool. an armored bulkhead that destroys itself or pops off in the front, and then those little things would activate and pour into the ship.
A directed gravity generator inside the Trojan ship could send the mites straight down under the ship for like a minute or two.
I have an alternate version, at the core of a larger ship, install a quad rotor 4 beam atlas super laser... you hear this horrible noise coming from your hangar, then it just cuts itself in half
That ONE drone is cutting all power
My brother got to where he was going and discovered that his ship was in tatters and half of it was still 10KM away from him
Buzz Droids.
You made Buzz Droids, you monster...
Use the sensors on the grinder bots to guide any that escape back towards the ship
you should try inserting them into and ememy ship trough a hull breach like a virus then remotely activate them. in the middle of a large ship battle the player would be forced to choose between repairs, internal threat, and external threat.
That was the previous idea.
Do a Trojan Horse attack on Capt. Jack, that'll be hilarious!
You can cal them buzz droids.
