Hello! I am installing my SmartCap this evening and glad to learn from your mistake! I am returning to AZ (for good) this August and wondering how your SmartCap has been holding up to the AZ (dry) heat?
I've had it on for a year now with no issues, plus I've done a lot of off- roading, and it's held up fine. My biggest advice is do the seals properly and torque the bolts like they say.
This is a specific random question, BUT, while shopping for my smart cap, I have a 21 Colorado z71, it says there is a fitment issue with the rear glass if it’s equipped with defrosters. I couldn’t tell for sure if you have defrost, but do you have any tight clearances while installing that seemed to be a problem?
That's interesting that it tells you that. I do have the stock rear window defrost/heaters that are laminated on the glass, and I had no issues with it fitting. Mine is a 2019 Z71 so unless there is some massive change, I don' see why it would be an issue. Just to be safe I think it might be worth a phone call to them to find out.
@@BurnNotice2023 yep! The latch systems on the new versions are completely redone. All lateches have the covers, and there is a push button on each latch to open from the inside. Closing from the inside seems a bit more difficult but I haven’t spent much time messing with it as I have a RTT I stay in.
I appreciate the video. I just had my EVO Adventure installed on my F250, absolutely love it!
Same! I don't regret the purchase at all.
AZ...consider putting a white wrap on the roof to reflect some of that sun ?
@RadMan24 I have thought about doing a wrap, but I had not thought of that idea with the roof. Not a bad idea! Though I wonder how it would hold up?
Wraps have come such a long ways! They do a great job of holding up. And white will look better, keep it cooler & will protect the paint underneath.

can you open the panels when inside the smart cap?
Unfortunately no. I wish you could, but if your thinking of sleeping inside that could be an issue.
I’m taking delivery of an Evoa in a couple days. The rep told me they’ve added the ability to open the doors from the inside. I’ll keep you posted.
@@rubbertoe8942 - that is awesome if they did that! That is one of my biggest gripes with the one I have. Yeah, let me know how it goes.
@@rubbertoe8942 Do you have an update on this yet?
