President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not known to hinder his ministers or commissioners, when he was a governor. It is only if you are not measuring up to expectations that you might feel his stick. As far as I'm concerned, Engr. Dave Umahi is one of the bright and shinning stars in this administration. He is a goal getter.

Abeokuta - Lagos Road have been constructed, years back under Obassnjo PDP administration,. But because there's a lot of corruption 😮😮 on our roads through Supervisors work to supervise the constructing roads, the damages those supervisors does to our roads are too much. Contractors are not to be blame, but those call supervisors(either from Federal, State and Local Governments).❤

Technology cannot be transferred if you cannot see it, feel it, touch it and be part of it.
President Tinubu must understand that Mega projects like this Lagos to Calabar highway (and others in Nigeria) is one of the the ways many countries of the world use to reduce unemployment in their societies.
Mr Tinubu, it is your duty to let these companies understand that they have to employ Nigerians graduates in their areas of specialities and pay them livable wages. It is insane to say that Nigerians graduates knows nothing.
Any University or Polythenic or other institutions anywhere in our planet will teach you the basics of your speciality, it is your clinical or fields work that will define you. Example, it is impossible for a Civil Engineer to build a bridge or road after graduation without working in a construction company that engages in such services.
It is the duty of those companies involved to re-train those graduates to their standards.

    • @ollyonearth

You are right and I agree with you. But this project actually already provide immediate jobs for many Nigerians. Hitech construction company who was awarded the project has been in Nigeria for decades and hired thousands of Nigeria both directly and indirectly and I have a cousin who currently works for them. In addition to that, they partner a lot with Dangote cements and in fact they are one of the largest consumer of Dangote cements and we all know that Dangote is the single largest employer of labours in Nigeria. So technically they are already doing what you mentioned. Should there be more? maybe. But to be fair, lots of skilled Nigerians are working for them already which I believe as a company, it is even more economical for them to hire Nigerians than brining expatriates from their country. construction labour can be costly and I am sure they know this. My cousin who works for them is a civil engineer and has been with them for going to 10 years now. And was even sent to Kenya for like 3years to go lead a project by the same company. We just might not know.

With a costing of trillions of Naira..to a company that the current President either owns or has interest in (Hitech Construction)..all I see here is politicians trying to recoup funds that they either spent on the last elections or in preparation for 2027..in all honesty I fail to see the viability in this coastal road project..why build a new road destroying hundreds of businesses in its wake when Nigeria's existing road network and infrastructure is in need of dire repair..shouldnt a country be looking at maintaining its current road network..tragically like everything in Nigeria there's more than meets the eye to this supposed coastal highway..

Because I had to go by buy Road to Ghana by choice shoving my flight ticket to understand what happens along that corridor, it was really an experience and Nigeria side or harbour area just have palms while Others converted theirs to great and productive harbour and resort .

Nigeria from administration of Muhammad Buhari, have been seeing good work on our roads through Capable and Zero Corrupt Ministers of Work that started through Babatunde Fashola and now David Umahi all these under APC Government.
On our Capital Projects especially On the Roads, Nigerians are seeing different from 16 years of PDP on Nigeria Roads work and of 8-9 years of APC on Nigeria roads.
