- My guest this week is Bryce Butler from Shadow of Intent.
We had a great conversation about the struggles of being a touring drummer, changing foot techniques from one tour to the next as well as Bryce's new solo project where he steps away from the kit and to the forefront as a vocalist and so much more!

The best smile in Metal music.
Man Bryce is such a good guy that even when people whine about not playing only on weekends or in their neighbours backyard he wants to be so polite haha. I met him and then band during a signing sesh this past week in Gothenburg and his smile made my day.
Bryce is the nicest, most humble, just fucking happiest drummer I've ever seen. Love the dude.
I saw Bryce playing for white chapel in Oklahoma City last year, and he was incredible both shadow and Whitechapel… Never knew him before that night. After that, I was a major fan.
Also, it's sick that you're interviewing so many cool drummers of extreme metal bands, I love it. Gonna watch Le Fou after this one!
Drums baby, absolutely love Bryce Butler! 🤘
Love this and Bryce, he is the man. Hope to catch him in glasgow soon.
Hell yah!
I subscribed cause we're talking drum.❤
20:23 is real as fuck
Bryce can you please upload a playthrough of the dreaded mystic abyss? It would be so epic. No one will do it.
One question I have is why would Bryce cut out an emad instead of getting pedal triggers, like ontrigger or footblasters.
good question! also why get the EMAD at all !?
13.5 yes fantastic
SO SSSIIIIICCCCKKKKKK
double strokes are like big tiddiés YEEESS, still cant learn it! D=
13.5?!?!? I’ve thought about that for real lol!
right!? We are gonna make this happen!
This is exactly why all these 300 bpm bands are so uninteresting to me. I love shadow of intent. But playing that fast isn’t the only thing that makes a song good. It takes a massive toll on a drummers body. Bryce is right. You have to do what you have to do. But I also think it is kind of a cheap way out. The best drummers I’ve ever seen like Ken B from Aborted have no problem making those tempos clean with singles. But I respect Bryce so much for just wanting the songs to sound as good as they can. 🤘
triggers on a kick is just like guitarists having to use a pick instead of playing fingerstyle IMO
@@jbason_01 What you are talking about is more akin to a drummer turning their beaters to the plastic side instead of using the felt side.
