Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. I LOVE this video so much, I wish there was more visual engagement.

I think this is valid for nurses as well. As the required documentation increases, it's easy to justify spending less and less time with patients, but it's an exchange that has importance for both participants. The healthcare personnel (doctor, nurse, whoever) gains information, and the patient feels validated like you said.

Thank you Sal, a very enlightening video. I want to study medicine in the UK, and this has really gotten me thinking more about becoming a doctor, as well as helping me validate my decision.

I recently (August 2023) read the novel by Dr. Abraham Verghese - " The Covenant of Water" - an excellent book, a must read - an Oprah's Book Club pick too.

Nice video as always, although the volume was a little low on this one.

Khan as a doctor would remind me of Doctor Cudner in the House M.D. series.

Great video, but the guest mic volume on all of these latest videos seem to be quite low.

    What's with the low volume
I had headphones and yet I had to turn the AC off and move into the other room

I love the Khan academy but I am very disappointed in this video. It adds no value what so ever. Dr. Abraham Verghese needs to may be donate his time and practice medicine in a third world country, may be he will not be so full of himself anymore.
I want my 8 minutes and 48 seconds back please.
