Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. My parents had Blue Cross Blue Shield for years. My mom was a cancer survivor but, in twelve years, her claims were not rejected - 1958 to 1970. It was bought in AR but she lived and worked in AL, LA and TN.

At a previous employer located in Iowa, I had BCBS of Illinois because the corporate office was in Illinois. It was excellent insurance, best I ever had, but it was also very expensive, especially if you chose the option for the smaller co-pay. Eventually, it got so pricey that the employer changed to a different insurance carrier which was not as good quality-wise, but much more affordable for the company and for the employees.

They upsell the standard but in reality the standard is just basic with many salesmen involved. I personally left BCBS and got aetna and it is much more value for moeny. BCBS is good but the cost is just not worth it

  • @mikmik9034

They were NON-Profit. As such they build a new Headquarters campus in North Haven Connecticut as the Headquarters. AFTER building the new campus (as a Non-Profit), the directors suddenly changed to a FOR-PROFIT Corporation. To keep it "clean" BCBS lobbied government to change tax laws.

yes these insurance companies are responsible for so many people being systematically murdered because of their capitalistic models.

BCBS is just a bunch of crooks, I got Aetna, not that they're any better but still not as crooked at those UHC and BCBS, mainly it was cheaper, because all insurance is kinda bad anyway

@@mohit4902 Cheap Insurance tries to not pay off or Delay payments. ALL insurance is gambling you bet you will suffer loss, through their actuaries, they bet you won't. In the end the duty is to profit for the Stock holders, Not the Policy Holder.

I've had this awful insurance company as a fed and a retiree, but this year I'm jumping ship because they've become a monolith that routinely denies patients benefits. Their nurse case managers are there not to help you, but to work on behalf of the insurance company to deny benefits. While clinical nurses are working 12 hours shifts, they sit in offices and play gatekeeper. I've dealt with several of these parasites and I won't even talk to them anymore. It's open enrollment and BCBS is rated very low. They're expensive and they give your information to third party vendors. BullCrapBullShit

Is it for profit or non for profit association of BCBS is all I want to know. For profit is for numbers. Non for profit is for the best of the customer. That is all I care about.

BCBS is good but the cost is just not worth it. All insurances are kind of useless, but aetna is cheaper than BCBS but covers the same, while UHC is like throwing away money because it doesn't cover jack sh*t

6 years ago, a company I owned with a partner was changing insurance companies. We went to BCBC of Arkansas. We had only 10 employees. The process was begun; the old group plan dropped. Everything was fine....until we realized they were not insuring my partner in the group plan, because he had had a heart attack. Legally, they couldn't do this with a group plan, but they did, arrogantly, almost daring us to do a thing about it. They are sorry, but then, all insurance companies are sorry.
